Assistant Professor/Associate Professor, Development Studies Assistant Professor, Research Methods

Job Summary:
The successful candidates will be reporting to the Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) and will be expected to teach, conduct research and engage in service performance.
Key Responsibilities

Teach at undergraduate and graduate level in the specific areas of specialization as listed above.
Support and mentor students in their career endeavors.
Participate in curriculum development activities to ensure that the programs are up-to-date and marketable.
Participate in program assessment and reviews.
Supervise students’ research (projects/ thesis/ dissertations) at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Engage in research in one’s area of expertise.
Engage in service to the University, the profession and to the community.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience:
To qualify for appointment an applicant must have:
Assistant Professor

A PhD. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University;
At least 3 years’ teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow;
A minimum of thirty two (32) publication points a Lecturer/Research Fellow as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which at least twenty four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
Supervised at least four (4) postgraduate students to completion as Lecturer/Research Fellow.
Been registered by the relevant professional body, where applicable.
Candidates with previous industry experience in non-profits, grant making organizations and government are strongly encouraged to apply.

Associate Professor

A Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University;
At least 3 years’ teaching/research experience at the university level as a Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor or Senior Research Fellow;
At least forty-eight (48) publication points as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow/
Assistant Professor as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which thirty-two (32) should be from referred scholarly journals.
Supervised at least five (5) postgraduate students to completion, including one doctoral student.
Attracted research funds as a Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor or Senior Research Fellow.
