Ensuring compliance with the relevant tax laws at all times and recommending tax planning opportunities to minimize tax exposure to the Company.
Identifying and recommending tax planning opportunities to minimize tax exposure to the Company.
Tracking of all the taxable income, computing the tax due and ensuring timely payment of all tax obligations.
Preparing and recommending tax computations for inclusion in the financial statements.
Negotiating with Tax Authorities for resolution of tax issues as well as advising the Company on new tax laws to ensure operational compliance.
Continuously monitor current developments in the tax law and prepare proposals to the policy makers on changes of tax laws as would be favorable to the Company.
Regularly review and update the Tax Management Policy and procedures to guide and improve operational procedures, enhance compliance with tax law and minimize tax exposure.
Ensuring all company tax accounts regularly reconciled and the balances are accurate.
Advising Internal Controls for risk mitigation in the Section; addressing staff performance, motivation, training and development issues in the section.
Providing specifications for the sectional related procurement to the Finance Manager, Revenue & Treasury.
Advise on tax implications on company’s projects to reduce tax exposures.
Review, prepare, advise and negotiate for favorable tax clauses in tender documents and the supplier contracts to reduce the burden of tax on the company.
Identify, interpret and advise on double tax treaties to reduce the burden of tax on the company.
Apply and follow up on tax exemptions.
Coordinating, continual improvement Safety, Quality Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems within the section.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: –

Minimum relevant experience of ten (10) years, with at least four (4) in a Management Role
Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting option) or any other relevant equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting option) or any other relevant equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Certified Public Accountants (CPA) K or final ACCA certification
Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or a relevant professional body.
Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks.
Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution
