We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Airfreight Manager to oversee the Exports, Imports, Declarations, and Bonds departments and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction through timely shipment clearance and uplift. The role also involves managing supplier communications, regulatory compliance, team coordination, and driving revenue growth by attracting new and existing business.
Principal Responsibilities:
The Airfreight Manager will oversee departmental budgeting, revenue generation, and financial performance.
Strategically manage air operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards of Cap 472.
Coordinate import and export documentation, ensuring smooth operations and timely communication with customer service teams.
Oversee the efficient use of company equipment and ensure timely repairs and maintenance.
Collaborate with warehouse managers to ensure timely processing of shipments, packaging, and delivery.
Oversee booking of shipments per client requests (air and road) and relay confirmations promptly for seamless operations.
Be part of audit processes related to security, such as AVSEC
Represent the company in discussions with regulatory bodies and stakeholders (Customs, KEPHIS, KEBS, airlines, etc.).
Manage Bonds from application to timely cancellation and retirement without attracting any penalties
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of documentation for imports, exports, declarations, and bonds.
Ensure customers are provided with accurate tax estimates before shipment arrival.
Recruit, train, and motivate employees.
Negotiate with carriers for services and preferential rates.
Develop and document operational procedures ensuring all jobs are opened, updated, and closed in SCMProfit on time.
Maintain proper handover processes and ensure accurate invoicing and documentation.
Oversee operations at the Namanga/Malaba office and ensure timely processing of entries and bond cancellations.
Key Competencies:
Proven experience in import, export, declaration, and bond processes.
Strong management, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently with a lean team to achieve desired results.
Proficiency in iCMS, Kentrade, and systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry standard software such as CRM
Ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Hands-on experience in declaration systems iCMS and understanding of EACCMA/EACCET.
Proficiency in basic computer applications.
Leadership skills with the ability to manage staff effectively.
A degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, or experience in related fields.
