Garissa University (GaU) was established by the legal notice No. 116 of 12 th August 2011 under the Moi University Act (Cap. 210A) as a constituent college of Moi University. It received its Charter on 23 rd October, 2017 to become a fully-fledged University.
The University seeks to recruit qualified and competent persons to fill the following vacant position
Requirements
Should have a PhD in the relevant area from a recognized/accredited University/academic institutions,
Should demonstrate potential for university teaching and research.
Should be recognized and registered or registerable by relevant body.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: –
Adjunct Faculty are part-time faculty members hired to teach specific courses, supervise practicums or field experiences, work on grants or contracts, research or for other academic purposes based solely on the needs of the University.
An Adjunct lecturer shall be engaged for a total of 7 days per semester (4 months). Two days of travel and 5 days of engaging with lecturers and students.
Adjunct Faculty shall be expected to provide effective teaching, good representation of the University in public affairs and community activities, and maintain sound personal and ethical relations with colleagues, supervisors, students, and the community
Adjunct faculty shall be expected to keep regular office hours, submit grades in a reasonable and timely manner and be available for service at the University during the term of their appointment.
Adjunct faculty are expected to be present at all scheduled class sessions during the semester. Any anticipated absence from class (e.g. to attend a conference) must have prior department Chair or Program Director approval. Request for approval shall be done through a letter to the department Chair or Program Director at least two weeks before their absence.
Engage in formal or informal discussions with postgraduate and research students
Undertake collaborative research with Faculty and postgraduate students
Present papers in university’s seminar programs
Be a co-guide to PhD students from Garissa University.
Where required, conduct research for Garissa University.
