Responsibilities for the Actuarial Assistant Job
Actuarial Valuations – Coordinating with relevant departments in the preparation of valuation data for Individual Life, Group Life, DA & General business
Assist in calculation the technical reserves for the above lines of business, using appropriate actuarial methodology on a monthly basis
Assist in compiling regulatory valuation reports on a quarterly and annual basisProduct Development – Assist in carrying out the following tasks relating to product development;
Pricing, profit & sensitivity testing for new or repackaged products
Compiling appropriate documentation required for regulatory approval
Liaise with consulting actuary to get certification for product design and profitability for the new or repackaged product
Set up new products in policy administration system
Experience Reviews: Review and monitor experience on products to inform decision making. In addition, perform experience reviews to inform assumptions used in product pricing and actuarial valuations. These reviews include but not limited to Expense analysis, Investment return, Persistency Investigations, mortality, sales performance and adequacy of valuation bases.
Analysis: Perform analysis on industry trends & market to inform decision making on a quarterly basis
Calculate the required capital under the new Risk Based Capital regime
Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications for the Actuarial Assistant Job
A university degree in Actuarial Science
At least 5 professional actuarial papers from Institute of Actuaries or society of Actuaries
Work Experience in a busy actuarial department will be an added advantage
