Responsibilities:
Be the subject matter expert in the domains of technical accounting, financial reporting and tax compliance.
Perform complex and detailed reconciliations and conduct closure processes.
Research and analyze critically to identify, prioritize and resolve complex financial issues which may span multiple business areas with a focus on identifying underlying issues and recognizing exceptions.
Assist the local and global leadership teams by providing relevant financial information and alternative courses of action as established through research and analysis and provide recommendations to resolve financial issues.
Liaise with KRA, tax consultants, accounting consultants and legal counsel to resolve tax and financial reporting issues for the Kenya office.
Manage annual statutory audits of the Kenya office.
Develop, recommend and implement new or revised policies and procedures for better controls and efficiencies.
Participate in critical analysis of existing systems and processes to identify and implement process improvements opportunities.
Lead, train, coach and review work of other team members as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications and experience
Minimum of 5 years professional experience in similar role (excluding internships/articleship)
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting ,Economics or any business related field.
Qualified in a professional accountancy certification: CPA K / ACCA
Experience of working with accounting systems required, preferably Netsuite.
Sound spreadsheet skills (more than “basic” skills)
Good verbal communication skills (English). Excellent written communication skills (English)
