The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting compliance with accounting standards. Key Responsibilities
Financial Management: Maintain and update the General Ledger, process daily transactions, and ensure accurate reconciliations in Sage Evolution.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Record transactions, reconcile accounts, ensure timely debt collection, and prepare supplier payments per agreed terms.
Payroll Administration: Prepare and process monthly payroll, ensuring compliance with staff terms of engagement and director approvals.
Cash Flow Oversight: Monitor daily cash positions, reconcile bank statements, and report outstanding debts in collaboration with Quantity Surveyors.
Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly management accounts, sales analysis, and budget comparisons, including detailed visual presentations.
Compliance & Audits: Ensure timely submission and reconciliation of statutory returns (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, VAT, WHT) and support year-end audits and stocktakes.
Resource Control: Manage petty cash, cheques, financial documents, and office assets to maintain security and operational integrity.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or CPA Level 5 qualification is required.
Minimum of 4-6 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a construction environment.
Proficiency in Sage Evolution and advanced Microsoft Excel.
Experience with accounting software like QuickBooks or FreshBooks is an added advantage.
