Job Summary
The Academic Officer will lead the development and implementation of academic programs, oversee curriculum development, and manage student affairs to ensure the highest standards of educational excellence and student satisfaction. He/she will be in charge of coordinating and overseeing administration operational plans in the education department.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
Lead the design, development, and evaluation of curricula for various vocational courses.
Ensure curricula are aligned with accreditation requirements and industry standards.
Provide technical leadership in curriculum implementation, monitoring and tracking of learning outcomes in all Campuses
Incorporate innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance learning experiences.
Program Management:
Develop and implement new academic programs in line with industry trends and institutional goals.
Review and enhance existing programs to ensure they meet educational standards and student needs.
Responsible for interpretation and implementation of TVET , MoE in Campuses
Collaborate with faculty and industry experts to integrate practical skills into the curriculum.
Student Management:
Oversee student admissions, registration, and records management.
Develop and implement student support services, including advising, counselling, and career development.
Monitor student progress and performance, providing guidance and support where needed.
Coordination internal school assessment to measure students progressive achievement towards achieving quality learning outcomes
Faculty Collaboration:
Work closely with the HR in the recruitment, management and appraisal of instructors
Facilitate professional development opportunities for staff.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive academic environment.
Reviewing annual work plans and activity plans for comprehensiveness, clarity and adherence to college goals and objectives.
To organize for both short term (pedagogical skills development) and long term (professional) training programs for instructors
Lead identification of instructor training needs, develop training schedules and lead instructor trainings and development programs.
Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure academic standards.
Conduct regular program reviews and assessments.
Address and resolve academic-related issues and concerns.
Administrative Duties:
Prepare and manage the academic budget.
Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
Represent the institution in academic forums and industry events.
Qualifications:
A Degree or higher in Education, Vocational Training, or a related field.
Extensive experience in curriculum development and program management within a vocational or higher education setting.
Familiarity with accreditation processes and educational standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in using educational technologies and learning management systems.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Experience in student management and support services.
Knowledge of current trends and best practices in vocational education.
