    Job Description
    Visa’s Merchant Sales and Solution Team is seeking a Merchant Sales and Solutions Business Development Leader who will have responsibility of leading the in-market acceptance efforts of a new mobile payment solution.
    The Merchant Sales and Solutions Business Development Leader has the responsibility of driving growth and development of meaningful and profitable merchant relations in East African markets. In addition, this role is responsible for working with the Senior Business Development leader and the Group Country Manager/Country Managers on industry & regulatory initiatives and interchange management for the region.
    The Merchant Sales and Solutions Business Development Leader executes on the implementation of agreed merchant acceptance strategies that grow the penetration of electronic payments in this geography to drive the increase of Merchant Sales Volume (MSV) via implementing the new payment solution and building strong working relationships with client banks, key merchants and third party partners. The role is also responsible for understanding and communicating local market needs in order that the CEMEA Hub, Digital Team and Global Merchant Sales and Solutions organizations are able to effectively and efficiently define market specific strategies required to manage strategic and complex Acceptance issues.
    JOB SCOPE
    Key Results Areas

    Drive acceptance of Visa payment solutions in the East African market, with a focus across various business segments, key among them top tier and marquee merchants
    Develop strong market relationships with key merchants meant to protect and grow Visa business and brand standing with these merchants
    Conduct quarterly business reviews with key merchants with the aim of ensuring Visa relationship adds value to clients
    Develop and execute the merchant acceptance, merchant relations and partner strategy for East Africa, increase Visa MSV, market share, data processing revenues and create acquirer, merchant and consumer preference for Visa.
    Play a hands on role in the deployment and go to market of a new mobile based technology solution.
    Development of new initiatives/solutions, implement marketing/usage initiatives targeting traditional and new merchant segments, both in physical world and virtual world, with a focus on mobile based acceptance solutions.
    Successfully translate broad strategies into specific objectives and action plans, aligning efforts of the Acceptance and Interchange organizations with other key Visa stakeholders in particular the Country and Digital Teams.
    Establish and foster relationships with Clients and internal stakeholders at all levels of staff and senior management.
    Understand client needs, solution deployment requirements in different environments and develop models of engagement that are easily replicable across organizations with similar characteristics for faster onboarding.
    Support local Client Sales and Digital Teams with their sales and enablement efforts. Maintain current knowledge of technologies, products, services, methods and applications and implement new approaches and practices as required.
    Maintain and build rapport with Digital and functional teams across Visa Inc. to exchange, learn and leverage best practices.

    Qualifications
    Professional

    Local market and regulatory knowledge and functional experience in acceptance, merchant acquiring, interchange management, consulting, financial transaction processing knowledge and client sales, preferably Visa, supporting highly complex clients and/or services within a highly matrixed environment
    Established networks at decision making levels with a strong business-to-business sales track record.Years of Experience: A minimum of 10 years of success in progressive leadership positions in the Payments industry
    Education (required): Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Masters degree in a business field is an added advantage

    Working knowledge of payments network and processing services

    The applicant should have Subject Matter Expertise in multiple areas such as card payment systems, products and services, payment technologies, gained through years of experience supporting clients and new product initiatives/existing product enhancements within a payment processing environment.
     
    Responsibilities *
     
    -Work with stakeholders in Client Support Services (CSS), non-CSS organizations, Core Product and Emerging Products & Innovation (EP&I) teams to analyze requirements of new core products, digital products and services or initiatives to support the business, and formulate implementation and support solutions
     
    -Confidently manage client implementation projects involving non-BAU products and services including Visa digital solutions such as mVisa and other digital products on Visa’s roadmap
     
    -Prepare documents and artifacts covering processes, implementation guides, presentations, forms, project plan, FAQs
     
    -Create and deliver comprehensive training and materials on new products and processes to internal CSS Implementation Consultants and Account Managers and use developed implementation material and artifacts to handover the implementation when they are ready to move to BAU
     
    -Function as a Subject Matter Expert, explaining methodologies to different levels of individuals, both internal and external
     
    -Constantly create good functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, by being able to speak confidently and displaying a professional presence
     
    -Be accountable for delivering agreed objectives
     
    -Assume appropriate decision-making authorities to ensure flawless execution of business objectives
     
    -Identify opportunities for process improvement and/or new methodologies to improve departmental efficiencies and service delivery to clients

    -Bachelor Degree required.
     
    -At least 8 years of professional experience in a Business/Project Management / Information Technology role including 3-5 years as an SME in a technical service or product

    JOB SCOPE

    Develop marketing strategies and plans for the geography, that address key market opportunities or needs
    Develop, co-ordinate and implement strategic marketing and communication plans designed to meet business priorities
    Work to retain and grow Visa´s client business by delivering marketing solutions that maximize revenue and profitability for assigned products and services
    Manage and prioritize the client marketing budget to align Visa´s product, marketing and sales strategies and objectives with client needs
    Provide consulting to maximize Path-for-Growth marketing strategies, plans and budgets for identified Financial Institution clients in support of financial targets
    Develop and execute end-to-end marketing (strategy through to execution) consulting for assigned Visa products and services for clients

    Work with Sales and other relevant partner functions to influence and gain the support andcommitment of targeted Members to involve Visa in their card marketing planningprocesses.
    Identify those client-led initiatives that provide opportunity for Visa to contribute tofinancially, negotiating the financial terms and conditions of such participation
    Develop and implement integrated client marketing plans for top clients in Tier 1 markets on a yearly basis and update quarterly as appropriate
    Earn marketing thought leadership with Financial Institution clients by providing insight driven, data focused and actionable marketing recommendations and solutions for assigned products and services
    Manage the allocated budget for the geographies and ensure all marketing activity is performed within agreed parameters.
    Assist with the identification and analysis of payment trends, market opportunities, cardholder behavior and evaluate their value and viability within the marketing plan in order to make strategic recommendations on future business direction.
    Continually monitor existing and potential competitor marketing activities to identify newopportunities or highlight potential causes for business concern. Feedback and update all staff as appropriate and recommend strategies and solutions
    Establish strong partnerships with internal teams to assist in the delivery of marketing initiatives within the geography and add value in pursuit of profitable business opportunities.

    Qualifications

    Post Graduate degree
    Excellent performance in marketing strategy and execution (at least 12 years’ experience at Marketing Manager level and above)
    Proven relationship management and strong negotiation skills.
    Advertising and media agency management skills.
    Good analytical skills and commercial acumen
    Working across different Geographies
    Strong digital marketing experience
    Sub-Saharan region experience an advantage
