    Overall Purpose: The purpose of this position is to maintain a caring and high professional standard of nursing care, meeting the needs of the patients in all aspects and promoting job satisfaction in the nursing team. In addition the jobholder is responsible for the assessment of patient needs, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care plans and the care delivered on daily basis.
    Critical Care Nurse (ICU) provides most of the direct care to patients in life threatening situations within intensive care unit.
    Key responsibilities:

    Responsible for the Critical Care Nursing provided within the Hospital on a 24-hour basis.
    Contact person for individuals, cooperate and medical insurance schemes at The Karen hospital.
    Ensuring quality standards, safety and continuous improvement of patient clinical outcomes in ICU.
    Monitor the critical patients for changes in status and indications of conditions such as sepsis or shock and institute appropriate interventions.
    Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity and inform the ICU Doctor on duty as is necessary.
    Responding to life-saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment.
    Care for pre- and post-operative patients when those patients require ICU care.
    Assess patients’ pain levels and sedation requirements.
    Prioritize nursing care for assigned critically ill patients based on assessment data and identified needs.
    Assess family adaptation levels and coping skills to determine whether intervention is needed.
    Acting as patient advocate.
    Providing education and support to patient families.
    ICU nurse must be able to draw ABG Blood and interpret report correctly.
    ICU nurse should have enough knowledge about GCS (Glasgow Coma Scale) and also evaluation capacity of patient condition
    To practice at all times infection prevention practices as stipulated by the hospital protocols.
    Responsible for accurate record keeping in regards to patient care and good maintenance of the records.
    Communicating with a range of patients and their families, ensuring that clear and accurate information is included in the patients’ notes.

    Minimum requirement:

    Must have a Higher Diploma in Critical Care Nursing or equivalent from a recognized institution.
    Must be a Kenya Registered Critical Care Nursing.
    Must have Basic Life Support Course and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course
    Must have a valid practicing license from the Kenya Nursing council
    Must have a minimum (5) year related ICU nursing experience
    Excellent proficiency in use of Computer
    Proficiency in reporting, typing and record keeping.

    The role holder will be responsible for providing quality ultrasound services to our clients, reviewing and analyzing reports and producing the same for physician review.
    Key responsibilities:

    Receiving of patients for various Radiological procedures and exercising a high degree of customer care by explaining the ultrasound procedure to patients and answering any questions they may have.
    Assessing patients and interpreting clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic technique
    Perform a range of radiographic/sonographic examinations as requested according to the requirements of the referring physician.
    Ensure radiation protection to patients and staff to produce high-quality images.
    Managing referrals to ensure patients receive a radiation dose as low as reasonably possible and safely supervising visiting staff and patients in radiation work areas.
    Enabling high quality patient experience including quality of care and optimal turnaround time
    Facilitating adherence to set standard for routine and special examinations.
    Producing images of high diagnostic quality.
    Performing routine and special radiological examinations including mobile radiography and image intensifier when required.
    Maintaining the ultrasound equipment and maintaining the room in which the procedure takes place.
    Performing the ultrasound ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images of every angle/section that must be assessed and ensuring the images are of best quality.

    Minimum requirement:

    Diploma and/ or Degree in Diagnostic Radiography
    Valid practice licence
    At least 3 years relevant working experience.
    Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
    Organization and decision-making skills.
    Attention to detail; presentable, professionalism.
    Confidence in using leading-edge technologies.
    Demonstrable leadership skills.
    Good customer service skills.

    The Medical Laboratory Technologist provides information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Collect blood specimens from patients, label specimens and evaluate correct specimens for the tests requested.
    Perform tests and sample analysis in the areas of Hematology, Immunology Histopathology/Cytology, Clinical Chemistry, and Microbiology.
    Verify the validity of all submitted samples prior to accepting the specimen.
    Prepare samples for storage and maintain specimen inventory.
    Prepare peripheral blood films, and tissue specimens in readiness for reporting by the pathologists
    Perform calibration, standardization and routine preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments such as centrifuges, microscopes, incubators, analyzers, refrigerators, freezers, in accordance with the established procedures, protocols and schedules
    Perform Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) activities
    Review all tests results for accuracy and consistency, correlating results with patients’ conditions.
    Notify the appropriate health professional in case of Critical / Panic values or questionable results that require verification or re-collection of samples.
    Maintain laboratory records and archiving system of patient information, equipment and tests results to comply with regulations.
    Enter results in the laboratory information management system.
    Assist in writing and revising of the technical procedures and manuals.
    Maintain inventory of equipment and monitor laboratory supply levels and assist in re-ordering and inventory of supplies
    Comply with all relevant safety and infection control policies and procedures.
    Ensure tidiness of laboratory rooms, benches and proper housekeeping.
    Perform any other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirement:

    A degree / diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
    Must be registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
    At Least 2 years post qualification experience.
    Ability to work under minimum supervision.
    Ability to analyze and evaluate data critically.
    Ability to prepare and keep budgets.
    MUST be Computer literate
    Familiar with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
    Familiarity with the total quality process- Quality assurance, quality control processes is mandatory
    Experience in performing common laboratory tests
    Ability to prepare reagents, stains and media.
    Ability to carry out grossing, sectioning of specimens
    Ability to calibrate, operate and maintain laboratory instruments.
    Familiarity with (Laboratory information management system) LIMS.
    Minimum two (2) years working experience.
    Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    At least 2 years of relevant working experience
    Strong negotiation and customer care skills
    Have experience working with any ERP system.
