  • Community Education Officer

    Community Education Officer

    Job Function:
    FilmAid Kenya will be working to ensure increased access to educational content and instructional learning through radio education. FilmAid Kenya will work with boys and girls through the digitization and broadcast of educational curriculum in their preferred language to expand access to instructional and educational content. In coordination with the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), FilmAid Kenya will produce audio-visual formats for both radio and film of KICD’s formal education and non-formal education curriculum, as well as translate these digital formats into the 5 key languages spoken in refugee camps and the host communities. The Community Education Officer will work closely with learners, teachers and education stakeholders during the production and translation of the curriculum, which will then be broadcast with the community radio stations to achieve education outcomes.
    Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    Design, Development and Dissemination of Educational Content

    Ensure the development of content is contextually relevant, and awareness raising, and dialogues are designed and implemented to meet the stated objective of increasing education enrolment and retention
    Drafting and translation of Education messages for bulk SMS system distribution
    Coordinate closely with FilmAid Kenya Content and Creative teams and Community Engagement teams on the roll out of activities in target schools and communities
    Provide technical leadership in FilmAid Kenya curriculum related material dissemination, implementation, monitoring and tracking of learning outcomes

    Education Coordination with Stakeholders and Communities

    Represent FilmAid Kenya in technical education coordination meetings with education partners in refugee camps and report back
    Work with the Community advisory committees to approve messages to the community as well as collect feedback on messages
    Coordinate closely with education partners in the camps to ensure implementation of FilmAid Kenya complementary education activities in target schools
    Extend technical support, where needed, to teachers – Kenyans and refugee teachers –on implementation of Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), instructional materials, methodologies and evaluation of instruction
    Co-ordinate and facilitate the organization and implementation of activities in schools in line with the Ministry of Education (MoE)

    Project Support

    Ensure timely delivery of project activities according to approved work plans
    Support project planning, implementation, and monitoring to ensure achievement of education outcomes
    Participate in needs assessments
    Support project reporting, highlighting best practice and opportunities
    Ensure Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) are at the center of implementation
    Any other duties assigned

  • Child Protection Animator

    Child Protection Animator

    Description and scope of work
    FilmAid in collaboration with TDH who is the Child Protection Implementing Partner in the three camps of the Dadaab refugee complex intends to produce a Child Protection animation that targets children, youth, adolescents, caregivers, traditional leaders, camp leaders, youth, and women’s groups, partners and TDH community structures comprising of child welfare committees, Community Owned Resource Persons, children councils and foster parents. This animation aims to:

    Create awareness on existing and emerging Child Protection Concerns in the community.
    Educate the community on their role in child protection.
    Create awareness of the effects of harmful traditional practices on children and encourage them to practice safe and positive practices.
    Shed light on the need to involve children in decision-making.
    Address the importance of the community being proactive in identifying and reporting child protection concerns.

    Expected deliverables and output:
    FilmAid is therefore looking to produce a 2D animation that addresses the key messages mentioned above. The Child Protection animator is expected to:

    Liaise with FilmAid’s focal person in Nairobi and Dadaab to develop a script for the animation based on a Creative Brief that will be shared by FilmAid.
    Develop and submit the animation concept from the scripting stage to the final product in consultation with FilmAid’s assigned project lead.
    Create a storyboard that represents the script’s narrative and submit it for approval.
    Create a high-quality animation by utilizing both hand-key animation and motion-capture data.
    Design models, backgrounds, sets, characters, objects, and the animation environment while being cognizant of Dadaab’s cultural set-up.
    Incorporate original soundtracks in the animation that match the timing and the pace of a character or an object in the sequence layout of images and ensure they follow the soundtrack and audio requirements.
    Record an English and Somali V.O that will be layered as part of the animation, incorporating graphics and special effects as required/desired to produce the finished animation piece.
    Adhere to production deadlines and satisfactorily meet FilmAid’s production requirements.

    Grants Officer, Finance

    Job Purpose:
    The Grants Officer is responsible for the strategic oversight of FilmAid Kenya’s grants through adherence to all donor requirements, staff training and supporting the development of new grants, including liaison between the country office and location offices (Dadaab and Kakuma).
    Working closely with the Programmes Director, the Grant Officer is expected to manage existing grants and assist in the application for new opportunities.
    Key Performance Indicators:

    Monthly grant cash forecasts against work plans in collaboration with the Programmes Director and done and submitted to the Country Director
    Petty cash requests reviewed against project needs before approval and disbursement
    Purchase requisitions reviewed against approved grants before procurement
    All grant reports verified against all grant terms and conditions and ensure due compliance through their accuracy, reasonability and completeness.
    Monthly grant reports generated and discussed with the Finance Manager, Field Manager / budget holders, Programmes Director and Country Director and recommendations followed up for actioning
    Budgets to support grant applications generated in collaboration with the Programmes Director.
    All recommendations arising out of external audits, donor reviews and other inspections related to financial / administrative operation of grants are implemented within the timelines indicated in the management responses.
    All commitments made to creditors/suppliers/vendors aligned to grants are met as per the LPO and/or contract agreements.

    Key Duties
    The Grant Officer fulfils the following functions;

     Grants Management

    In close collaboration with the Programmes Director, Field Managers, Country Director and Finance Manager;
    Lead and manage the financial and administrative function of grants and contracts to ensure FAK’s compliance with requirements, procedures and policies while providing appropriate guidance and oversight.
    Manage the financial oversight of the successful implementation of all grants ensuring donor compliance, contractual requirements and accurate and quality reporting of the projects’ financial activities and position.
    Manage internal financial tracking of all grants and support Programmes Director to ensure work plans are integrated with financial grant management, including close liaison with field offices.
    Supervise and support post-award administration including negotiation of terms and conditions of sub-agreements, sub-grants and subcontractors, obtaining donor approvals when required and managing award administrative closeout of awards.
    Continuously support the improvement of financial management including grants and frameworks and how FAK’s administrative systems are set up to support these.
    Ensure that systems are in place to maintain accurate records and effective and timely reporting of financial performance of sub-grantees and sub-contractors.
    Play a key role in the development and implementation of best practices for the grants, contractors and procurement functions.
    Understand and integrate the donor financial reporting requirements.
    Work with SMT and the Finance Manager in ensuring cost share applicability and compliance with donor cost share regulations.
    Take the lead in all donor financial verification processes.
    Provide regular reports to the SMT on progress of grants and identify areas of concern.

    Budgeting and Grant Development

    Work closely with the Finance Manager to develop annual and periodic FAK budgets, monitor them on a monthly basis, and report on it at the end of each financial year.
    Assist Senior Management Team and Country Director in the development of grant proposals including integration of FAK’s existing organizational strategy and vision.
    Provide expertise in financial aspects of new grant development.

    Organizational Development

    Develop and conduct compliance training on new and emerging donor issues, policies and procedures for newly hired or existing employees.
    Work closely with Finance Teams to ensure donor and grant compliance.
    Create internal procedures and documentation to ensure best practice in financial management of grants including targeted training for field programmes staff.
    Work closely with the Finance Manager to develop /update policies, procedures, templates and manuals.

    Submit a final report with proposals for;

        Templates for new financial budgets including integration of departmental requirements
        Approval systems to ensure new grant proposals are in line with FAK strategic plans.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.
    Recognized Certificate of Professional qualification in Accounting (ACCA, CPA)
    At least 3 years experience in accounting or finance preferable with an international development/humanitarian aid organization.
    Commensurate education and years of experience.
    Proven experience in grant management, preferably with major international donors.

    Skills and Competencies

    Financial planning, financial management skills and accounting and budget principles.
    Budgeting and budgetary control.
    Ability to develop internal financial tools that match external grants.
    Knowledge of best practice grant management approaches.
    Understanding of organizational objectives and how that relates to finance and grant management.

    Program Director

    Position Main Function:
    The Program Director will supervise the MERL Manager, Senior Program Officer (SPO), and Media & Community Engagement Manager and all the technical teams and lead the efficient and effective coordination for planning, implementation and reporting for FilmAid’s multiple donor funded communications projects and programs.**
    Business and Program Development (40%)

    Builds relations with donors and NGOs to strengthen and forge future partnerships;
    Drafts concept notes and work closely with the Country Directors, Field Managers and Senior staff to brainstorm new activities and concepts;
    Leads the development of all proposals, actively contributing to the technical writing and ensuring compliance with solicitation requirements;
    He/She should work closely with Country Directors, Field Managers and relevant Senior staff on GO/NO GO decisions for opportunities.

    Stakeholder and Donor Engagement (20%)

    Leads communication between departments to support the development of communication products and strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness;
    Leads the development with support of Team Leads and Technical specialists to create organizational and project profiles, maps, thematic briefs, and other communication and marketing materials;
    Maintains a stakeholder database and keeps track of programmatic meetings between FilmAid and UN agencies, donors, aid agencies, government stakeholder to foster positive relationships;
    Represents FilmAid in external meetings with stakeholders, donors and partners as required;
    Serves as the focal point for FilmAid where needed on projects with donors.

    Reporting, Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning, and Technical Support (25%)

    Ensures that the design and technical support by FilmAid staff for content production, training and community engagement meets donor requirements and FilmAid’s internal quality standards;
    Supervises the Senior Program Officer to ensure the administration of an established reporting system, and that narrative reports to donors are both in compliance and reflectively of FilmAid’s commitment to quality;
    Supports project launch and ensure the timely establishment of work plans and M&E plans to donors;
    Oversees that the M&E Department has set up the tools, systems, processes, and procedures to ensure the timely collection, aggregation and analysis of M&E data;
    Reviews all M&E reports and provides support to the MERL Officer as required;
    Reviews all learning and research products, and leads the development of the strategy;
    Oversees the preparation of organization’s annual reports.

    Management and Organizational Strategy (15%)

    In coordination with the Country Director, supports the development of annual organizational plans and multi-year strategies;
    Supports recruitment of program and project related staff;
    Actively participates in senior management and organizational strategy and planning meetings.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Development and/or humanitarian or related field;
    Prior Work Experience: Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in a similar role in international development (project implementation or management or new business development), preferably with a humanitarian aid organization;

    Job Knowledge:

    Strong networks and established relationships with NGOs and donors in the humanitarian space in East Africa;
    Ability to represent and promote the mission of FilmAid to stakeholders;
    Proven experience in managing partnerships and relations with national and international organisations;
    Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in monitoring and evaluating programs

    Senior Operations Officer

    Main Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    Administrative supervision

    Supervision of Logistics & Admin Officer and HR/Admin Assistant and allocate work appropriately.

    Finance

    Lead the budget preparation, budget revision and budget management for Kakuma field office.
    On monthly basis coordinate and liaise with the Nairobi based Kakuma Desk office to review budget to actual reports to ensure propriety of information
    On monthly basis, meet with the Field Manager to review budget to actual reports to ensure propriety of information and provide appropriate advice to the Field Manager.
    Ensure compliance with donor and FAK financial policies and procedures by the Kakuma program
    Prepare for internal and external audits and donor financial reviews as may be required.
    Prepare and submit monthly cash projections for Kakuma based on work plans to the Nairobi-based Kakuma Desk Officer.
    Ensuring timely and complete collection of invoices, placing payment requests, submitting for payment and follows through on vendor balance reconciliations with the Nairobi-based Kakuma Desk Officer.
    Maintain communication and ensure timely payment of suppliers based in Kakuma as well as obtain relevant documentation for transaction back-up.
    Continually maintaining proper systems of storing cash, making payments and keeping cash books and other financial records. Responsible for the integrity of the petty cash system in Kakuma.
    Management & maintenance of Kakuma petty cash and submitting the petty cash vouchers to Kakuma Desk Officer within the stipulated timeline.
    Provide support and basic training for administration, outreach, M&E creative staff in the preparation of payment and petty cash vouchers and other related finance transactions such as travel accountability, interpretation of financial reports, communication and continuous staff on- job trainings.

    Human Resources/Admin Duties

    Ensure newly recruited staff in Kakuma and new arrivals to Kakuma receive their basic induction and orientation depending on their position and function.
    Manage the administration of the Kakuma staff leave database and records, coordinating annual leave plans and communicate leave policy benefits.
    Process monthly incentive staff salaries submit to the Kakuma desk officer in Nairobi.
    Co-ordinate HR activities such as making arrangements for internal staff trainings and seminars/workshops for Kakuma field office.
    Supervise maintaining HR records related to employment contracts, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, employment status and similar records for refugees and local staff.
    Co-ordinate all recruitment activities including posting job adverts, scheduling interviews and ensuring reference checks for refugee and locally recruited staff.
    Coordinate and ensure submission of monthly Time and Effort Sheets by staff members and ensure update and record keeping of the same.
    Maintain HR records for incentive staff relating to; employment contracts/status, performance reviews, disciplinary issues and maintenance of up to date emergency contact list of all incentive staff.
    Uphold FilmAid Kenya Code of conduct, PSEA and HR policies.
    Provide advice to the Field Manager in case of investigations into any breaches of the FAK CoC or related policies.
    Maintain absolute confidentiality of all information that he/she may have access to in the execution of his duties.
    Support the HR/Admin Assistant in premises management duties.

    Procurement/Logistics Supervision Duties

    In coordination with the Senior Programmes Officer & Field Manager, oversee the development and execution of procurement plans for Kakuma office and submit to the Nairobi office.
    Review procurement plans with the relevant programme team members on a monthly basis and submit updates to Nairobi office.
    Support general finance and procurement processes by researching needed information.
    Be proactive in improving skills by keeping up to date with new / latest development in finance / procurement / administration.

    General Duties:

    Hold quarterly staff sensitization sessions on FAK CoC, PSEA, safeguarding and anti-fraud policies.
    Ensure clear and accessible record keeping and filing of all activities and expenses.
    Ensure good communication within and outside the project. Represent the project and its goals to callers, writers, and visitors from the community, NGOs, and CBOs as needed.
    Collaborate with FilmAid colleagues as needed or requested to meet reporting requirements, develop proposals, address management needs, design products, or respond to funders.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in Business administration, Logistics / supply chain management, or other relevant discipline.
    Qualification in Certified Public Accounts (CPA) part II or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
    At least 5 years’ experience in administration, finance and in coordinating staff travel preferably with a humanitarian organization. Demonstrated experience with key donors including USAID, UN agencies, and private foundations is an asset.
    Excellent English language skills.
    Good understanding of project management cycles and budget allocation/ tracking/reviews.
    3-5 years of involvement in budget management (including drafting, revisions, reporting).
    Experience working in a field office and with experience in project planning and budgeting.
    Must have supervised at least 3 people and involved in handling various human resource process and functions within an organization or program.

    Job Purpose:
    The Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Manager will be responsible for managing MERL activities across FilmAid’s entire portfolio of donor-funded projects in Kenya specifically for Dadaab and Kakuma humanitarian and development operations. The position requires exemplary research, analytic and interpersonal communication skills to support internal and external reporting and to ensure that impact and learning is promoted within the organization and appropriately packaged for donors, government and other key stakeholders.
    Indicators of Good Performance on the job:

    MERL plans and frameworks are developed and monitored at a project and organizational level.

    Program Teams are utilizing established MERL tools and observing program quality by following appropriate procedures and processes.

    MERL data is aggregated, stored, and analyzed at a project, portfolio, and organizational level in a timely manner.

    Learnings are packaged, and strategically shared internally and externally to key stakeholders.

    M&E Staff, Team Leaders and other FilmAid Officers are equiped with the knowledge and tools to support MERL functions within their projects.

    Main duties and responsibilities include:

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

    Provide support at the proposal development and design stage of programmes and projects for setting up the performance management framework and defined indicators to support the intended project objectives and goal.
    Ensure that organizational tools and systems are setup and effectively meet the M&E requirements as per contractual requirements.
    Maintain the organisational M&E database.
    Develop standards for verifying and measuring quality of activities implemented.
    Provide support to internal team and stakeholders on ways and means to improve M&E related components and activities.
    Provide evaluation feedback into project and programme design.
    Follow up on implementation of evaluation recommendations, ensuring the optimal use of evaluations by providing guidance in preparation of timely management response.

    Research and Learning:

    Design and lead research and learning activities for projects.
    Contribute to global research and learning on Communicating with Communities (CwC) methodologies.
    Manage programmatic learning structures to ensure adaptive management and that best practices and challenges are incorporated with the support of Team Leads into continued activities.

    Management:

    Support the development of project proposals – particularly performance monitoring plans and M&E sections.
    Ensure the timely submission of quality programme and M&E reports, and contribute to other reports that requireM&E inputs.
    Ensure the development and revision of M&E templates/forms, tools and processes as part of organisation-wide efforts to improve programme reporting capabilities.
    In collaboration with the senior management team, contribute and support the development of internal and external reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
    Deliver training and capacity building as necessary for M&E and other staff on monitoring and evaluation, data collection and analysis.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in economics, demography, statistics, mathematics, social science or relevant discipline;
    Prior Work Experience: Minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional experience in a planning, performance monitoring and/or evaluation and reporting role, with experience working for a humanitarian organization prefered

    Job Knowledge:

    Demonstrated ability in data analysis, project design, monitoring, and evaluation of development activities.
    Experience with data analysis or visualization tools, with Microsoft PowerBi preferred.
    Experience with designing and implementing surveys.
    Experience in developing performance management plans, results frameworks, logical frameworks.

    Play a key role in the development and implementation of best practices for the grants, contractors and procurement functions.
    Understand and integrate the donor financial reporting requirements.
    Work with SMT and the Finance Manager in ensuring cost share applicability and compliance with donor cost share regulations.
    Take the lead in all donor financial verification processes.
    Provide regular reports to the SMT on progress of grants and identify areas of concern.

    Budgeting and Grant Development**

    Work closely with the Finance Manager to develop annual and periodic FAK budgets, monitor them on a monthly basis, and report on it at the end of each financial year.
    Assist Senior Management Team and Country Director in the development of grant proposals including integration of FAK’s existing organizational strategy and vision.
    Provide expertise in financial aspects of new grant development.

    Organizational Development

    Develop and conduct compliance training on new and emerging donor issues, policies and procedures for newly hired or existing employees.
    Work closely with Finance Teams to ensure donor and grant compliance.
    Create internal procedures and documentation to ensure best practice in financial management of grants including targeted training for field programmes staff.
    Work closely with the Finance Manager to develop /update policies, procedures, templates and manuals.

    Submit a final report with proposals for;

    Templates for new financial budgets including integration of departmental requirements
    Approval systems to ensure new grant proposals are in line with FAK strategic plans.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.
    Recognized Certificate of Professional qualification in Accounting (ACCA, CPA)
    At least 3 years experience in accounting or finance preferable with an international development/humanitarian aid organization.
    Commensurate education and years of experience.
    Proven experience in grant management, preferably with major international donors.

    Skills and Competencies

    Financial planning, financial management skills and accounting and budget principles.
    Budgeting and budgetary control.

    Job Purpose:

    The Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Manager will be responsible for managing MERL activities across FilmAid’s entire portfolio of donor-funded projects in Kenya specifically for Dadaab and Kakuma humanitarian and development operations. The position requires exemplary research, analytic and interpersonal communication skills to support internal and external reporting and to ensure that impact and learning is promoted within the organization and appropriately packaged for donors, government and other key stakeholders.

    Indicators of Good Performance on the job:

    MERL plans and frameworks are developed and monitored at a project and organizational level.

    Program Teams are utilizing established MERL tools and observing program quality by following appropriate procedures and processes.

    MERL data is aggregated, stored, and analyzed at a project, portfolio, and organizational level in a timely manner.

    Learnings are packaged, and strategically shared internally and externally to key stakeholders.

    M&E Staff, Team Leaders and other FilmAid Officers are equiped with the knowledge and tools to support MERL functions within their projects.

    Main duties and responsibilities include:

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

    Provide support at the proposal development and design stage of programmes and projects for setting up the performance management framework and defined indicators to support the intended project objectives and goal.
    Ensure that organizational tools and systems are setup and effectively meet the M&E requirements as per contractual requirements.
    Maintain the organisational M&E database.
    Develop standards for verifying and measuring quality of activities implemented.
    Provide support to internal team and stakeholders on ways and means to improve M&E related components and activities.
    Provide evaluation feedback into project and programme design.
    Follow up on implementation of evaluation recommendations, ensuring the optimal use of evaluations by providing guidance in preparation of timely management response.

    Research and Learning:

    Design and lead research and learning activities for projects.
    Contribute to global research and learning on Communicating with Communities (CwC) methodologies.
    Manage programmatic learning structures to ensure adaptive management and that best practices and challenges are incorporated with the support of Team Leads into continued activities.

    Management:

    Support the development of project proposals – particularly performance monitoring plans and M&E sections.
    Ensure the timely submission of quality programme and M&E reports, and contribute to other reports that requireM&E inputs.
    Ensure the development and revision of M&E templates/forms, tools and processes as part of organisation-wide efforts to improve programme reporting capabilities.
    In collaboration with the senior management team, contribute and support the development of internal and external reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
    Deliver training and capacity building as necessary for M&E and other staff on monitoring and evaluation, data collection and analysis.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in economics, demography, statistics, mathematics, social science or relevant discipline;
    Prior Work Experience: Minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional experience in a planning, performance monitoring and/or evaluation and reporting role, with experience working for a humanitarian organization prefered

    Job Knowledge:

    Demonstrated ability in data analysis, project design, monitoring, and evaluation of development activities.
    Experience with data analysis or visualization tools, with Microsoft PowerBi preferred.
    Experience with designing and implementing surveys.
    Experience in developing performance management plans, results frameworks, logical frameworks.

    Job Purpose:

    The Grants Officer is responsible for the strategic oversight of FilmAid Kenya’s grants through adherence to all donor requirements, staff training and supporting the development of new grants, including liaison between the country office and location offices (Dadaab and Kakuma).

    Working closely with the Programmes Director, the Grant Officer is expected to manage existing grants

    and assist in the application for new opportunities.

    Key Performance Indicators:

    Monthly grant cash forecasts against work plans in collaboration with the Programmes Director and done and submitted to the Country Director
    Petty cash requests reviewed against project needs before approval and disbursement
    Purchase requisitions reviewed against approved grants before procurement
    All grant reports verified against all grant terms and conditions and ensure due compliance through their accuracy, reasonability and completeness.
    Monthly grant reports generated and discussed with the Finance Manager, Field Manager / budget holders, Programmes Director and Country Director and recommendations followed up for actioning
    Budgets to support grant applications generated in collaboration with the Programmes Director.
    All recommendations arising out of external audits, donor reviews and other inspections related to financial / administrative operation of grants are implemented within the timelines indicated in the management responses.
    All commitments made to creditors/suppliers/vendors aligned to grants are met as per the LPO and/or contract agreements.

    Description and Scope of Work

    FilmAid Kenya is seeking a talented, creative, high-energy multimedia producer, strong in cinematography, editing, and design skills to help our team create unique multimedia content including short films, documentaries, docudramas, drama series, animations, child-friendly productions, print, and promotional materials. The role also includes working directly with refugee students and alumni from the FilmAid training program to ensure a continuation in capacity building and on-job training and ensure context-appropriate multimedia content productions are realized.

    Using media for development principles, FilmAid’s approach ensures unique participatory methods that put the community at the center of messaging, planning, and execution of media production projects. FilmAid then uses this media for community-based screenings and workshops to build local communities’ knowledge, self-awareness, and efficacy and use the information to make positive behavior modifications, build community leadership and collective participation & response to social issues that they face.

    ROLE SUMMARY:

    The staff will be responsible for:

    All phases of the video/film production: scripting, directing, filming, editing, and translating/dubbing into different languages.
    Produce multimedia content on various areas on protection, education, health and nutrition, and child protection, and other areas of need.
    Lead engagement with refugee communities, UNHCR, WFP, UNICEF, NGO staff, and other relevant stakeholders in discussing some of the pertinent issues affecting the communities that FilmAid serves
    This individual will help conceptualize ideas and assemble media assets into high-quality content that supports our various media content production objectives.
    Review baseline information on knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) on various issues affecting the communities that FilmAid serves
    Identify, contract, and act as supervising producer for alumni groups to produce multimedia content
    A good sense of Design composition, type layout, animation, and the pacing is required.
    Candidates should combine documentary and observational filmmaking experience with a strong journalistic sensibility and great skill with editing.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    Specific tasks for the Multimedia Producer

    Message Development

    Coordinate the process of collecting feedback and adapt information gathered from the desk reviews, inter-agency consultations, feedback from meetings with the messaging committee, focus group discussions, and other review data into a messaging framework (film structure) in consultation with the community and other partners.
    Act as a focal point in the development and approval of scripts for film projects.
    Work with the Advisory/Messaging committees in message development, script pre-test, and approval of final media content to ensure responsive and context-appropriate content.
    Prepare and present for review a mixed thread of multiple storylines. The storylines should respond to the messaging framework and be the basis for subsequent scripting.
    Draft film treatment for film projects to be undertaken by FilmAid.
    Prepare an accompanying interview raft for identified interviewees
    Edit and/or work closely with the editor to ensure the final product is responsive to the messaging framework.

    Production

    Recruit and supervise a production crew to help manage the production process for various projects
    Lead in pre-production all the way to post-production by developing film treatments and scripts prior to film production. Together with relevant project staff, audition, and select actors, interviewees, and locations.
    Work with the FilmAid team, Alumni, and consultants to select actors; identify shooting locations and direct music performances for film projects to be undertaken by FAI
    Coordinate and guide actors during rehearsals for film projects and assist the production team in the production of the films.
    Coordinate the recording of the soundtrack for the films. The music soundtrack will be generated from community groups.
    Conduct post-production tasks ranging from logging and transcribing to syncing, converting, and exporting
    Work with the communications team and other arms of FilmAid to create promotional materials, conference materials, etc., including photo research and archiving
    Edit films, documentaries, and promos. Edit fast turnaround multimedia clips and social media videos
    Help develop new ways to present and distribute videos online and via social media for maximum impact
    Film interviews, events, and stories when requested and should be able to conduct interviews with insight and sensitivity and film hand-held observational scenes with confidence and discretion
    Create rough and final cuts. Work with and manipulate raw camera footage, insert music, sound effects, dialogues, graphics, special effects, and color grading.
    Work with the production team to create an organized archive and backup system following FilmAid’s procedure. Including making sure that data has been downloaded and backed up
    Translate the completed and approved English video into local languages through voice over dubbing.
    Other duties as assigned

    Administrative

    Consult with the Creative Director and the Multi-media Content Coordinator from production to the post-production process.
    Work with the Field Manager, Outreach Teams and Program Director to ensure sound messaging that responds to identified informational needs
    Assessing production needs and advising on the procurement of equipment.
    Work closely with the operations team in ensuring that the logistical needs of production consultants working on special projects are met.
    With the guidance of Field Manager and Multimedia coordinator to draft ToR for the Alumni participating in film productions.
    Meet regularly with FilmAid staff and clients/partners and keep them involved in all phases of film production.
    Prepare simple reports accompanying the messaging and production process.

    QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

    Extensive and proven professional production experience including shooting/editing credits for an established independent production company or broadcaster, with a clip reel or work samples (with a clear indication of your role)
    Excellent communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
    Ability to work in at least one language apart from English
    Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud programs (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Adobe CC.)
    Experience in producing content in collaboration with children, adolescence, and the youth required
    Experience dealing with sensitive topics and gaining the trust of contributors; understanding of ethics of journalism dealing with the disempowered
    Able to meet deadlines, work under well pressure, and a team player
