    About the Role
    Reports To: Finance Director
    The Decision support manager-Tax services is a senior business partner to commercial, Supply Chain, back office services and a liaison officer with the revenue authorities and other stakeholders. This position is a core member of Kenya Finance leadership team.
    This role is required to interact with and manage inputs and outputs of numerous people across a matrix organization within EABL group and Diageo as well as maximize tax efficiency and effectiveness in the following areas: manufacturing, agribusiness, centralised Centres of Excellence (Tax, Plan, Source, Move) and centralised Shared Service Centres.
    Market Complexity
    There are three manufacturing sites in Kenya; Tusker, Kisumu and UDV with over six million EUs production capacity and a vibrant agribusiness arm East Africa Maltings Ltd with over 40,000 contracted farmers for cereals. There are over 100 brands and SKU’s for beer, ANADS, spirits across all categories with multiplexities of tax rules and legislation. Tusker is also the single largest manufacturing site in Diageo.
    Purpose of Role

    To partner with Kenya breweries Ltd executive Leadership to drive business performance through end to end strategic and tactical management of all direct and indirect taxes.
    To lead tax compliance checks agenda and service delivery by shared services and centres of excellence.
    To Leverage global finance processes, COE teams, standard, systems, and data to drive efficiency and effectiveness & Identify improvement areas for tax processes through data and insights. 
    To oversee a robust governance and control environment with an effective risk management structure and to ensure that all governance, controls, and compliance requirements are in place and operating.                                                                    

    Accountabilities

    Own and develop annual priorities in line with business strategy.
    Drive tax efficiency through strategic and tactical plans.
    Ensure correct internal and statutory accounting and reporting of indirect and direct taxes.
    Implement robust review structures to ensure tax compliance.
    Ensure a strong tax compliance effectiveness and culture is fully embedded across the business.
    Monthly reporting of tax compliance status, potential risks and ongoing developments to the Finance Director
    Develop strong working relationships with business partners and compliance leadership across the business to collaborate on significant tax matters affecting the operations.
    Review relevant tax filings for completeness and technical accuracy including proper disclosures.
    Active management and review of relevant tax filings, enquiries & third-party relationship management.
    Ensure all tax balance sheet accounts are reconciled and supported by COE (Centers of Excellence)/DEO (Diageo Enterprise Operations) finance team and review reconciliations for accuracy.
    Oversee tax operations in areas of compliance, cash management, tax provisioning and audits.
    Actively engage in financial reporting processes and advise on the impact of transactions.
    Review sales and legal agreements to ensure tax requirements are met.
    Actively advise management on the tax position and related developments
    Ensure indirect and direct tax compliance with all reporting and payment deadlines with all local tax authorities (including ensuring timely refund of tax debt owed by tax authorities)
    Manage proactively all audits by tax authorities across all taxes.
    Review the Group transfer pricing policy and develop it as required to meet local and global tax authority standards.
    Ensure transactions are correctly documented on an arms-length basis consistent with tax requirements imposed by revenue authorities.
    Manage and mitigate proactively all Market Tax risks
    Provide internal tax advisory services and support on business operation matters
    Lead and coordinate ad-hoc tax-driven business initiatives locally or regionally.
    Develop and manage SLA’s with tax service providers i.e., shared services and Centres of excellence
    Recognize, anticipate, and resolve tax issues and make recommendations.

    Qualifications and Experience Required

    Qualified Professional Accountant- CPA(K)/ACCA/ACMA
    Business related Degree.
    Minimum of 10 years’ experience in finance and tax, with 5+ years in pure tax capacity, preferably in a FMCG
    Strong overall tax knowledge, specifically in East Africa,
    Experience in application of transfer pricing guidelines and regulations in a multinational environment
    Experience in managing tax audits, ruling negotiations and litigation
    Excellent business acumen and finance (including accounting and treasury) knowledge
    Experienced in managing relationships and in engaging / advocating with tax and government authorities
    Strong tax technical knowledge – direct and indirect tax
    Ability to engage with senior management and in translating tax into business terms
    Experiences working in both external tax consulting firm and in-house tax function
    Strong experience in financial modelling, analysis and business case presentation preparation
    Strategic thinking: The ability to demonstrate business acumen and think how the business/market could/should be different in the future. The ability to utilise internal and external information to understand the operating environment and implications for the business. The ability to utilise the wider business perspective to understand the impact of strategic choices and resource allocation decisions across the value chain (from supply to point of sale)
    Risk Management: The ability to identify, capture and manage risks at appropriate levels
    Process Transformation: A positive problem-solving mindset that champions the use of standard, simple, automated end to end processes, and respective controls
    Relevant experience with integrated systems such as SAP is an advantage.

    The Diageo market in Africa contributes 13% of Diageo’s NSV and boosts the leading growth statistics in the world. There are 8 different companies stretched on the continent with Nigeria and South Africa as the biggest. Over 1,400 SKus managed in 38 warehouses and over 79 transporters. Apart from SA, most transport and warehousing activities are manual and for the automation, and not interfaced with SAP. Tracking tools for trucks are owned and operated by 3PL and not Diageo, Transport rates are pre-negotiated, and changes attract high penalties.
    About the role:
    This role is to manage warehousing operations across Africa providing a service of executing operations, partnering with warehouse providers and adding value to each market in the region. The outcomes of this CoE are measured in: Cost Efficiency, Service and Collaborative and value creating relationships. He/she will also need to engage and partner with key Diageo Supply Partners (3PL’s, GDBS, resourcing partners etc.) as well as other external suppliers

    Deliver warehousing strategies and operations that are fit for purpose to support market requirements.
    Manage warehousing spend to be within budget and delivering operational savings.
    Lead and motivate the team to deliver the CoE requirements including influencing those non direct reports.
    Provide expert warehousing input understanding African dynamics to ensure credibility of CoE and optimisation initiatives.
    Develop a synergistic relationship with PLAN and SOURCE CoE and MAKE in market to ensure delivery of overall supply excellence

    About you:

    Minimum 5 years’ experience as a warehouse manager in a manufacturing company managing multiple sites including bonds in different countries.
    Minimum 2 years’ experience of warehouse management including external 3PL warehouses in Africa.
    Demonstrable ability to engage and align stakeholders behind plans and win support for implementing change within the warehouse environment.
    BSc or MSc in a supply chain related subject.
    Ability to lead in environments where influence is more important than formal authority.
    Demonstrable knowledge of end to end supply chain and Customer collaboration.

    About the Role
     
    This role is located within the Demand Sales business. The ABDM role will be critical to the overall KBL short, medium and long term strategy in developing and driving our trade & distribution strategy as well as operational excellence in achieving 100% distribution effectiveness and efficiency through our evolving RtC model.
    The average ABDM looks after 3-4 distributor accounts and 2/3 Customer Relationship Representatives and is responsible for managing and developing profitable brand and volume growth within nominated distribution. The role is 90% field based in regions, with long periods unsupervised and extensive travelling required. The job holder is expected to be away from home overnight on many occasions and will be under intensive pressure with constant demands from distributors and retail customers

An advantaged national distribution network within the Kenyan alcohol market is key to maintaining KBLs competitive advantage and delivering of both volume growth and market share.
    Changing macros driven by competition for limited disposable incomes and the opening up of economic trading blocs allowing in flow of products from other markets. Consumers are also becoming more discerning demanding better value for money at the bottom end and uncompromised quality at the top. This requires proactive selling to maximise company market share. Trade is evolving and being more sophisticated especially at retail level.

    Accountabilities

    Develop strategic category management approach to the logistics spend in Africa at optimum cost to support the strategies of the In Market teams delivering sustainable competitive advantage to Diageo.
    Lead the development of best in class logistics solutions across the Diageo supply chain. Work closely with the market team to lead the design, development and execution of strategic sourcing outcomes and projects.
    Lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive intelligence and information gathering network – maintain category cost models, databases and market intelligence
    Lead the sourcing, negotiation and contracting of all Logistics contracts in the Africa region.
    Develop the category approach to SRM, inflation management, and contracting framework to drive standardization and excellence across the category.

    Qualifications and Experience Required

    A holder of a university degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or equivalent
    Purchasing and/or Business qualification desirable (CIPS/MBA)
    7-10 years of procurement, experience within a forward thinking, fast paced and value-adding environment.
    Experience in logistics procurement or in the logistics industry
    Have good commercial acumen
    Analytical, numerate, enthusiastic, tenacious and a team player
    Confidence and some experience in communicating at senior levels
    Ability to successfully manage a large variety of stakeholders from supplier CEO level to warehouse teams
    Exceptional facilitation and project management skills.

    Reporting to the Europe and Africa Tax Director you will be part of business partnering team for the Africa markets and 17+ entities throughout Africa.  The role is part of Diageo’s response to tax digitization challenges across all regions and tax types (direct and indirect) and part of delivering the step change required to ensure Diageo’s tax function remains in line with its peer group.
    As Senior Tax Manager Africa you will manage the direct and indirect tax affairs of your assigned markets, but you will also be the single point of contact for those areas that are not directly handled by a market specific tax business partner, where you will engage with and a guide network of tax professionals and third parties who are involved in tax compliance and/or advisory activities for these markets.
    Key Interactions:

    Finance Business partners and operational teams – Develop and maintain a strong working relationship and keeping up to date with business priorities and developments, act as a trusted business advisor in order to challenge and support the markets in improving overall tax management
    Specialist finance functions – Collaborate with finance functions as required to deliver end to end finance services to markets

    What you will be responsible for: 

    Active leadership of the management and monitoring of market tax risks, including taking action to detect and solve issues and deal with implementing and where necessary mitigating the impact of legislative changes.
    Advise, guide and educate stakeholders on key tax issues to enable the business to adopt and adhere to relevant tax policies and standards, and mitigate tax risk.
    Execute specific tax related processes/activities following agreed global standard processes and governance framework and identify opportunities for standardization and simplification.
    Support the tax compliance, financial and reporting obligations of the markets.
    Provide tax support to market-initiated projects to ensure tax strategies and policies are adhered to and opportunities to deliver tax efficiencies are identified and fully evaluated.
    Participate in tax projects to deliver shareholder value/mitigate tax risks.
    Provide support to the market, and in some cases lead, tax audits and tax enquiries including working with legal to resolve any tax related disputes.
    Perform administrative procedures as required before the Tax Authorities in time and proper legal form, maintaining an excellent relationship with the authorities.
