    Business Development Manager

    Primary Function: The BD Manager will support the region’s competitive pursuit of institutional donor resources. With a core function of supporting the non-technical writing and production of high quality applications for donor funding, this position will also provide specialized assistance in other dimensions of the BD cycle, knowledge of specific program sectors or funding sources including corporate and other non-traditional sources, or other relevant areas to be determined in recognition of agency needs. He or she will focus largely on CRS country programs in East Africa, while also contributing to cross-regional and global initiatives as part of the agency’s worldwide BD team.
    Travel: up to 40% travel within the CRS East Africa Region
    Qualifications and Experience:

    Master’s degree in business management, international relations, international development, or related field;
    Minimum seven years international development experience, including at least three years of work in a developing country;
    Knowledge of BD and fundraising concepts and practice within the foreign aid and/or non-profit contexts;
    Demonstrated experience utilizing diverse, proactive strategies to competitively position his/her organization for new funding and productive institutional relationships;
    Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing people and processes to produce complex proposals under tight deadlines and at exceptional quality.
    Significant experience developing proposals in response to USAID RFAs and RFPs required; comprehensive experience with USAID technical and cost applications highly desirable.
    Experience pursuing non-USG funding mechanisms, and opportunities to create shared cross-sector value highly desirable.
    Experience building the capacity of, and providing effective technical assistance and guidance to, peers and colleagues required; knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles and/or direct training experience highly desirable.
    Experience with CRS programming approaches, standards and tools preferred;
    Willingness and ability to travel up to 40%, and to function within an evolving global shared services structure that enables shared accountability, cultivation and strategic use of staff talent, and efficient management of resources for growth.
    Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and negotiation skills.

    The Nairobi-based Regional Information Officer (RIO) for the East Africa Regional Office (EARO) will implement a communications strategy that establishes CRS as an industry leader with key audiences in the U.S. and in the region. The RIO will capture and effectively disseminate success stories and other content that demonstrate the impact of our work, our expertise and thought leadership and amplify our messages. Dissemination of success stories and other content will serve to enhance CRSu0027 credibility and influence among key stakeholders, attract partners and contribute to the acquisition of funding.     Specific Responsibilities:

    Storytelling

    Travel throughout the region to gather information on CRS and partner programs and write compelling human interest-focused success stories, take photos and videos, and write content that can be used for marketing materials, private and institutional donor outreach (particularly USAID), crs.org, social media, direct mail pieces, e-newsletters and other platforms.
    In coordination with PIQA and USAID Communications staff, ensure placement of CRS stories and content on USAID platforms and digital properties.

    Marketing Materials:

    Help manage the design and production of creative and compelling communication and marketing material –photos, video, fact sheets, brochures, etc. – for various audiences, including public and private donors, government, partners, media and others as needed.
    Manage freelancers in the production of above marketing materials as needed.
    Identify and utilize effective distribution channels to disseminate marketing materials to key audiences.

    Media Relations:

    Under the supervision of the regional marketing manager and working with the HQ Communications team, program and senior management teams, develop media strategies as a tool to raise CRSu0027 profile regionally and in the U.S. around priority issues and programs to establish CRSu0027 as a leader in development.
    Map the media landscape, identify media opportunities; develop and nurture relationships with US and international media; develop talking points; train spokespeople.
    Secure media placements in top-tier national and international outlets such as the New York Times, Washington Post, BBC and NPR, for example.
    Provide support and coach country program Communications staff in effective local media outreach.
    Serve as spokesperson as needed.

    Brand Management:

    Take a key role in brand development for the region, ensuring that all communications are consistent with CRSu0027 branding and publications guidelines and donor requirements.
    Ensure that all staff are trained and supported in the brand guideline implementation.

    Background:
    CRS is implementing a five-year orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) program, MWENDO, which seeks to empower local and county-level OVC stakeholders to strengthen the formal and informal HIV and child protection systems and services and the linkages between them, including cross-sectoral service referrals and coordination to ensure quality service delivery for OVC and their households.
    Job Summary:
    Reporting to the M&E Specialist, the SPO – Data Management will be responsible for the organization, maintenance and updating of OVC databases and management information systems that includes CPIMS, DATIM, and other database systems at CRS, DCS and LIP level. You will provide overall technical support on database development, organization, maintenance and use; conduct monthly data collation for the entire MWENDO project, verification of results reported, analysis and presentation of findings; build the capacity of MWENDO staff (at both CRS and LIP level) on database set up, management, use and troubleshooting; lead review, and strengthen capacity of DCS, and LIPs to effectively collect, store, retrieve, use, and transmit data to inform program decisions.
    You will ensure that systems are in place so that data is readily available to be used as a foundation for programmatic adjustments and evidence-based decision-making, support set up of systems to ensure beneficiaries and other stakeholders have opportunity to give to and receive feedback from the project, and support documentation of project learning in line with project learning agenda.
    Specific Responsibilities:

    Effectively manage all activities related to collection, management, analysis, reporting, storage and back up of project data from all sources and in prescribed formats and reporting platforms.
    Develop and implement a plan to ensure optimal project data quality, authenticity and accuracy including periodic data quality assessments, data cleaning and verification before reporting to the donor.

    Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:
    Education and Experience

    At least Bachelor’s degree in Demography, Statistics, Data management, Computer Science/Information technology, Information Systems Management, or related field; a relevant Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
    Knowledge of technical principles, concepts and current approaches in MEAL.

    Qualifications:
