    The role is to establish and grow new long-term institutional business relationships, ensuring business goals are met, while enhancing a positive market awareness of Sanlam Investments East Africa (“SIEAL”) as a leading and responsible fund management business in the region.
    Key Responsibilities:
    The Business Development Manager will be expected to achieve the following:
    Business Development

    Win new institutional business in line with SIEAL’s business plans by identifying and converting new sales opportunities.
    Build internal and external networks and implement an effective institutional sales strategy
    Use knowledge of the market and competitors to further develop SIEAL’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
    Identify bid opportunities and ensure that responses are reflective of SIEAL’s standards of excellence
    Oversee the client take-on process from start to finish, including the preparation of high quality, relevant documentation.

    Relationship Building & Stakeholder Engagement

    Develop a trusted advisor relationship with key stakeholders which determines their needs and ensures their satisfaction.
    Deliver value added services and apply a continuous improvement approach, which results in superior client experiences.

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills

    A Bachelor’s degree in finance, marketing, accounting or relevant field from a recognized university
    Proven track record demonstrated by the ability to acquire new institutional clients, cultivate long-term client relationships and exceed targets
    Dynamic, results focused and a self-starter – able to work independently and in a demanding team-based environment, with an ethical, positive mindset and can-do attitude
    Minimum of five (5) years’ experience gained in a similar role
    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation
    Business acumen – good understanding of market trends and need for innovation
    Strong negotiator and excellent people skills

    Job description

    Key Duties and Responsibilities
    The Financial Advisor – Unit Trust Sales will report to the Distribution Manager and will be responsible for the following key deliverables:

    Network and generate leads and opportunities to sell the Unit Trust products
    Reach potential clients using various sales techniques 
    Keep clients apprised of product and service enhancements, including changes in investment options.
    Assess and understand the clients overall financial position and based on their needs develop an investment plan
    Achieve set targets within the allocated timelines
    Conduct investor education to existing, new and future clients
    Preparation of daily, weekly, monthly sales reports

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills

    Proven financial industry sales track record. Unit Trust sales will be an added advantage
    Degree in Marketing, Diploma in sales, or any other similar qualification from a recognized institution
    At least 1 years’ sales experience in financial services industry
    Excellent communication skills both in English and Swahili
    Self-motivation, drive and commitment
    Sales and negotiation skills
    Excellent reporting and presentation skills
    Result driven, honest and reliable
    Confident and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

    The Client Relationship Supervisor – Unit Trust will report to the Head of Business Development & Client Services and will be responsible for the following key deliverables:

    Formulate and implement the unit trust sales team strategy.
    Mentoring, training and development of Unit Trust sales teams and agents
    Participate in the recruitment and retention of sales teams and agents
    Monitoring sales team productivity while aiming to inspire improved performance and ensure targets are met.
    Proactively identify, establish contact & ensure growth of the Unit Trust business and promote unit trust products (money market, dividend plus and balanced funds)
    Negotiate the terms of agreement and close sales to potential clients
    Provide investment advice to existing and potential clients.
    Look after the customer relationship in pre-sales and to post sales
    Conduct investor education to existing, new and future clients.
    Presentation of consolidated sales reports and any other reports that might be required by the Management.

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills

    Business degree preferably in (Economics, Finance,)
    At least 4 years’ sales experience in the financial services industry
    Good understanding of the Collective Investment Schemes regulatory requirements.
    Excellent planning, organizing analytical skills
    Ability to establish trust and communicate succinctly
    Ability to make presentation to both individuals & and groups
    Sales and negotiation skills
    Strong team player, Result driven, honest and reliable
    Excellent reporting and presentation skills
