    Job Description
    One Acre Fund is looking to place a cohort of paid interns and fellows in several departments in 2018. For twelve to twenty-four weeks (May to August/ May to November), interns and fellows will work on impactful projects, receive mentorship from organizational leaders and provide support to One Acre Fund’s operations. Interns and fellows will be given substantial work assignments and asked to produce high quality deliverables. Opportunities may be available in the following departments:

    Business Development & Communications – tells the story of One Acre Fund’s smallholder clients to donors, supporters and the world.

    Compensation
    This is a paid program. Interns/Fellows will be provided with a reasonable stipend for the duration of their contract.     Job Description
    The Finance Advisory Services (FAS) team is made up of in-country analysts that are the trusted advisors to country leadership teams in the area of financial sustainability. Taking vast amounts of financial intelligence from budgets, spending patterns and project work plans, FAS provides concise, actionable advice around how to allocate resources to best achieve the country’s scale and impact goals. The goal of our small group of financial consultants is complete financial sustainability to efficiently scale impact.
    To help achieve this, the Financial Analyst will work across functions on budgeting and quantitative analysis to give strategic advice. We are looking for someone with high leadership potential. This a career track role where you will learn valuable skills in finance and accounting as well develop a management consulting toolkit.
    There are 3 main areas of responsibility for the role:

    Budget (50%): You will work with departments in developing, updating, and tracking budgets. You will update monthly BVAs (Budget vs. Actuals) and associated financial reports for the sections of the entire program, working closely with our Accounting team. This requires excel skills and financial acumen, as well as the ability to maintain professional relationships and explain complex terms in simple language. Longer-term, you will own the entire budget process
    Analysis (30%): Building on your budget work, you will analyze financial data for trends and give advice to departments, particularly to improve efficiency. For example, you may develop a business case around developing internal capabilities for print or construction. Or you might support HR in designing a new policy to improve our transport policy. Again, this will require a mix of modeling and synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
    Cash Forecast (10%): You will have to estimate Kenya’s Cash-flow every month. This will require constant communication with departments to forecast any unbudgeted expenses.
    Strategic projects (10%): In some cases, you will also implement your recommendations, such as piloting an efficiency play in a district or improving our KPI tracking. This kind of projects require getting into the field to understand our program and financials.

    Over time, you will take on larger and larger strategic questions, eventually driving large of financial strategy.

We work to shape international policy, build a strong reputation in each country, and inspire dynamic African leaders to join our rapidly-growing organization. Currently we work in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda, and Malawi and have pilots in Ethiopia, Myanmar, and Zambia.
    The Specialist will be a key contributor to our communications efforts. Working closely with the Digital Marketing and Communications lead, s/he will support initiatives to improve how we reach and engage our audiences. It’s an exciting opportunity to shape an important area of our work.
    Responsibilities Include
    Social media – Co-own the organization’s social media strategy. Drawing upon research, industry news, and internally produced content to draft and post engaging content.     Job Description
    One Acre Fund will purchase over $60M worth of agricultural and non-agricultural inputs for direct sale to over 900,000 smallholder farmers in 2018. Through distribution of these goods and innovative trainings, we produce $129 of impact per farmer, of which, $27 can be attributed to the distribution of non-agricultural inputs such as solar lights, efficient wood-burning cookstoves, and storage materials. Access to these life-improving inputs electrifies households, allows farmers to store their grain, and gives farmers and their families the tools they need to grow themselves out of poverty.
    We are looking for someone to play an integral role on our non-agricultural supply chain team by taking charge of procurement and end-end logistics for these life improving products. In this role, you will build rock solid supplier relationships, reduce importation costs, and stay in front of the regulatory environment in East Africa to deliver high quality goods on time at the feet of over 900,000 smallholder farmers.
    Responsibilities of the Non-Agricultural Goods Supply Chain Specialist will include:

    Execute our Purchasing Strategy

    Coordinate the sourcing, importation, and delivery of over 480,000 solar lights, 10,000 stoves, 100,000 tarpaulins, and 300,000 storage bags each year.
    Stay at the forefront of regulations and policies surrounding the purchase and delivery of solar lights, cookstoves, and other plastics products throughout East and Southern Africa.
    Build relationships with leaders in the plastics, solar, and cookstoves industry to stay at the forefront of shifts in the global industry.
    Manage supplier relationships and coordinate between suppliers and in-country teams to deliver the best service possible to the farmers we serve.
    Develop and maintain rock-solid service level agreements with our regional logistics suppliers.

    Define and Improve Processes

    Improve existing supply chain mechanisms by building strong, long-term supplier relationships.
    Identify and implement cost- and time-saving improvements from small process tweaks to major strategic changes.
    Implement standardized practices to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and customer service.
    Prevent fraud and corruption challenges along the procurement value chain.
    Create quality assurance and process checklists to guarantee adherence to standard operating procedures

    Team Management

    Mentor 2 or more supply chain staff to build leadership and project management skills. Coach direct reports on supply chain best practices including how to negotiate for best pricing and terms and build strong supplier relationships.

    Qualifications

    The Product Innovations’ Monitoring & Evaluation Team is looking for a Monitoring & Evaluation Data Manager to supervise all data management and quality control processes. Below are the role’s details and directions on how to submit an application.
    Roles

    Manage data in the project and performance dashboards; proactively monitor the data to identify issues
    Develop and lead data management process improvements
    Quality check all surveys before they are conducted in the field using the established review process
    Manage three sub-teams within Monitoring & Evaluation Team: Survey Data Specialists, Tablet Specialists and Back Check Callers

    Survey Data Team Management:

    Organize trainings for survey requests and CommCare programming for the Product Innovations Team Manage backend data support for all Product Innovations M&E surveys, including data entry, data corrections and quality control
    Own the CommCare survey management system o Liaise with external departments to implement survey requests

    Tablet Team Management:

    Oversee the processes of assigning survey tablets to the field team and recovering the tablets at the end of projects
    Manage required tablet maintenance activities
    Manage the ongoing and future tablet process improvements

    Back Check Team Management:

    Oversee the survey back check process to monitor field team performance and ensure data accuracy

    Job Qualifications

    Hold a Bachelors’ Degree in relevant field
    Strong data management and data analysis skills
    Knowledge of CommCare Programming system a plus, but not required
    Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of monitoring and evaluation
    Ability to carry out medium and long-term planning (6 months to 1 year) for data management activities within Product Innovations M&E Team

    Supply Chain Operations Associate/Manager

    Job Description
    We’re looking for one key person to be the central hub interfacing between purchasers, field units, logistics teams, finance, and accounting. This person will start by developing a team of 2 direct reports and will be the lead coordinator for a couple dozen people across the organization. In this role, you’ll be asked to drive supply chain efficiency, eliminate waste across the value chain, and reduce supply risk across 8 countries by setting a high bar for forecast accuracy, data integrity, and effective communication. We’ll be asking you to play a key role optimizing $40M in annual spend while preparing our operations for scale to ultimately deliver high quality live improving goods at the feet of the 500,000 smallholder farmers we serve.
    Responsibilities of the Supply Chain Operations Associate role will be:

    Be the key coordinator between procurement staff and over 2 dozen internal customers across 6 core countries and 2 pilot programs.
    Collaborate with country leadership and logistics teams to maximize end-to-end supply chain efficiency, eliminate waste from the value chain, and save costs.
    Leverage forecasting and inventory planning tools to generate and maintain 12-month rolling demand forecast and purchasing plan with target seasonal stock levels and payment timing.
    Join forces with the Financial Advisory team to implement an effective pricing model across country programs.
    Generate guidelines for clients to manage order and forecast process as well as how to handle excess inventory and stock outs.
    Develop sophisticated data analyses to drive order forecasting and pricing decisions, improve supply chain efficiency, and drive operational scalability.
    Extract and analyze system data using SAP Business One, Power BI, and excel to identify and recommend improvements to supply chain metrics and performance standards.
    Use data analytics to drive on-time deliveries and deliver world class customer service to our clients.
    Set the standard for high quality inventory data management across the organization.
    Develop organizational Key Performance Indicators and targets for data management, forecasting, and order timeliness.
    Aggregate and report on supply chain KPIs quarterly to organizational leadership.
    Use reporting tools to drive behavior change within supply chain and across the organization with monthly purchasing, inventory movement, and forecast accuracy reports.
    Mentor supply chain staff to build leadership and project management skills.
    Set ambitious goals for your direct reports and support their achievements.
    Identifying strong talent pools for recruiting high quality supply chain staff.
