    Job Description
    The Recruitment Team is responsible for overseeing the outreach and hiring of strong candidates for One Acre Fund.     The Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for significant portions of the on-the-ground outreach and brand building for the our program, with a specific (but not limited) focus on Kenya.
    Roles and Responsibilities

    Fluent about One Acre Fund and the Kenya Program – knowledge about operations, current program status and hiring needs. 
    Research, Sourcing, Networking

    Lead Generation – perform research on priority candidates for leadership roles. This includes understanding strong university programs, career services, scholarship and fellowship programs.
    Create and execute leadership search strategies with a variety of departments for the Kenya program team and then identify, evaluate and present leadership talent to senior management across the Kenya program team.
    Create and Maintain Relationships with key networks in Kenya – this means taking over existing relationships, as well as building new relationships with universities, fellowships, government scholarship recipients, social enterprises, development organizations, recruitment agencies etc.
    Leadership Support – supporting General Partners or team leads with inquiries and handling all general sourcing inquiries. Contributing to reports shared with leadership teams on sourcing and outreach efforts.
    Support Kenya Staff in Outreach Efforts – provide support to staff members in their efforts to network, cold-call and engage individuals.

    Job Description
    Our Seed Supply Chain Specialist will lead a 3-4-person team to deliver high quality, well-priced seed to our clients while preparing our seed supply chain for scale. S/he will take ownership for managing an ISTA-certified seed lab to guarantee quality for our clients, maintaining execution excellence in our seed supply chain operations across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, and Zambia, and investing in seed policy and value chain development to insulate our clients from challenges related to seed availability.
    The overarching goals of this role are to:

    Drive execution excellence in our seed procurement and delivery operations across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Malawi.
    Improve and maintain seed lab operations to ensure zero low-quality seed makes it into farmers’ hands.
    Understand and pre-empt possible seed supply risks relating to environmental stressors or a changing policy environment to ultimately insulate our clients from possible seed shortages.
    Deliver world-class customer service to our internal clients and key stakeholders.

    A successful candidate in this role will:

    Achieve near 100% on time in full seed deliveries across seasons and country programs.
    Prevent low quality seed (due to germination, purity, or vigour issues) from being delivered to 1AF farmers through state of the art quality control mechanisms at multiple points across the value chain and a world-class seed lab.
    Guarantee that internal clients in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Malawi always know the status of their orders including potential supply risks and logistical challenges.
    Build strong relationships with key suppliers to receive high service levels and below-market pricing.
    Ultimately insulate country clients in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Malawi from changing regulations and inconsistent supplier performance through risk mitigation strategies and durable quality control processes.

    Responsibilities of the Seed Supply Chain Specialist will include: 

    Seed Sourcing and Delivery: by working through team and directly with key suppliers, they will deliver seed on time in full and at the right quality across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Malawi

    Purchase and deliver seed to 1AF warehouses on time in full across seasons and country programsImplement quality control and testing procedures at key points across the value chain to prevent low quality seed from reaching 1AF clients
    Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure high quality service levels
    Drive down costs to the farmer through smart purchasing plans and world-class contracts that guarantee favorable payment terms and purchase flexibility (i.e. ability to do seed returns or reduce orders)

    Seed Quality Assurance:

    Manage seed lab team to ensure 100% of seed delivered to farmers passes through multiple rounds of testing to guarantee high level of germination, purity, and vigor
    Improve seed lab operations through ISTA accreditation
    Oversee and streamline seed lab processes by minimizing waste throughout the testing process and ensuring lab calibration activities are done systematically and regularly
    Implement and oversee seed quality assurance activities from sampling at the supplier’s warehouse, to loading supervision, to re-testing at 1AF’s warehouses before farmer deliveries

    Execute on a Flexible Seed Procurement Strategy

    Work with Supply Chain leadership to set and execute a long-term vision for the Seed Supply Chain unit
    Build a strong understand for possible seed supply and quality risks due to climate change, supplier reliability, and changing seed regulations and implement proactive risk-mitigation strategies
    Use supplier relationship management and engagement with the seed sector to guarantee successful delivery of future seed demand across our country operations
    Build and maintain strong collaborative working relationships across country and global departmentsImplement innovative and impactful sourcing strategies that can scale across several countries in East Africa, Europe, North America and Asia, minimize waste, and maximize seed deliver accuracy

    Key Responsibilities Include
    The Grants Finance Associate will take ownership of grants finance execution. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of work experience in a corporate finance or grants finance role, with significant exposure to financial or grant budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes and deliverables.

    Additional Responsibilities Include

    The Grants Finance Manager will lead our grants finance function, overseeing the associate and execution while also driving strategy and communication with key stakeholders in Business Development and Finance. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience managing budget proposals and reports for large, multi-year grants for foundations and bilaterals, within a large, international NGO.
    Manage and innovate Grants Finance function: Oversee the workflow across reporting team with excellent execution of Grants Finance deliverables. Review and improve our current tools, systems, and strategy.

In this role, you will create and rapidly iterate on a new distribution model alongside One Acre Fund’s core operations that has the ability to distribute solar lights and other products to hundreds of thousands of clients annually. You will be responsible for moving this project from it’s pilot stage to scale by (1) designing a growth strategy, (2) monitoring performance in order to drive operational excellence, (3) using customer insights and business experiments to rapidly drive forward program improvements that result in excellent customer experience, and (4) building a high performing team that embodies the values of One Acre Fund.     Responsibilities for this role would include, but are not limited to:
    Strategy & Vision

    Design a strategy to scale the new program quickly within a budget and ambitious but achievable targets for the team to perform against.
    Monitor client experience, pricing, marketing, sales, distribution, and service of the Solar Sales Program while continuously creating improvements to the program.

We are seeking a team lead to manage the Kenya Procurement team, implement standardized processes, execute with sustained quality improvements, and drive 3-5% of purchasing cost out of the system.
    You will coordinate across teams at One Acre Fund-Kenya to maintain the consistent flow of purchasing information and ultimately deliver a world class purchasing department at the feet of our 750,000+ clients.
    Responsibilities

    Team Management

    Mentoring a 10+ person team consisting of purchasers, stores officers & QC officers
    Coaching purchasers to identify high quality, high level suppliers and how to negotiate for best pricing and terms
    Holding the team accountable to strong integrity and performance standards
    Working with multinational staff and suppliers
    Identifying opportunities to grow the team and working with manager on recruitment of strong local talent

    Defined Processes and Team Vision

    Implementing procurement mechanisms and systems by incorporating procurement best practices and identifying strong, long-term supplier relationships
    Mapping out current procurement practices on the Kenya team to identify and implement cost- and time-saving improvements.
    Standardize practices to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and customer service
    Set a 6-12 month vision for the procurement team to realize 3-5% cost savings across items, communicate realistic lead times to requestors, and deliver with 95% accuracy in quality and timeliness
    Build excellent inventory , quality assurance systems to support procurement operations

    Manage day to day purchasing Execution  

    Triaging requests as they come in to assess lead times and project possible delays and challenges
    Running quarterly forecasting activities across teams to come up with a quarterly procurement plan
    Maintaining accurate procurement data in the SAP system
    Ensuring purchases are supported with sufficient documentation (PO’s, contracts etc.)
    Running annual product tendering exercises to ensure we have preferred vendors for all frequently purchased products to minimize RFQ frequency and maximize savings.
    Saving costs for the organization – every purchase order is an opportunity for negotiate for better prices and better payment terms for the organization. You don’t take no for an answer and you bring suppliers to understand the value of giving discounts to One Acre Fund.
    Working closely with logistics teams to minimize delivered costs
    Working closely with other internal teams to reduce overall spend
    Maintaining and improving procurement process transparency

    Manage procurement support functions

    Overseeing execution of strong inventory management practices in procurement stores – including data management, best practices etc. You make sure our monthly inventory counts are accurate or quickly resolved if anything is missing.
    Developing best practices for mitigating risk to One Acre Fund through enhanced quality assurance mechanisms for procurement material

    Representing the Procurement team to Kenya Leadership

    Communicating expertly and effectively with leadership to ensure they understand your team vision and what you’re doing to get there

    Liaising across client and stakeholder departments to ensure procurement is always supporting the broader country’s mission

    Communicating back to the procurement team the broader organization and country team’s goals and how the procurement team supports those goals
    Responding to feedback from leadership team and key stakeholders in a timely, consistently respectful fashion

    Job Description
    The Field Operations Deliveries Associate is tasked with collaborating with stakeholders in Business Operations, Logistics, and other teams to ensure that over 50+ unique inputs (totaling over 32 million kgs in 2018) are distributed to our ever growing client base. They are also charged with driving more efficient processes and systems that will allow us to deliver a growing range of inputs to more clients in a wider geographic area as One Acre Fund rapidly scales. The Field Operations Deliveries Associate’s responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:

    Strategy & Vision

    Contribute to the Field Operations 5 Year Plan, annual ‘Objectives and Key Results’ goals and planning processes for the Field Operations department. Ensure annual plans align with the country program’s long-term vision and targets.
    Measure progress against goals, regularly report on progress, and hold the team accountable for delivering results in key strategic areas.
    Drive Field Operations to scale our services to more clients efficiently while maintaining a high level of service.
    In all high level discussions at a country and global level, you will be responsible for representing the synthesized view of your team on all things Delivery related for Kenya Field Operations.

    Delivery Planning, Execution and TroubleShooting
    Coordinate planning and execution of major seasonal deliveries. This involves:

    Planning and coordinating the Input Delivery Working Group in collaboration with key stakeholders in Business Operations and Logistics
    Updating and executing on key field-facing trainings (train Field Staff on their roles and responsibilities during Input Delivery)
    Triaging and resolving field facing issues during input delivery
    Collecting and analyzing metrics gathered during input delivery to drive future delivery improvements.

    Manage and mentor one sub-department managers (Materials Execution & Issue Resolution Specialist)
    Ensure the sub-department’s tasks are executed to world-class standards including:

    Procurement and delivery of trainings, materials, and tools to field staff to facilitate weekly Field activities
    Delivery of performance incentives to staff and clients
    Field support issue resolution

    Collaboratively set department KPIs and metrics to measure success
    Regularly solicit feedback from the wider team and other departments
    Strategic Improvements and Collaboration

    Identify and prioritize operations improvement projects to allow us to scale to more farmers, more efficiently, and offer a better service.
    Participate in other relevant Working Groups to collaborate with colleagues to move forward on key initiatives. These include Enrollment WG, Package WG, Expansion WG and others.
    Participate in Global Operations work and collaborate with other country programs.

    People Management & Training

    Serve as direct management line to one mid-level management staff, who oversees the Materials Execution and Issue Resolution sub-department (all told, a team of three).
    Management will include oversight, weekly reporting meetings, performance reviews and development, strategic direction and support.
    Ensure that all staff receives effective mentorship to promote career growth and capacity to handle the organization’s rapid growth.
    Personally lead training sessions for senior staff members.
    Lead and support the hiring of staff members within the sub-department.
