    Job Description

    We’re looking for an HR generalist who will oversee excellent operational execution while driving strategic projects across our global HR team. You will create efficiency and reduce waste by identifying process bottlenecks and implementing HR process improvements. You are an experienced manager who is equal parts People- and analysis-obsessed, with a record of designing efficient, data-first systems. You will likely manage up to 3 associates, and report to our Global HR Director.

    Specific Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

    Lead monthly payroll and tax reporting: you will work with your direct reports and internal partners to execute monthly payroll accurately and on time. You’ll continually lead improvements efforts that ensure the HR team is spending <20% of its time running monthly recurring functions. Grow into an important leadership voice in setting People strategy: you’ll collaborate with the Global Director of People, the Global HR director, and heads of our Internal Consulting, Recruitment, and Training and Development to set global People strategy. Lead projects: you will achieve results in project execution by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating teams; evaluating milestone achievements; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and directions within projects. Potential projects may include: Design a compensation and rewards strategy for all staff : you work with senior and executive level partners to develop a compensation and rewards strategy and establish partnerships and detailed plans to bring that to life. This will cover OAF’s entire staff complement of 8000+ staff. Build an excellent “internal client” service desk: you work with your deputies to build excellent reporting and customer service tools, ensuring that our HR team can meet support requests from staff and HR data requests from all partners. Statutory compliance: you will ensure compliance with local labor laws and statutory requirements by understanding current HR and Payroll compliance environment; and ensuring adherence to requirements; and advising leadership on all necessary actions.     We are seeking a dedicated and experienced graphic designer to help support One Acre Fund’s growing collateral needs. You will work closely with our small design team based in Nairobi.

    As a graphic designer, you will produce high-quality materials for farmers across six countries, including marketing materials, product guides and accessible trainings. These materials form the foundation of our farmer outreach efforts, and directly support our efforts to improve farmers’ quality of life. You may also occasionally support on creative design for the organization brand and fundraising materials.

    This position requires a strong understanding of the elements and principles of design, a clean and polished design aesthetic, a strict attention to detail, and strong project management and coordination skills. A successful candidate should also be capable of clear communication, self-motivation, and structured work planning. Previous experience with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and print design are a must.

    We are looking for someone to reflect the voice of and to execute on behalf of the Executive Director. As One Acre Fund grows, our Executive Director is focused on an increasingly diverse set of priorities, from communicating with external partners to marshaling resources for new internal projects. You would work very closely with him on those priorities to help move forward One Acre Fund’s overall strategy. The role has three main parts:

    Executive-level, strategic communications: We believe well-crafted communication of our strategy is essential to One Acre Fund’s success. You will reflect the voice of our Executive Director in communications with the most important influencers in the sector and internal audiences. Examples include:

    Set the vision and create the content for monthly Town Halls, the organization’s forum for keeping staff up to date and aware of the organization’s strategic direction.
    Draft an annual strategy letter to set vision and guidance for internal staff.

    One-off, fast analyses and tasks: These are analyses and tasks of one week or shorter duration, typically exploring a new strategic direction. For example:

    Write a memo summarizing the market opportunities for sorghum and millet in East Africa.
    Recommend a methodology for projecting the average household size of smallholder farmer families in 2030.

    One Acre Fund-wide initiatives: As we become more complex, there are an increasing number of projects that do not fall cleanly into an existing department. You will move forward essential projects across multiple departments. For example:

    To support One Acre Fund’s rapid growth trajectory, our team plans to more than triple our purchasing portfolio in the next 5 years. Top put that into context, we’re purchasing over $70M worth of goods in 2019 alone. To sustainably support this growth, we need to dramatically save costs and simplify our processes to deliver an effective, agile procurement department at the feet of our over 800,000 clients. 
    We are looking for a creative and analytical go-getter who will take on a portfolio of challenging cost and time saving projects. In this role, we’ll look for you to find ways to save over one million dollars every year, set our processes up for scale, and use data to hold the team accountable to ambitious performance targets. You will stay out of the day-to-day weeds and focus on tackling high priority projects. Specific responsibilities include:

    Use Data to Set Targets: Work with the sourcing data team to clean up and use data. More specifically: 

    Use data to make investment decisions (like when to buy fertilizer to optimize savings or whether to order aggressively vs. conservatively based on historical forecast vs. actuals performance);
    Report performance metrics to leadership and internal team to inspire improvement and celebrate wins;
    Generally stop at nothing to get the data you need, whether that means going out and running market surveys or building reports in PowerBI and excel using extracts from our ERP. 

    Develop and implement projects that save meaningful money: Collaborate with teammates and other departments to initiate creative, data-focused projects that save money and improve efficiency. Your goal is to achieve at least $1M in new savings every year. Example projects include:

    Developing a new cost analysis tool to measure and report cost savings;
    Use data to improve forecast accuracy to minimize excess inventory and stock-outs;
    Improve data visibility to empower purchasers to negotiate and internal clients and approvers to make better informed decisions.

    Simplify procurement processes to improve team resilience and agility: Simplify and integrate existing tools and make controls easier to follow.

    Move processes into existing platforms – e.g., you’ll move cash forecasting into SAP, implement an e-tendering platform, and refine our vendor and contract management processes through SAP;
    Close controls gaps in sourcing processes with support from team leadership and executors to reduce possible fraud or over-spend events;
    Report on controls to internal team and organizational leadership.

    We are looking for motivated leaders to join One Acre Fund’s Internal Consulting Team (ICT). ICT sharpens the organization’s strategy and supports other One Acre Fund teams at important junctures where additional analytical resources could have an meaningful impact. Above all we are looking for professionals who can effectively support teams across the organization on a variety of project types.
    A Sample Of Recent Internal Consulting Team Work Includes

    Shaping One Acre Fund’s expansion strategy -To help the Kenya program hit its ambitious farmer growth targets, an analyst was challenged to develop a rigorous and scalable approach to expansion. The analyst embedded with the Kenya team for 3-6 months to implement the plan with field survey design, analysis, financial modeling, and a risk assessment. This model was then rolled out across all countries’ Field Operations teams, bringing OAF closer achieving its 2020 target of reaching one million farmers.
    Conducting a Kenya program health check-up – An analyst conducted a “health check-up” of our Kenya program to identify and resolve risks by examining management quality, hiring standards, and team culture and morale. The final prioritized list of takeaways and recommendations helped the Kenya leadership team increase the program’s overall efficiency and improve staff experience.
    Coordinating the Country Directors Working Group – Our Country Directors meet periodically in a working group that generates guidance for country programs and shares cross-country knowledge. An ICT analyst sets the working group’s agenda, structures topic discussions, and helps to connect the group to the organization’s goals.
    Connecting farmers to markets in Zambia – An ICT analyst is implementing a market access intervention to help provide more impact for farmers in Zambia. The project began with a comprehensive scan of market access interventions trialed by One Acre Fund and other organizations to develop a set of best practices and recommended designs. After selecting a design, the analyst worked with the Zambia team to implement the market access trial for maize and soybeans.

    Analysts take full ownership of projects, from planning through execution and follow-up. They lead 1-3 projects at a time, manage at least one other team initiative, and are expected to tackle any type of project with a focus on solving the problem at hand. Experienced Analysts are sometimes also asked to take on direct management responsibilities for one of our Strategy Junior Analysts and help grow them into Analysts.

    Job Description
    The Team
    One Acre Fund is looking for an exceptional, seasoned professional to join our global fundraising team, as the organization continues an exciting period of fast growth. One Acre Fund aspires to be the worlds largest and most impactful non-profit organization. To a large extent, the future growth of One Acre Fund in the next ten years will hinge on our ability to mobilize funding resources and put them in service to rural farmers.
    One Acre Fund will raise over $80 million USD in 2019, becoming one of just a few hundred nonprofits founded in the past few decades to achieve this milestone, and in doing so, will fuel our field program to end chronic hunger for at least 900,000 farm families with over 3 million children. One Acre Funds unique model matches $1 of raised revenue with $3-4 of farmer revenue in our core program; fundraising also supports innovation and corporate expenses.
    The Position
    This role will report directly to the Head of Fundraising, and represents a senior leadership role on the 30-person team. This position will provide oversight of the day-to-day running of the fundraising department and strategic input on team structure, systems, and portfolio. Strong candidates must have excellent communication and management skills, be highly organized, and be capable of expertly handling a large, complex scope of people and funding projects.
    This role will work with the Head of Fundraising and senior fundraisers on the team to pursue an $80M+ annual fundraising portfolio, made up of donors from across the public, institutional, and individual donor segments. One Acre Fund is fortunate to work with some of the worlds most innovative global funding partners, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Global Innovation Fund, IKEA Foundation, Skoll Foundation, USAID-DIV, and DGIS, to name a few. Our diverse funding partners represent high stewardship responsibility, and this role must be able to collaborate across our writing, finance, and compliance teams to support responsible management of our dynamic portfolio.
    Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    40% of your time:

    Day-to-day fundraising team oversight: Provide day-to-day oversight of key fundraising activities across the department, including:

    Prospecting: Work with team members to design and evaluate research projects – to analyze new geographies and markets, identify new donors, and unlock new network-building opportunities – to build our pipeline of future funding prospects.
    Proposal and report writing: Work with grant writing team to design compelling grant proposals and reports. While this role will not directly write grants, we are looking for a candidate with strong writing skills, and the proven ability to communicate complicated ideas in a clear, simple, and inspiring way.
    Donor meetings and presentations: Work with senior fundraisers to ensure thoughtful and strategic donor interactions, via meeting prep advice, talking point review, and presentation review.

The role requires excellent people skills and project management skills, high attention to detail, stakeholder coordination and the ability to plan and achieve hiring strategies.Responsibilities IncludeThe Recruitment Interns, based in Nairobi, Kenya, will join our global-based Recruitment Team to provide support in managing our recruitment processes and improvements.

    Directly participate in general hiring by participating in trainings and interview processes and support in Field Officer hiring and partner with Hiring Managers to schedule final round interviews
    Build Hiring Manager relationships through timely and specific communication on process updates, pipeline updates, and best practices to ensure a seamless hiring process
    Expand the recruitment process by actively seeking feedback on the One Acre Fund recruitment process and recommend improvements in order to deliver excellent candidate, Hiring Manager, and Recruiter experience
    Support on recruitment process improvements. Some example projects could include:

    Young Professionals Program: Act as an integral part of the Young Professionals Program by supporting the program expansion, shortlisting qualified candidates, in accordance with the job’s requirements and conducting phone interviews, and leading the centralized candidate processing.
    Centralized Processing: Support our centralized processing team by completing tasks at various stages of our recruitment process such as job postings, new hire requests, and first-round phone interviews and implementing improvements so our work is more efficient and effective.
    Hiring Manager Certification: Support our Hiring Manager Certification program by leading knowledge management work, simplifying our systems, and/or creating video training.

     

    Provide weekly reports and attend check-ins each week with your manager to review current work, workshop ideas and ensure timely deliverables on set targets
    Act as a passionate ambassador for One Acre Fund by promoting the company as an employer of choice
    Any other duties related to One Acre Fund daily activities as may be assigned to you by your supervisor

    Job Description
    The Team
    One Acre Fund is looking for an exceptional professional to join our Business Development team, as the organization continues an exciting period of fast growth. One Acre Fund aspires to be the worlds largest and most impactful non-profit organization. To a large extent, the future growth of One Acre Fund in the next ten years will hinge on our ability to mobilize resources and put them in service to rural farmers.
    One Acre Fund will raise over $80 million USD in 2019, becoming one of just a few hundred nonprofits founded in the past few decades to achieve this milestone, and in doing so, will fuel our field program to end chronic hunger for at least 900,000 farm families with over 3 million children. One Acre Funds unique model matches $1 of raised revenue with $3-4 of farmer revenue in our core program; fundraising also supports innovation and corporate expenses.
    The Position
    This role will report directly to the Business Development Lead, and represents a senior leadership role on the team. This position will provide oversight of the day-to-day running of the department and strategic input on team structure, systems, and portfolio. Strong candidates must have excellent communication and management skills, be highly organized, and be capable of expertly handling a large, complex scope of people and funding projects.
    This role will work with the Team Lead and senior fundraisers to pursue an $80M+ annual fundraising portfolio, made up of donors from across the public, institutional, and individual donor segments. One Acre Fund is fortunate to work with some of the worlds most innovative global funding partners, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Global Innovation Fund, IKEA Foundation, Skoll Foundation, Virgin Unite, USAID-DIV, and DGIS, to name a few. Our diverse funding partners represent high stewardship responsibility, and this role must be able to collaborate across our writing, finance, and compliance teams to support responsible management of our dynamic portfolio.
    Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    40% of your time:

    Support day-to-day team oversight: The Business Development Lead oversees the global fundraising team (~28 FTE across three continents), managing the departments work across all fundraising activities, including: prospecting, proposal-writing (project design), deal-closing, and grant management. The Chief of Staff will be deployed to provide day-to-day oversight in all these areas, including:

    Prospecting: Work with team members to design and evaluate research projects – to analyze new geographies and markets, identify new donors, and unlock new network-building opportunities – to build our pipeline of future funding prospects.
    Proposal and report writing: Work with Creative (writing team) to design compelling grant proposals and reports. While this role will not directly write grants, we are looking for a candidate with strong writing skills, and the proven ability to communicate complicated ideas in a clear, simple, and inspiring way.
    Donor meetings and presentations: Work with senior fundraisers to ensure thoughtful and strategic donor interactions, via strategy consult, meeting prep advice, talking point review, and presentation review.
    Portfolio analysis and strategy: Work with Team Lead to evaluate and prioritize growing pipeline of new funding opportunities, and design strategies for pursuing.

    40% of your time:

    Team-Wide Initiatives: Directly support the Team Lead in designing and executing high-value team-wide initiatives, including annual budgeting, team hiring, managing and reviewing team-wide systems/structures, and pushing forward key process innovations and improvements.

    20% of your time:

    Strategic Input: Directly design and manage the Business Development annual OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), working through and with other leaders on the team. Additionally, contribute to the long-term fundraising strategy in collaboration with the Team Lead, the CEO, and senior fundraisers on the team.

    Qualifications
    The ideal candidate will have robust senior leadership experience, with 10+ years of relevant background in fundraising and people management. They should be able to demonstrate a track record of fundraising success and the ability to deliver through others.

    Job DescriptionWe’re looking for a full-time videographer for a six-month contract to produce professional quality short videos for One Acre Fund trainings, marketing, fundraising, and brand. We’re looking for someone with 3+ years of demonstrated professional video experience to help execute on numerous video projects over a 6-month window. Over the six-month window, the videographer will be embed with our Communications team, working from our Nairobi office with travel to rural Kenya and around East Africa for shoots. The videos will often be short 2-3 minute pieces meant to share staff stories, teach staff skills trainings, and market our brand.Specific Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

    Drafting shot lists
    Building storyboards
    Shooting with DSLRs
    Directing video shoots
    Subtitling videos in 7 or more different languages
