Job Description
The Data Analytics Team mines client and staff-level data to draw out meaningful insights that enable the different departments and leadership teams to make better informed, data-driven decisions for greater impact to our clients. Our key activities include;
Design and deliver Business Intelligence dashboards that give meaningful insights on performance at different stages of the program e.g. enrolment, prepayment, repayment and product adoption
Support Data Analysis needs of strategic program initiatives
Provide ad-hoc data requests and analytical services based on specific use-cases scoped out by different departments
Key Responsibilities
Execution
Develop Data Strategy aligned to business goals- lead the development of user stories from the different stakeholders, and translate these into data models and work plans to meet their data analysis needs.
Guide team on effective methods to extract, aggregate, transform (using a statistical computing programming language such as R/Python) and load alternative data sets onto dashboards in excel and other visualization tools
Data mining using effective methods to track patterns, classify and/or associate different data sets and build regression and predictive models
Use data visualizations tools (such as PowerBI) to build data flows and share meaningful insights with the different departments – An ideal candidate should be able to integrate excel, R and different custom data connectors to the visualization tools
Identify and implement other data transformation tools apart from R
Planning and Forecasting
Lead implementation of department-level projects to deliver key results in line with the department and organization objectives
Effectively communicate the department vision and goals to the team, translate these to project plans and effectively deploy, allocate and coordinate team resources to execute
Plan Analytics team seasonal and monthly work pipeline to ensure the team is organized and operating smoothly
Participate in relevant Working Groups to collaborate with colleagues to move forward on key initiatives.
Team Management and Training
Manage and mentor a team of 3 analysts to ensure delivery of high-quality data analysis and actionable insights for our Headquarters and field teams to drive the performance of our program.
Capacity building- An ideal candidate would be willing to build the skills of the team to provide more effective analytical support. This would include improving predictive modeling/analyses.
Strategy, Vision and Stakeholder Management
Set intermediate goals and metrics for the team in line with the department objectives. An ideal team lead would be able to match these goals to the overall department and organizational objectives
Measure progress against goals, regularly report on progress, and hold the team accountable for delivering results in key strategic areas
Oversee key stakeholder relationships and lead communication with other departments- The candidate should be able to communicate key goals of the team and assess the viability of different analysis requests and workflows against the goals and direction of the department

Qualifications
We are seeking an exceptional professional with 2-3 years of work experience in a data science/analytics role or equivalent position and ideally a demonstrated passion for our mission. Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:
Basic Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science or any other related fields
Experience in managing a team and passionate about building capabilities in others
Professional Skill Requirement
Fluency with R mandatory. Familiarity with Python and other data transformation programming languages preferred.
Fluency with using SQL/ NoSQL to pull and edit data from databases and/or data warehouse
Experienced in data mining and building regression and predictive data models
Fluency with data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Tableau. (PowerBI is highly preferred)

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, start dates can vary significantly by role. We are adapting rapidly to Covid-19 and most of our team is now working remotely. Given the changing environment, we will appreciate your flexibility in confirming a start date.
