    Remain up to date on pedagogical methods and ensure a child-friendly environment where each child’s need are identified and addressed.
    Monitor and support each learner and inform students of their progress.
    Maintain good communications with parents concerning the progress of their children.

    ALP Teacher Job Qualifications
    Have five years of teaching experience in Primary School
    Hold P1 Certificate/Education or recognized two-year Diploma in two of the following subjects: English, Kiswahili, Somali, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies or Islamic or Christian Religious Education. (Note the selected candidates will over all teaching subjects apart from language and religious studies).

    WASH Specialist

    The Regional Office is based in Nairobi, Kenya with offices and operations in Ethiopia in 2011. Since 2004, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has demonstrated a regional competence and expertise in working with displaced Somalia (Puntland, Somaliland and Mogadishu), Kenya (Dadaab and Kakuma ), Ethiopia (Addis Ababa, Dolo Ado, Shire,Gambella and Asosa), South Sudan (Juba, Awil, Alek and Aweril) and Yemen (Sa’naa and Aden).
    The NRC Horn of Africa & Yemen mission is an expanding programme. NRC started its operations in Kenya in the refugee camps in Dadaab in February 2007. NRC has WASH, Shelter, Education, Food Security and Livelihood and Information Counselling and Legal Assistant programmes implemented in the refugee camps in Dadaab, Kakuma and Mandera.
    The WASH Specialist will be responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of WASH projects in the Kenya programme.
    Roles for the WASH Specialist Job

    1.BACKGROUND

Since 2004, NRC has demonstrated a regional competence and expertise in working with displaced and refugee populations. The Regional Office is based in Nairobi, Kenya with offices and operations in Somalia (Puntland, Somaliland, and Mogadishu), Kenya (Dadaab and Kakuma),  Ethiopia (Addis Ababa, Dolo Ado, Assosa and Shire), Yemen (Sana’a and Aden), Djibouti (Ali Sabieh), South Sudan (Juba, Aweil and Alek), Uganda (Adjumani) and Tanzania (Kibondo)
    As NRC, we continually strive to strengthen our ability to assist and protect displaced persons when and where their needs are greatest.  As part of this commitment NRC is in the fourth year of running the third cohort of the Core Skills Development Programme (in NRC referred to as the Humanitarian Skills Development Programme) of the Context Humanitarian Staff Development Project that was developed and piloted by 15 leading humanitarian agencies under the Consortium of British Humanitarian Agencies (CBHA). It is based on the Core Humanitarian Competencies Framework and provides a solid basis for staff development for improved humanitarian response plus leadership and management skills for, existing personnel, at national level.
    This programme will target national staff in both programme and support functions but who are currently not in a management role drawn from our Greater Horn of Africa and Yemen operations.  
    2. PURPOSE OF CONSULTANCY
    The main purpose of the consultancy is to adapt the existing workshop materials and facilitate two workshops for staff going through the Humanitarian Skills Development Programme in the Greater Horn of Africa & Yemen mission.
    3. SCOPE OF WORK
    Deliver the workshops: Take the lead in the delivery of the two workshops that will be delivered in Kenya and each workshop will have a minimum of 20 participants and a maximum of 25.
    Adaptation of workshop Modules: The facilitators shall adapt the materials used for the two Core Skills Development Programme workshops in the Context Humanitarian Staff Development Project to the context of NRC Horn of Africa and produce/amend or compile the necessary PowerPoint presentations, handouts, reading material, tests, evaluation and feedback forms and other teaching aids.

    Electronic copies of all training modules and materials including, but not limited to, teaching aids, power point presentations, participant handouts, notes, reading material, quizzes, and feedback forms.

    6.CONSULTANT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
    First degree with at least 7 years relevant experience in economics, political science, business or public administration, development studies, international relations or related field.
    Extensive experience working in humanitarian emergencies and particularly in the Horn of Africa would be desirable.
    Excellent facilitation skills and knowledge of adult learning methodologies
    Knowledge and understanding of the CBHA Core Humanitarian Competency Framework
