    8 years’ experience working in an administrative function, with 4 of those being in an HR role, HRBP experience is required.

    Position Overview

    Educate! is seeking a driven, organized, and collaborative Field Officer with outstanding data collection, people management, and communication skills to support data collection and management of evaluation projects in its Kenya office. The Field Officer will be responsible for supervising data collection teams. He/she has direct contact with enumerators across multiple sites and is responsible to provide support to the enumerators as well as the Evaluation team to ensure that the field survey activities are implemented with efficiency. In ten years of operating in East Africa, one of Educate!’s differentiating factors has been our commitment to impact evaluation and learning, and we believe that continuing to invest in research & development is a key component of continued growth and innovation. As Field Officer, you’ll work closely with our Senior Evaluation Associates and Evaluation Specialists, as well as with our programs, design, and innovation teams, to implement our evaluation activities in Kenya.

    The right person for this role will:

    Have at least 1 year of work experience and a bachelor’s degree in a field like economics, M&E, research methods, public policy or a social science.
    Be an ultra-organized and self-motivated planner, capable of keeping multiple balls in the air with limited supervision, and a collaborative team player who can build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and engage team members over whom you won’t have direct authority.
    Be fluent in Microsoft Excel and any mobile data collection platform (e.g. surveyCTO, ODK etc.) and bring strong skills in research and large-scale data collection.

    Map out and oversee the end-to-end field logistics workflows and co-build with the MD the systems that enable last-mile distribution of program materials.

    Performance Objectives
    Relationship Management

    Manage Key relationships with both existing and potential funders.
    Work within the Educate! Relationship management framework to both own independent relationships and drive forward key relationships owned by the CEO.
    Learns and is accountable for the Educate way of relationship management, with a focus on:

    Responsiveness: Always respond to any message or request within 24 hours (and ideally within 4-6 hours if it’s within business day) – even if just to say when you’ll have an update. Always confirm that you’re working on it for things that might take longer.
    Proactive, frequent, and strategic communications: Generally, we want to have a personalized interaction of some type with all live relationships at least once a quarter. The time when someone receives your communication matters (best between 11 am Monday and 4 pm Thursday), use the “schedule to send” feature!
    Strategic prep for meetings: We never go into our funder interactions cold, we always have a strategy and a good prep document. Every interaction meaningfully moves forward our relationship in a specific way.
    Prompt follow up: After any interaction, follow up within 24 hours, and sooner if possible (ideally immediately).
    Effective record-keeping: Take notes during or immediately after interactions, and make sure these notes are sent and stored in Salesforce (ideally within 24 hours). Hone in on what’s truly the most important to remember.

    Representing Educate! Externally

    Own relationships with important funders and payers; support the CEO in meetings and relationships with the highest-level staff
    Speak on panels or at conferences about Educate!’s work.
    Network and build relationships at conferences and events, with excellent follow-up that ensures movement into active relationships.
    Identify new funding opportunities through calls for proposals and building a network of contacts at key funders.
    Build a reputation as a thought partner and advisor to potential partners and relevant institutions.
    Understand the inner workings of partner organizations and identify changes in strategy and new opportunities.

    Operationalize Agreements

    Collaborate with internal teams to understand the requirements and expectations of funders.
    Coordinate the implementation of agreements, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and internal policies.
    Monitor and track progress against agreement milestones and deliverables.
    Provide regular updates to funders on project status, including financial reporting and impact assessments.
    Identify and address any issues or challenges that may arise during the implementation of agreements.
    Support the development of funding proposals and reports to funder

    Qualifications

    A minimum of 5-7 years total work experience, with increasing responsibility and independence
    Ability to develop and implement strategic partnership and fundraising plans that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
    Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including donors, partners, and colleagues.

    As a Strategist you may work on early stage and mature programs looking to scale and will need to apply your skills and expertise to managing the different needs of each. You will work with the Group Strategists to lead initiatives that may be cross-cutting at a secondary school level, or have a subject specific focus that enable us to meet our student experience benchmark.
    We have already partnered with governments in Rwanda and Kenya to support curriculum reforms through our education system solutions, and results from a rigorous impact evaluation have shown that our cost-effective solutions create a real impact on youth through national education systems. The Strategist will work closely with the Group Strategist Scale and Sustainability, our government advocacy experts, and our programs teams in our countries of operation continue developing program models that support long-term changes to education systems and meaningful, sustainable curriculum reforms.

    The right person for this role will:

    Have experience in adult learning theory, behavioural change and systems change theories to guide the design process
    Have strong strategic communication and collaboration skills
    Have a track record in driving behaviour change programs with strong data-driven decision making abilities and a strong focus on driving positive learning outcomes.
    Experience running experiments, product development processes, or human-centered design processes is a plus.
    Have a genuine passion for working within both government education systems and youth to create a broad and sustainable impact on youth.

    Deputy Regional Director of Partnerships

    The Deputy Regional Director of Partnerships will support Educate!’s external-facing work in Kenya, Tanzania and any other country as need arises. This role will manage key partnerships through directly representing the organization to key decision-makers at the Ministry of Education and its affiliated agencies across the region. The Deputy Regional Director of Partnerships will work hand-in-hand with the Group Strategist-Policy and Partnerships on the advocacy agenda as it relates to product strategy in order to successfully deliver on that agenda. The Deputy Regional Director of Partnerships reports to the Regional Director of Partnerships.
    Additionally, the Deputy Regional Director of Partnerships in collaboration with the Regional Director of Partnerships will play a meaningful role in setting long-term strategies for how Educate! drives system-level solutions across all countries of operation and finally, this role will strengthen the organization’s overall brand by working with the Director of Communications on communication strategy, as well as represent the organization to partners and at conferences.

    Performance Objectives
    Early markets (Kenya or Tanzania) Policy & Partnership Strategy & Culture (40%)

    In partnership with the Regional Director of Partnerships oversee strategic planning for early markets (currently Kenya or Tanzania) against 3-year strategy
    As a senior leader of the team, collaborate with other team leaders to communicate and promote organizational culture and values
    Proactively communicate advocacy successes and challenges, and communicate progress against OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) across the organization through leadership calls, retreats, and other forums as needed.
    Work with the Regional P&P senior leadership to ensure strategic alignment between country product, advocacy and market growth strategies
    Overseeing and progressing partnership and advocacy goals, including creation of co-design materials and use of Educate!’s government sales process (the “DQ process”) to manage complex sales.

    Regional Team Capacity Building 20%

    Coach and train other E! staff on E!’s government engagement strategy (our DQ and complex sales approach) and design activities and structures to promote our team’s understanding of government policies
    Provide local insights to ensure teams in Kenya and Tanzania have effective DQ processes and progress through each step.
    Coach and manage ESS regional advocacy team members, as directed by the Regional Director of Partnerships
    Liaising with Group Strategist P&P to set standards and protocols for advocacy and partnerships work
    Work with the Regional Director of Partnerships to lead the development of documentation and systems to track partnership engagements, to enable high performing remote team collaboration for strategic relationship management

    Expansion Strategy 20%

    Strategy: In collaboration with the Regional Director of Partnerships set a roadmap for expansion into new countries and deploy team and resources towards key milestones.
    Networks: Source leads and open up networks. Lead scoping initiatives and partnership building within countries of operation

    Regional Stakeholder and Policy Mapping – 20%

    Stakeholder Mapping: Support ESS leadership teams map influencers and create plans to build champions and coalitions across ESS countries.
    External Representation: Represent the organization as and when required at conferences, events, and other network building opportunities.
    Policy Analysis: Analyze education policies from a variety of contexts to find opportunities to align product strategy with government interests.
    Funding opportunities: Engage with in-country payers around funding opportunities
    Pitch Materials: Help create Educate! partnership proposal materials in line with government priorities and E!’s technical standards and co-design approaches (pitch decks, concept notes, etc.)
