    The Consultancy Assignment
    The main objective of the assignment is to carry out detailed engineering design of the named water facilities and preparation of tender documents in line with project documents proposed water supply technology options.
    Scope of Work

    Assessment of proposed site and where applicable, existing infrastructure
    Conduct engineering site topographical Surveys
    On water pan sites, dig trial pits for soil suitability assessment
    Preparation of detailed engineering design of the water system Including Hydraulic design of transmission mains and distribution network and hydraulic structures as per the proposed works
    Preparation of Engineering/ technical drawings, detailed scheme layouts and topographical survey profiles
    Preparation of Engineers Estimates using standard bills of quantities in-line with proposed works
    Preparation of Technical Specifications for construction works
    Preparation of tender documents for construction of the works.
    Preparation of Detailed Implementation schedule.
    Schedule of equipment.
    Approval of designs by a professional Engineer (duly registered by EBK) and the County Government
    Submission of draft design documents for review by Concern Worldwide and WSTF.

    Job Summary:
    The Officer, Education will be responsible for the implementation of education programme activities in Marsabit County in close collaboration and support from the County Programme Manager, Marsabit and the Field Operations Coordinator.     Main Duties and Responsibilities:
    Programme management

    The incumbent will provide technical guidance as well as hands on support to the Sub County Health Management Team to strengthen their capacity and skills in the implementation of High Impact Nutrition interventions (HINI) through the integrated health systems strengthening approach and work with community groups to build their resilience and strengthen their knowledge and capacity in health and nutrition services and appropriate care taking.

    Provide technical support to MoH on delivery of High Impact Nutrition intervention components at health facilities and when need be outreach sites.

    Closely monitor the nutrition situation in the programme area.

    Job Summary:
    The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of Human Resources. S/he will lead in the development and implementation of HR strategy, policies and best practices and support the HR function in full compliance with the labour law.
    Main Duties and Responsibilities
    HR Policies, Procedures and adherence to Best Practice

    Lead in developing HR strategy, aligned with the country strategic plan, that places staff development and welfare at the core of our staff engagement
    Develop and implement strategies to deliver on key organizational HR objectives such as change, diversity, equality, inclusion, value based organizational culture and employee wellbeing.
    Advise management on emerging trends and practices and how these could be adapted to the organization context
    Responsible for ensuring that all HR policies and procedures are compliant with Kenyan labour law and aligned to HR best practices

    Talent acquisition and Management

    Develop and implement workforce planning and other initiatives that are aligned with the overall organization strategy to attract and retain the best talent
    Develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding and induction process for new employees and their management and support throughout the employee life cycle.
    Oversee implementation of employee engagement, learning and development, performance management, career and succession planning initiatives etc.

    Reward & Benefits Administration

    HR budget preparation as part of the Concern budgeting process for annual and budget revisions
    Lead salary surveys and data analysis to inform reviews of salaries and benefits packages to ensure that the organization pay and benefits package is competitive.
    Oversee the administration of staff benefits (medical, life and accident cover, pension, leave etc.)
    Lead on all national staff payroll processing using HR software.

    Learning, Training & Development

    Create and implement learning and development programs and initiatives, and institutionalize constructive feedback mechanisms.
    Advise management in conducting effective performance development reviews, succession planning, career and professional growth.
    Train, coach, mentor and appraise direct reports to optimize their potential

    Staff Relations

    Provide support to managers on employee relations ensuring that all matters are dealt in a fair and consistent manner.
    Develop coordinated and consistent approaches that strengthen staff representation mechanisms for staff engagement
    Advise on appropriate actions for prevention and response to legal issues.
    Act as focal person and the champion for the Concern Kenya Safeguarding agenda.

    Staff Separation

    Conducting and analyzing exit interviews/debriefs and making recommendations for organizational improvement

    Documentation, Reporting and Representation

    Ensure delivery of HR services in a timely and efficient manner by utilizing HRMIS.
    Oversee proper document archiving for ease of storage and retrieval in line with Data Act and organization policies on information management and disposal.
    Prepare periodic performance and progress reports.
    Represent Concern & serve on committees/teams/tasks forces as appropriate
    Coordinate organization events including staff meetings, recognition and team building
    Respond to staff queries and prepare staff communications, as needed
    Process and track Nairobi based expatriates’ visas, permits and passes.

    Person Specification
    Minimum Education, Qualifications & Experience Required:

    A Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organisational Development or relevant field
    Professional Certification in Human Resource Management
    At least seven (7) years’ experience in a similar role
    At least 3 years of HR function management with an international NGO
    Proven experience in the use HRMIS and related computer applications

    Preference will be given to candidates who have:

    High integrity and demonstrated ability to follow standards and policies
    Excellent people management, analytical, problem solving, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
    Strong leadership and management skills.

    Job Summary:
    The incumbent will take a leading role in technical development of the livelihoods programme in Kenya. This includes overseeing the implementation of high quality livelihoods programme in all areas of operation including technical support to local partners implementing livelihoods project. Responsible for the design and development of technical approaches and strategies that inform the design of proposals for the livelihoods programme, strengthening the technical competencies of livelihoods staff in Kenya programme, representing Concern Kenya programme in technical livelihoods forum at the national level and supporting relevant field staff to participate in similar forums at the field level, and lead in learning, monitoring and evaluation for the livelihoods programme. The incumbent will also represent Concern Kenya in relevant technical forums for livelihoods advocacy aimed at increasing access to basic services by communities in all areas of operation and development of sustainable food systems. Lead the development of technical briefs, research and discussion papers for the livelihoods programme. In doing so, the specialist will work closely with the Livelihoods Coordinator, other sector leads, MEAL, county leads and external stakeholders in the delivery of the roles and responsibilities.
    Main Duties and Responsibilities
    Programme Quality in Implementation

    Lead in the development of a project specific monthly implementation plan for all livelihoods projects in each of the target Counties and sub-counties. This includes both projects implemented directly by Concern and partners
    With support from MEAL, lead the development of a project specific results chain clearly identifying the links between activities, outputs, outcomes and impact. Take lead in monitoring progress and adherence to the results chain for each project
    Lead in the monthly review of the progress against the project specific implementation plan for all livelihoods projects in each of the target Counties and sub-counties.
    Lead in the technical monitoring of livelihoods projects to ensure they are implemented in line with donor commitments, Concern Livelihoods guidelines and internationally accepted programme quality standards such as LEGS, SEADS and SPHERE among others
    Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning initiatives such as but not limited to field monitoring visits, technical support in planning, coordination and implementation on assessments, surveys and evaluations.
    Support in the documentation of project activities, achievements and challenges in regular internal reports and also ensures that external reporting obligations are met.
    Support in the integration of all the livelihoods components included but not limited to Climate Smart Agriculture, Livestock production, Disaster Risk Reduction, Market Systems Development, Cash Transfer Programming, Natural Resource Management, etc.

    Programme Quality – Design

    With support from your line manager, lead in the development of technical strategies and livelihoods informing the livelihoods programme for Kenya Programme
    Lead in the technical capacity development of the livelihoods team on the strategies and approaches

    Representation in Technical Livelihoods Forums

    Together with your line manager, identify and attend all relevant technical livelihoods forums including but not limited to Kenya Food Security Meeting, Kenya Cash Working Group, Agriculture Sector Forum etc
    Establish networks and liaise with national and county government officials as well as other partners in livelihoods related sectors of agriculture, livestock, trade & enterprise development, disaster risk management etc
    Participate in national and county livelihoods technical meetings.

    At least three (3) years in a livelihoods sector management role.
    Proven experience and knowledge of Project Cycle Management, Climate Smart Agriculture, Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction, Animal Production and Health, Water Supply Systems, Natural Resource Management, Cash Transfer Programming and Market Systems Development.
    Fluency in spoken and written language in English and Swahili
    Good computing and report writing skills

    Good understanding of cross cutting issues such as gender, HIV and AIDS, DRR, etc. and how to integrate them into the livelihoods program.

    Job Summary:
    The incumbent will be responsible for introducing digital technologies and innovation in our programmes is one of key priorities and the Kenya country office The ICT4D Specialist will work very closely with the programmes team in Kenya to promote and explore innovative approaches, introduce ICT4D elements to deliver greater quality programmes and impact for beneficiaries. This will include, but not limited to, adapting existing innovation or technology products and services in programming; building partnerships and networking with innovation and technology partners to bring efficiency in programmes delivery.
    Main Duties and Responsibilities
    Technical Leadership

    Monitor digital innovation trends, policy and legal maturation, relevant funding opportunities and share with line manager.
    Develop a network of innovation and ICT4D collaborators within the country, including private sector, research institutions, innovation hubs and humanitarian & development partners for growth of digital initiatives in the country office.
    Ensure that ICT4D is incorporated in Concern Kenya’s programmes and is visible on all relevant internal platforms.

    Programme Design and Implementation

    Identification of technological and innovative solutions for using in programmes to increase efficiency and impact as well as to overcome operational challenges
    Collaborate with technical leads and field teams to develop and design tools/solutions with high potential for impact and scale, in line with contextual needs and gaps
    Take all necessary steps to introduce relevant options in programme implementation

    About the Internship Program
    The Concern Worldwide Internship Program seeks to offer hands-on experience for students and/or graduates, with the hope of providing them with an opportunity to develop skills in areas relevant to Concern’s overall organizational scope. This program is designed to provide a ‘win-win’ outcome, by enabling Interns gain practical experience in working in the humanitarian sector and by providing Concern with access to talented people.
    We are currently seeking applicants for internship in;
    Eligibility Requirements
    To be eligible to participate in the Internship Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    Be Kenyan citizens
    Be Masters, Bachelors or Diploma students from Commission for University Education (CUE) accredited tertiary level institutions studying courses that are relevant to the above programmes.
    The Masters graduates must have completed or at least finished course work.
    Undergraduates and Diploma students must be in their 3rd or 4th year of study and eligible to undertake industrial attachment/placement, as part of the course requirements. This is to be confirmed by a letter seeking industrial attachment/placement from their academic institution.
    Recently graduated i.e. within the last 12 months and unemployed.
    Must be available on a full-time basis, for the entire period of the internship which will be for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months.
    Must demonstrate good character, creativity, honesty, positive attitude, ability to learn. This will be assessed based on interviews and reference checks, including from the institution of study.
