    About the role:
    This role will be overseeing an OFDA funded nutrition research study beginning March 1, 2018 ending September 30, 2019. It is a new role with unaccompanied terms based in Nairobi, Kenya with frequent travel to Somalia, and a salary of Grade 4 €35,981- €39,979
    Concern Worldwide and the Institute for Global Health at University College London, have jointly been awarded a research project to conduct a randomized cluster controlled trial of cash transfers and behavior change communication. The study will investigate the effectiveness of the intervention against risk factors for acute child malnutrition. The trial will be conducted amongst IDP living in the Mogadishu-Afgoye Corridor. The trial was funded by OFDA for a period of 24 months full time and led by Concern Worldwide. The research project may include other sub-contracted partners that will be involved in delivering the technological solutions for behavior change communication.
    This position is under the supervision of Concern’s Programmes Director and the technical guidance of the UCL Principal Investigator (PI) and will directly manage a research field coordinator, a research study intern as well as guide the health and nutrition team on research technicalities as necessary.
    Your purpose:
    Concern is seeking to recruit a Study Coordinator for the research project. This person will work closely with colleagues in Concern and UCL to coordinate and facilitate all aspects of the study including the design and creation of audio messages used for the BCC, trial design, and implementation. In addition, this position will coordinate other health and nutrition funded research for the country programme, and ensures linkages in programming and efficiency in use of resources.
    You will be responsible for:

    Lead the development and finalisation of the OFDA funded project’s detailed study protocol and implementation work plan
    Develop questionnaires and other tools on digital data gathering platforms for all quantitative and qualitative data collection for the study, including cross sectional and /or cohort household/ child/caretaker surveys; regular context and programme monitoring data for the process evaluation.
    Ensure all data protection commitments and protocols are in place and adhered to
    Lead the organisation of the field site activities including:
    Hiring, training, and managing study staff
    Overseeing budget management
    Supervising the collection of process evaluation data.
    Supervising the collection of cross-sectional and/or cohort quantitative study data.
    Supervising the collection of qualitative study data.
    Testing and providing quality assurance of all quantitative data collection and process evaluation data collection using mobile devices and paper, through field observation and appropriate quality control tests.
    Overseeing the downloading of data from the digital data gathering systems and ensure that data are appropriately backed-up.
    Assist with data analysis and paper writing activities that may arise over the course of the study.
    Assist in preparation of monitoring (including budget) reports for the study donor.
    Input into data analysis, reports, and presentations.
    Undertake other activities as per the needs of the trial on the ground and in respect to coordination of other nutrition funded research projects.
    Assist in the development of reports, project concept notes, proposals and budgets as needed
    Represent CWW and UCL at all necessary coordination meetings or events

    Your skills and experience will include:
    Essential

    An MSc degree in epidemiology, public health, nutrition, or a related discipline
    Collection, quality assurance and basic analysis of anthropometric data.

    About the role: This is a 24 month, new role with accompanied terms based in Nairobi. The role also provides support to the South Sudan programme on the basis of 30% South Sudan and 70% Kenya. The role will involve travel to programme locations in Kenya and to Juba in South Sudan. The role has a salary of Band 5 €40,402 – €44,842**
    You will report to the Country Director, Kenya and will line manage Security, Logistics, Human Resources, Administration and IT and work closely with PD, CFC, Programme Managers, HR in Kenya; with the CD, PDs, CFC and General Systems Manager in Juba; and Logistics in Dublin, externally.
    We would like you to start as soon as possible.
    Your purpose: You will be responsible for the overall management of Concern Kenya’s support functions, which comprise administration, HR, IT, and logistics including procurement, warehousing and fleet management. You will provide support remotely and in-country when on visits to the Juba based General Systems Manager. You will ensure appropriate systems are in place to meet program needs, while ensuring the effective and efficient use of Concern’s resources. As a member of the Kenya Country Management Team, you will provide strategic direction to Concern Kenya. You will also supervise security management in country.
    You will be responsible for:

    Ensure that key Concern support policies (Procurement and Logistics, Transport, HR, IT, SMP) are continuously updated as required and appropriate to the context

    Provide technical support and on-going on-the-job training and coaching to staff

    Support to South Sudan programme

    Provide support in Nairobi in the event of South Sudan staff travelling to Nairobi for medivac; South Sudan staff temporarily relocating to Nairobi as a result of security issues.
    Act as liaison between the Kenya and South Sudan teams for any procurements being carried out through the Nairobi office
    Manage the relationship with the Bank for the South Sudan bank account held in Nairobi

    Job Background:
    The “Coordinated implementation of Cash Assistance to support Somali Households (CASH) affected by disaster” is a €10million project to be rolled out in Somalia in 2018, managed by a consortium of six international agencies, led by Concern Worldwide. This specific action will concentrate on addressing the immediate humanitarian challenges facing Somalia through multi-purpose cash assistance. The Consortium has set out both short term and longer term goals with regard to the added value it can bring to the wider cash delivery agenda. Within this, we will seek to contribute to the development of a context appropriate, unified, efficient and effective cash delivery system for Somalia.

    Job Purpose:
    Reporting to the Consortium Director and serving as a senior member of the consortium management unit (CMU), the Programme Manager is expected to contribute to the strategic thinking, planning, and overall coordination efforts of the consortium. S/he will be responsible for ensuring that a drive for quality and innovative practice is embedded in the day-to-day implementation of the project, overseeing the consortium’s technical matters related to the building of an efficient and inclusive cash payment programme. S/he will be responsible for ensuring application of standard processes and activities across partner implementation.     Manage Cash Consortium Programme Assistant
    Maintain a consistent and high level of communication with the consortium members, as well as respond and follow-up to ad-hoc donor and consortium member requests.
    Lead development, analysis and revision of post distribution monitoring surveys implemented by the Cash Consortium, ensuring that they are efficient, pertinent to decision making, rigorously cleaned and adapted at appropriate intervals.
    Lead the Consortium M&E Working Group (M&E WG), including regular data cleaning and analysis, and present its activities to the wider consortium.
    Support members to collect, analyse and keep updated on relevant post distribution monitoring data, innovative approaches and other relevant socio-economic information to inform the cash programme. Recommend and support the implementation of any adjustments needed based on contextual changes.

    Work with the Consortium Members to coordinate collection of stories, case studies, pictures, etc. for raising the profile of the humanitarian situation in Somalia
    Attend advocacy and communication meetings and calls as appropriate, including NGO Consortium Advocacy Working Group
    Represent Cash Consortium at Somalia Cash Working Group Meetings and/or Work Streams, and other relevant coordination fora, in coordination with the Cash Consortium members.
    Coordinate with ECHO and other potential donors on specific response actions as requested.
    Coordinate all cash responses closely with the BRCiS Consortium IRF and Resilience programmes, managed by NRC Somalia.
    Ensure compliance and adherence to Concern programme policies, tools and handbooks, notably the Programme Participant Protection Policy (P4).
    Support Cash Consortium members to ensure activities are carried out in accordance with agreed consortium standards and timelines, as well as the Sphere Minimum Standards and Humanitarian Charter in disaster response.
    Frequent travel to programme locations across Somalia as required for trainings, monitoring and coordination.

    Skills and Experience Required:

    Must have at least three (3) years’ experience in the humanitarian/international development sector
    University graduate or post-graduate qualification in international development or other relevant discipline or with distinction
    Experience working in Somalia or similar remote-management context, ideally applying mobile cash-based delivery
    Strong technical experience in monitoring and evaluation, including creating surveys, managing digital data gathering survey processes, cleaning data and applying analysis to decision making and managing evaluation processes.
    Ability to work efficiently, utilize complex budgets and build user-friendly tools in Excel
    Ability to work closely with field-based national staff and experience utilizing various staff training and adaptive management approaches.
