    Manager, Pathology Department Medical Officer – Quality Improvement

    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    Operate diagnostic equipment – Perform a range of diagnostic and provide care for patients during these examinations, respecting the rights of privacy and confidentiality, and to evaluate the clinical quality of the diagnostics results produced.
    Fostering the growth of patient volumes, in line with the annual budgets, through a focused delivery of high quality care and patient-sensitive service that meets or exceeds the expectations of patients.
    Leading the development of new services and initiatives that contribute to the financial sustainability of the hospital including service level agreements with other hospitals and facilities in collaboration with marketing and finance division.
    Ensuring the development and application of clinical quality management methods within the department, including practice guideline in line with ISO 15189, JCI standards, environmental management system (EMS), occupational health and safety OH&S.
    Ensure that the pathology operations comply with all legal requirements by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board and waste disposal requirements.
    Fostering good relations with physicians and other organizations with the goal of stimulating patient referrals.
    Ensuring the productive and cost-effective use of human, material and capital resources entrusted to the department.
    Ensuring excellent patient experience through scheduling, process flow management and handling customer complaints as well as overseeing the documentation for Quality Assurance and Accreditation.
    Maintenance -Coordinate periodic maintenance of all pathology equipment in line with maintenance specifications and to ensure optimal operational efficiency of the equipment
    Manage pathology inventory including inventory control and monthly stock takes in collaboration with the finance department to ensure optimal stock variance.
    Identify, deploy and motivate the team including performance appraisal, identification of training needs, mentorship and coaching as well as leave and absence management in line with the hospital’s people agenda.
    Assess the quality of new reagents and consumables required for the pathology department in liaison with procurement department and participate in the tendering process specification to define the reagents and consumables schedule requirements.
    Foster the compliance with pathology standards as well as ensuring the coordination between pathology and other clinical departments in furtherance of quality objectives of the hospital

    Qualifications & Requirements 

    Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognised institution or its equivalent.
    Minimum of 8 years’ working in a busy hospital environment.
    Previous experience with ISO15189 certification process.
    Valid membership/registration, and hold a valid practicing license with the KMLTTB. 
    A Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field is an added advantage.

    Ensure debtors remittances allocations are done same day.

    Filing payment vouchers sequentially and ensure archives are accessed with permission and only with authorized individuals. 
    Updating database of suppliers contacts on a monthly basis. 
    Ensure no documents are missing in a file by performing sequential checks on all files closed for the month 
    Preparing all departmental Official Letters. 
    Preparing doctors summary statistics for board presentation. 
    Participate in preparing the weekly finance dashboard. 
    Undertake any other duties assigned by the Head of Finance incidental to the work described herein 

    Qualifications & Requirements 

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any other related field. 
    Professional qualifications form either CPA or ACCA will be an added advantage 
    Minimum of at least one years of experience working in a similar position 
    IT proficient

    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    Carry out patient assessment, treatment and stabilisation and other specialised procedures in order to provide curative physiotherapy or occupational therapy services in line with established protocols and promote patient centricity. In addition, ensuring proper documentation and storage of patient data in line with the DPA Act 2019. 
    Strategy, policy and processes implementation -Oversee the department by providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of effective pathology and laboratory strategies, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the regulatory bodies and ensure sustainable growth of the department. 
    Fostering the growth of patient volumes, in line with the annual budgets, through a focused delivery of high quality care and patient-sensitive rehabilitation and physical medicine services that meets or exceeds the expectations of patients. 
    Leading the development of new services and initiatives that contribute to the financial sustainability and budget of the hospital. 
    Ensuring the development and application of clinical quality management methods within the department, including adherence to JCIA guidelines 
    Fostering good relations with physicians and other organizations with the goal of stimulating patient referrals to MP Shah hospital-based physicians. 
    Staff development and Planning-Provide effective and efficient planning for the department, ensuring effective manpower planning. Will also support learning and development opportunities for the direct reports, as well as undertaking an active role in the research and development initiatives for the hospital. 
    Ensuring the productive and cost-effective use of human, material and capital resources entrusted to the department. This includes a review of departmental coverage as well as supplier and other third party provider contracts to ensure that costs are controlled. 
    Responsibility for safety and Health- monitoring physical and environmental conditions at the section to ensure safety from physical, chemical and biological hazards. Will be ensure the development of policies, procedures, guidelines and safe professional practice whilst enforcing the same within the team 

    Qualifications & Requirements 

    Minimum of a Masters’ Degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution. 
    Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy 
    Master’s Degree in Business Administration of Healthcare management is preferable. 
    Must have valid membership/registration, and hold a valid practicing license with the Kenya Society of Physiotherapists. 
    Should have a minimum of 8 years working experience with 3 years at senior management level in the health care sector

    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    Patient care: Provide holistic patient care, including physical, mental, and social wellbeing 
    Respond to emergencies: Instantly respond to medical emergency and immediately alerting the senior nurse on duty and doctor on duty. 
    Administer Medication: Administer prescribed medicine to patients either orally and parenterally and there offer monitoring patients for side effects. 
    Monitoring of vital signs: Monitor and document vital signs, hydration status and conduct diagnostic tests. In the case of abnormal finding and seek help from the senior nurses or the doctor on duty. 
    Waste management: Dispose of clinical and non-clinical waste safely in accordance with MP Shah Hospital IPC Guidelines on waste management. 
    Customer care – Educate patients and family members on treatments and care plans. Answer all of patients and family member questions. 
    Liaise with other medical professionals: Work with other medical professional such as surgeons, physicians and physiotherapists that are treating the patient, updating them on the patient status, and receive orders or patient care recommendations. 
    Perform routine procedures: Conduct routine activities such as safety checks, IV insertion urinary catheterization and changing of wound dressing. 

    Qualifications & Requirements 

    Diploma in nursing 
    Must be a qualified and Registered Nurse (RN/RM/KRCHN/BSN). 
    Must have a valid licensure from the Nursing Council of Kenya. 
    Must have a Basic Life Support Certification 
    Proficient in Basic computer skills. 
    Must have an in-depth understanding of safety guidelines

    Oversight of quality and patient safety by assisting in planning and setting priorities for endocrinology department through quality improvement and patient safety activities and reviewing patient complaints and ensure a satisfactory resolution thereof with proper corrective and preventive action. 
    Work with the established consultants/specialist to ensure equitable provision of endocrinology services across the whole of the hospital. 
    Support learning and development initiatives by identity skills gaps and providing learning and development opportunities for the medical and Internal Medicine staff. Plan and direct research and development appropriate to the facility. 

    Qualifications & Requirements 

    Fellowship in endocrinology 
    Master’s Degree in Medicine or equivalent qualification in field of Medicine a recognized institution 
    Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Bachelors in Surgery 
    Must have valid membership and hold a valid practicing license in the relevant field. 
    Two years previous experience as consultant physician in internal medicine or 1 year post endocrinology training

    Research and Development. Actively involved in a wide range of research and development initiative areas and create awareness of the hospital as having research programs that are at the forefront of science in patient care. 
    Participate in quality and patient safety by assisting in planning and setting priorities for Otorhinolaryngology(ENT) department through quality improvement and patient safety activities and reviewing clinical related patient complaints and ensure a satisfactory resolution thereof with proper corrective and preventive action. 
    Work with the consultants in the department to ensure equitable provision of Otorhinolaryngology(ENT) services across the whole of the hospital. This will include collaborative working, mutual cover for leave, and ensuring adherence to principles of clinical governance. 
    Participate in Learning and Development. Support learning and development initiatives by identity skills gaps and providing learning and development opportunities for the medical and nursing staff. Plan and direct research and development appropriate to the facility. 

    Qualifications & Requirements 

    Masters of Medicine or Master of Otorhinolaryngology(ENT) Surgery.

    Computer literacy, Presentation Skills, Communication and People Skills 
    Certificate in a strategic leadership development programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution 
    Demonstrated high degree of professional competence and administrative capability as well as broad experience in Nursing and Healthcare Standards and Programmes 
    Master’s degree in any Nursing Discipline, relevant social science or Business Administration.
