The Role
The Product Operations & Strategy Director is responsible for amplifying the velocity of a business area or core service, by increasing the efficiency of the team, products, or operations. The role is cross-cutting and intense. To be successful, you will need to be collaborative, entrepreneurial and a strong communicator. You will report to the CEOs and be located in Nairobi, Kenya. You will own and have senior-level input into key services and business focus areas. You will spearhead initiatives that last for multiple quarters or years, helping to iterate on products, and leading the strategic direction of the relevant services, products, and team. The work will fall into the following areas:
Products & Services: incubate new service offerings and service extensions to assess value; work with various teams on planning and launching new products and services and expanding service scalability.
Operations: Design, implement, and improve cross-functional systems, teams and processes that Flare needs to grow at scale, including internal ops.
Partnerships and Business Development: Lead engagement of relevant project/product stakeholders and partners to drive operational scale, community and partner engagement and participation, and long-term project development.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with hands-on experience at a high growth start-up or from other senior operational roles with the following skills or characteristics:
Collaborative team member who knows how to build and inspire teams and stakeholders
Strong commercial awareness (aka good business instincts) and analytical (financial/data) skills to know what’s worth the company’s investments of time, money and people, deep understanding of prioritization strategy, and ability to hypothesize and critically assess the traction and success of initiatives
Strong presentation and communications skills that are underpinned by qualitative and quantitative data
Excellent data analysis skills and technical aptitude to understand the Flare suite of technologies and business strategy
Committed individual who will do what it takes to make the team and company successful
Ability to juggle multiple priorities
Relevant skills and competencies in healthcare, health-tech, emergency care or an otherwise relevant field
Sourcing and analyzing data and conducting research to develop strategy or design effective solutions
Curious and confident critical thinker – intentionally seeks out new ideas, and perspectives to bring them into the discussion or problem-solving process
Leader and leads by example to shape the standards for product delivery, collaboration, communication and success at the company
This will make you stand out:
You have experience working in a high-growth, VC-backed and ideally post Series A company
You have 7+ years of experience in product operations, product management, or an operational role
MBA or a relevant graduate degree
