    About the job
    Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

    In co-ordination with the DDG Regional HoP and DDG technical coordinators on conflict management and security governance, lead the strategic development of DDG’s work in Kenya and cross border initiatives into neighbouring countries.
    Support the Country Director in drafting, promoting, and rolling out of all DDG-relevant strategic planning documents in broad consultation with all staff. These documents include the country strategic plan, as well as strategies for all program sectors.
    Ensure proper understanding of these documents by relevant actors (e.g. staff members, partners, NGOs, government counterparts, and donors
    Develop and expand the DDG components of the DRC/DDG Kenya programme.
    Be a driving force in terms of developing AVR projects within the DRC/DDG Kenya programme objectives.
    Management, operational oversight, coordination and implementation of DDG projects within the DRC/DDG Kenya programme.
    Ensure high quality project implementation for DDG and DRC/DDG joint projects in accordance with donor and DRC/DDG regulations as well as in line with agreed indicators, budgets, and work plans.
    Support and supervision of DDG project staff. This includes coaching, ensuring co-ordination between local managers, recruiting and development of staff.
    Provide appropriate and timely feedback to DDG staff regarding their performance, including annual staff performance appraisals. Identify with staff their needs and opportunities for professional development.
    Responsible for budget monitoring, financial management and expenses control including compliance with minimum DRC/DDG and donor requirements and ensuring that the necessary systems are in place.

    About you
    To be successful in this role we expect you to take management responsibility for DDG’s work on Conflict Management and Security Governance in Kenya.
    You will ensure the timely delivery of planned results to quality, within budget, ensure adherence to applicable policies, oversee the capacity building of DDG project staff, spearhead fundraising and programme development, safeguard staff and assets, represent DDG’s work in Kenya and on cross border initiatives towards internal and external stakeholders, including DDG donors, contribute to planning, coordination and learning within DRC/DDG Kenya and the organisation as a whole.
    Moreover, we also expect the following:
    Required

    Advanced degree in Conflict Resolution, International Relations or other relevant field.
    A minimum of seven years working experience with peacebuilding and conflict management, including at least two years’ experience of community-level programming.
    A minimum five years of experience working in Kenya, work in the North-eastern counties (Madera, Wajir, Turkana, West Pokot) will be considered an advantage.
    A minimum of five years proven experience in conflict sensitive programming, conflict management, security governance and related fields in a management capacity.
    Proven experience in project management, including budget expenditure, donor relations, reporting, proposal writing, staff management, and monitoring and evaluation.
    Demonstrable leadership and management skills, including team building and management by example.
    Demonstrable capacity to be articulate, imaginative and innovative. The capacity to ‘think outside of the box’ is essential.
    Excellent writing and verbal skills in English for project proposals, reports, and communications
    Ability to communicate in Swahili and Somali would be considered an advantage

    Job Description
    We are looking for a skilled Programme Innovation and Private Partnership Regional Advisor for East Africa region who will deliver strategic direction on innovation and business partnerships efforts in close coordination with – and in support of – DRC field operations and DRC global strategic vision and ambition.  The Programme Innovation and Private Partnership Regional Advisor position is central in DRC’s ambitions of enhancing its capacity when it comes to humanitarian innovation and pursuing shared value partnerships with responsible private sector partners in its international programs.
    He/She is expected to support proactive and positive changes processes in DRC field programming, and form a highly dynamic and complementary task force together with the Programme Innovation and Partnership Advisors from the Middle East and West Africa region. Even though the Programme Innovation and Private Partnership Regional Advisor will be placed in the East Africa regional hub, it is expected that he/she delivers support to all DRC regions including Asia, Europe and North Africa. 
    About the job
    General Responsibilities:  

    Deliver strategic direction on programme innovation and business partnership at regional level
    Develop and support DRC’s strategic approach in a consultative manner and support the implementation at field level
    Support and deliver the development tools, guidance and facilitation of trainings/project processes in support of innovation and private partnership at regional, country and/or global level in collaboration with other network members.  

    Oversee innovation/business partnership portfolio
    While initiatives will typically be implemented directly by DRC field operations, the advisors will often be involved with partners/donors at some stage of the process. In these instances, a sustained, strategic involvement of the advisors is required to continue building relations with relevant partners/donors/stakeholders.  

    Provide strategic sparring to DRC field operations
    Working strategically with innovation and business engagement remains relatively new features of DRC’s international programs.
    The advisors shall give direction on and support efforts to enhance local capacity – including but not limited to:
    – Fundraising efforts: Oversee a central scanning for fundraising opportunities within institutional donors such as the EU, World Bank, DFID and Danida.
    If resources allow, support field operations responding to local funding opportunities.
    – Identifying and managing partners: Work with field operations to identify relevant partners and provide guidance on vetting requirements to ensure that partners meet DRC’s standards.
    – Internal training: Ensure that trainings on DRC’s tools, approach to innovation and business partnerships is developed and conducted on a regular basis to ensure that relevant staff are supported and able to use tools in practice.  

    External representation
    Taking part in seminars, conferences and other relevant events both to position DRC, engage with potential partners and stay updated on recent developments in the field.  

    Learning and information sharing

    Oversee that best practices and lessons learnt are shared within DRC and facilitate learning across the organization. Stay updated on the latest developments and build a Community of Practice (CoP) related to innovation and business partnerships.   
    About You
    The ideal candidate will meet the below requirements:
    Required:

    A minimum of 5 years of experience with humanitarian and development aid.  
     University degree or equivalent within social science and/or business administration
    A strong curiosity and passion for how to improve the work of the humanitarian sector, including technological solutions
    Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of advisory and motivating capability.
    Demonstrable abilities in establishing close and trustful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    Regional Advocacy Coordinator

    The DRC office in Nairobi is a Regional Office providing support and guidance of DRC programs in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, DR Congo and Burundi.
    The Advocacy Coordinator is responsible for identifying advocacy issues, preparing and implementing advocacy plans, documentation and communicating lessons and good practices from implementing programs to various users, and raising DRC profile with stakeholders in the EAGL region. The Advocacy Coordinator will work to advance DRC displacement related policies and positions through policy influence, research, capacity building, and development of joint advocacy and campaign initiatives related to forced displacement with relevant stakeholders.
    The Advocacy Coordinator will also be responsible for the production of background papers, briefing materials, and providing policy analysis to influence and inform displacement actors in the region and beyond. The Regional Advocacy Coordinator will work in close collaboration with the regional communications officer to ensure that our communication work and products are fully aligned with DRC advocacy strategies and policies for displacement affected populations.
    Responsibilities

    Lead the development and implementation of the regional advocacy and policy strategies. The Regional Advocacy Coordinator (RAC) will assist in the development and implementation of country and regional policy, advocacy and communication strategies.
    Represent DRC and DDG in various policy, advocacy and communication related meetings, working groups and consortiums to ensure DRC and DDG key messaging and position is incorporated into joint advocacy initiatives or messaging.
    Monitor and analyse displacement developments in the region in close collaboration with Regional and Country Offices; contribute to the formulation of relevant advocacy and policy recommendations
    Lead or contribute to research on selected political and advocacy topics related to implementation of the mandates of DRC in the EAGL region; drafting background papers and reports, compiling briefing material and providing analysis as needed
    Function as the regional advocacy focal point. The RAC will be the focal point in the region, ensuring productive and efficient two-way communication with the global Press and Communications Department in Copenhagen, Denmark and relevant staff in each Country Office throughout the region, among others. This entails keeping up-to-date on major DRC and DDG programs in the East Africa and Great Lakes region in order to identify key advocacy and policy areas that demands attention from the regional office and/or HQ. Furthermore, the RAC ator will work closely with the SMT and the CDs to ensure that senior staff and management are adequately prepared for high-level meetings, media interviews, etc.
    Quality assurance. The RAC will support the communication officer in quality assurance of products according to DRC’s brand manual in terms of layout, design and writing of various publications and visibility materials from the country offices, such as reports, educational material, banners, etc.
    Field Visits. The RAC will support the communication officer to conduct field visits to collect both written and visual documentation of DRC’s and DDG’s work in the form of photography, videos, and slideshows as well as facilitate visits from journalists with the relevant field offices when necessary.
    Support senior DRC/DDG visitors to the region; accompanying high-level visitors to field sites; drafting reports/analysis for these visits; preparing in-house briefings, publications and other material as needed.

    Regional Safety Coordinator

    The Regional Safety Coordinator (RSC) will advise and assist the Regional Director (RD), the Regional Senior Management Team (SMT) and Country Directors to develop and implement DRC’s Safety Risk Management System (SRMS) across DRC programming in the East Africa & Great Lakes (EAGL) region. Fully implementing the SRMS will ensure that DRC meets an appropriate level of duty of care for those who fall under DRC’s responsibility.
    The RSC reports to the RD with a technical line to the Global Safety Advisor (GSA) at HQ. While the RSC does not directly line manage significant numbers of safety staff, the RSC provides technical oversight and support to safety staff within the region.

    Support the implementation of safety improvement plans (SIPs), and assist in the implementation of staff capacity training plans, including the delivery and prioritization of training modules, specifically personal awareness and safety training (PAST) and incident management team (IMT) training
    Develop and maintain regional safety operating procedures (RSOPs) and support the contextualization of the RSOPs at country and area levels, as necessary
    Undertake regular MOSS audits across the region

    Technical support, advice and capacity building

    Provide technical supervision and support to all senior safety staff across the region. Develop their skills and knowledge through constructive feedback, training events and supporting personal development goals
    Assist country offices with the selection, recruitment and professional development of safety staff
    Provide regular analysis, statistics and reporting on key developments within the region
    Provide safety advice as part of programme development and during programme implementation, including programme assessments
    Identify potential scenarios, indicators of change and key decision points
    Provide operational safety briefings and orientation to new staff and visitors
    Act as the focal point for technical advice on procurement and installation of safety-related equipment
    Provide strong oversight to consortium’s where DRC is involved to ensure that an appropriate level of duty of care is maintained
    Oversee the travel clearance request system to ensure compliance

    Representation

    Be the focal point for safety co-ordination between relevant actors.
    Attend IAWG Regional Security Forum (RSF), INSO, UN and other relevant external fora
    Establish a network of contacts and represent DRC at security meetings

    Incident and crisis management and response

    Support the establishment and maintenance of the Nairobi CMT and country-level IMTs
    Coordinate the CMT in the event of a crisis
    Ensure effective country-level CIMPs are in place
    Brief CMT members on their responsibilities and ensure alternate members are available and briefed
    Assist in the management of safety incidents and provide timely and accurate incident reports

    About You

    Relevant university degree or at least 12 years’ experience in the safety and security sector not including military experience
    At least 7 years in security and safety management including international safety and security experience in several countries, preferably within EAGL region
    At least two years as a safety and security manager with an INGO at a country or regional level; preferably with experience in high risk environments within EAGL region
    Proven ability to develop and implement effective and contextualized safety and security protocols and systems
    Ability to be flexible and demonstrate an innovative approach to safety risk management
    Substantial experience in information gathering, analysis and report writing, including conducting and producing high quality SRAs.
    Demonstrated experience with critical incident management
    Demonstrated experience with delivering effective safety-related training
    Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
    Proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision

    Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

    Retain an effective team through result-oriented management systems, providing leadership, on-job capacity building and designing staff development strategies.
    Provide direct management of senior program, support and security staff; provide overview management for the entire Dadaab team.

    About you

    The Danish Demining Group (DDG) is a Humanitarian Mine Action Unit in the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). In Kenya, DDG works to improve safety, strengthen community resilience and build local capacity by taking a community-led approach to its work, involving local stakeholders and duty bearers, as well as national authorities and parties where this is appropriate.
    Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

    In co-ordination with the DDG Regional HoP and DDG technical coordinators on conflict management and security governance, lead the strategic development of DDG’s work in Kenya and cross border initiatives into neighbouring countries.
    Support the Country Director in drafting, promoting, and rolling out of all DDG-relevant strategic planning documents in broad consultation with all staff. These documents include the country strategic plan, as well as strategies for all program sectors.
    Ensure proper understanding of these documents by relevant actors (e.g. staff members, partners, NGOs, government counterparts, and donors
    Develop and expand the DDG components of the DRC/DDG Kenya programme.
    Be a driving force in terms of developing AVR projects within the DRC/DDG Kenya programme objectives.
