    Job Purpose

    With overall responsibility for the strategic direction of all aspects of the East and Southern Africa regions’ communications and public engagement work, the Director of Communications & Public Engagement will lead efforts to improve and grow World Vision’s reputation and influence, building trust with key audiences for greater organisational impact. The Director will provide oversight of core communications business across all countries where World Vision works in the regions, ensuring quality delivery of communications resources for local to global audiences, in support of the organisation’s key priorities.
    Responsibilities
    Strategy and Operations:

    In partnership with the Regional Offices and the Global Communications and Public Engagement team, the Director leads and executes an integrated communications strategy to build World Vision’s reputation and brand with key audiences.
    Directs improvements to the regions’ communications operating model to optimise ways of working, increase stewardship of resources and strengthen the quality of communications deliverables for the Partnership.
    Directs delivery of high-quality, child-focused content/multi-media packages to meet World Vision’s priority audience needs, including advocacy, external engagement, grant acquisition and other resource development activities at regional level. This includes production of high quality content packages from within the team as well as oversight of content produced from across the region for global use.
    Directs an aligned and engaging online presence that leverages World Vision’s strategy through oversight of regional office digital platforms, managed in-house, and quality assurance of national accounts.
    Engages media at regional level, in coordination with Partnership media managers, to maximise positioning opportunities with targeted outlets, developing regional spokespersons and messaging as needed.
    Directs humanitarian response communications, with a particular focus on fragile contexts, to ensure Partnership media and fundraising needs are met through talent mobilisation and provision of targeted content, proactive and reactive messaging and media spokespersons.
    Works closely with Regional Office focal points to advance communications work around the global campaign It Takes A World to End Violence Against Children, agreed Global Moments, disasters, fragile contexts, and key regional engagement initiatives.

    Team Management:

    The role performance manages together with the West Africa Communications Director, a core bureau of communications specialists and associates from within the region. Together they will deliver a focused portfolio of first-class content, media and engagement work covering development, humanitarian affairs and advocacy ministry that supports income and influence goals.
    Region-wide coordination and management national teams, through a matrix relationship (18 field offices) will include coordination with national leadership to ensure that teams are high performing, delivering on Partnership priorities and advising on capacity gaps.
    Peer facilitation will be provided to clusters of like-context national communications teams for learning, sharing and accelerated delivery of communications objectives.

    Risk Management:

    As the regional focal point on reputation risk management in East and Southern Africa, the role will identify, assess and coordinate World Vision responses to current or potential issues. The Director will escalate major issues and messaging to Global Centre risk specialists as part of the Integrated Risk Management approach.
    The Director will socialise a proactive risk management approach with leaders across the region, identifying opportunities to build reputation and decrease impact of specific risk issues.

    Regional Office:

    Strategic communications support will be provided to essential Regional Office business needs.

    Job Qualifications

    An advanced university degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or other related field.
    Excellent leadership, organisational and management skills.
    A demonstrable track record of critical and analytic thought that influences organisational direction and change, and forges strong partnerships
    Excellent presentation, written, verbal and numerical skills.
    Proven ability to provide authoritative input and solutions on strategic issues.
    Strong track record in media relations, creating constructive relationships and having the confidence to represent the organisation in the media

    Ability to define and strengthen organisational brand awareness and reputation through multiple channels. 
Experience leading/managing multiple and/or overlapping content production assignments across multiple contexts that engage, compel and demonstrate knowledge, impact and expertise.
    Proven ability to effectively team and project manage to deliver outcomes on time.
    Experience linking communication outputs with fundraising, especially in a non-profit setting.
    Demonstrated understanding of international development and humanitarian (relief) systems, and communication/donor networks working in fragile contexts.
    Fluent English is essential; knowledge of one or more regional languages is an asset.

    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

    At least ten years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communications, marketing/PR, journalism.
    Experience leading a team in the international humanitarian sector. Background/familiarity in disasters, particularly political, protracted, or slow-onset.
    Leading and supervising, formulating strategies and concepts, relating and networking, persuading and influencing, entrepreneurial thinking.
    Adopts thinking that is informed by context and practice, and shows consistency of treatment and a clear strategic focus. Able to select and evaluate critical information to plan and manage communications and public engagement for local/regional entity.
    Able to enable an efficient, effective and transparent flow of information, across entities and with key stakeholders (requiring high levels of written communication and reporting as well as clear and persuasive verbal presentation style).
    Ability to manage multiple requests and prioritise according to strategic needs, applying an agile approach to decision-making and execution.
    Experience negotiating with multiple business units in a large (40K+ employees) federated structure, preferably in a matrix management environment.
    Solid/advanced work experience at a similar level, leading communications and public engagement strategies in the NGO or private sector.

    Work Environment/Travel:

    The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% of the time.

    Ensure successful implementation of Global Fund HIV programme through a cash plus project to reduce the risk of HIV among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) aged 10-24 years in Turkana County.
    The service package for the Adolescents & Young Persons (AYP), in this project will include comprehensive health education on Adolescents Sexual Reproductive Health (ASRH), information, risk assessment and counselling on safe behavior as a minimum package of services to promote the adoption of HIV prevention behaviors and service uptake.
    Additional services to the beneficiaries includes Family Planning, Emergency Contraception, HIV Testing Services (HTS), STI screening and treatment, TB screening and treatment, ART services, PAC, Cervical cancer screening and treatment etc. The program will utilize an integrated model to ensure maximum realization of results
    The Project Officer must be able to effectively communicate World Vision’s Christian ethics and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that serves as an example to others.

    Facilitate community members to identify issues related to HIV and support community advocacy to enable the relevant stakeholders to take appropriate action towards the attainment of better health and protection status among Adolescents Girls and Young Persons.
    Support and attend stakeholder’s forum related to interventions.

    The position is responsible for leading on new initiatives that WVK will be implementing related to ‘bottom of the pyramid’ (BOP) business development, start up business support, impact investing through the Weconomy Programme, and youth empowerment initiatives.

    Weconomy Project (s) Engagement and Resource Acquisition45%

    Coordinate the overall engagement of the Weconomy initiatives as per the terms of reference designed between WVK and WV Finland

    Identify corporate donor priorities and intelligence on possible opportunities
    Ensure the delivery of resources according to planned Weconomy targets; also align this initiative with other RAM activities and ensure collaboration and support
    Identify potential business and engage other partners to participate in the Weconomy Programme in Kenya
    Communication and collaboration with World Vision Finland and other partners in Weconomy programmes
    Ensure continuous engagement and networking with relevant stakeholders of Weconomy project(s)

    In collaboration with Integrated Programs/Operations technical staff, maintain updated WVK Capacity Statements for sectors as per Corporates, SO and or Donor interests

    Participate in the production of communications resources for World Vision web and social media outlets with focus on Weconomy

    Purpose of the Position:
    To coordinate and ensure the successful implementation of WASH grants activities and interventions that directly contributes to the attainment of child wellbeing aspirations. The incumbent will oversee implementation, documentation of WASH grants projects, mobilize appropriate resources for any new opportunity for a similar grant and undertake capacity building of the project staff

    Supervision and timely implementation of WASH grants 40%

    Provide innovative and strategic leadership, effective management and timely administrative support for WASH grants interventions;
    Ensure that business processes, standards and guidelines related to initiatives developed in coordination with NO WASH team are effectively implemented by the relevant APs.
    Ensure that requisite monitoring tools (4D matrices, DIPs, ITTs and Log frames), donor guidelines are adhered to by the relevant ADPs.

    Oversee Implementation of WASH to ensure quality, effectiveness as per the project design and guidelines.
    Ensure that all WASH interventions of these projects meet or exceed planned outcomes and are implemented in full compliance with GOK, WHO, SPHERE and other relevant partnership and international standards and guidelines;
    Collaborate with the NO WASH to provide ADPs with the appropriate technical orientation needed to achieve child wellbeing outcomes;
    Ensure that all staff implementing these projects meet or exceed basic professional requirements and conduct themselves in accordance with WV policies and principals;
    Ensure that all staff implementing these projects are successfully engaging with key internal and external stakeholders, including other WVK entities (F, P&C) as well as Support Office, Community, government, church and other civil society representatives in order to maximize the impact of interventions
    Collaborate with NO WASH team to provide relevant ADPs with the appropriate technical orientation needed to achieve proposed child wellbeing outcomes.

    Monitoring, Evaluation and budget Utilization 20%

    Coordinate in liaison with the NO WASH team to effectively support the relevant ADP WASH and Construction staff to carry out monitoring and evaluation activities in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures;
    Conduct field monitoring visits to ADPs implementing the relevant projects. He/she is also responsible for facilitating visiting delegations/donors
    Provide financial oversight and budget utilization for the projects

    Support timely development of funding proposals in line with donor requirements and WVK standards in collaboration with ADP leadership, NO WASH specialist and grant acquisition Group.

    Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University

    Purpose of the Position:
    To support well-coordinated and targeted resource acquisition and donor/stakeholder engagement efforts based on WVK – L&R areas of priority. This assignment focuses on contributing to development of fundraising strategy, setting priorities, goals and budgets, researching and identifying potential donors and communicating with current donors, writing proposals, making presentations to donors and stakeholders and maintaining donor data base.
    The incumbent should deliver resource growth through:-

    Building and delivering joint donor acquisition and engagement plans as part of activities supported by the Livelihoods and Resiliency Unit (Food Security, Economic Development, Environment & Climate Change)
    Design and deliver specific activities to recruit new donors;
    Design and deliver communication plans to engage and uplift existing donors
    Write concept/proposal for Food Security, Economic Development, Environment & Climate Change;

    Purpose Of The Position
    The purpose of this position is to ensure that BORESHA project (World Vision International (WVI) deliverables) develops a fully functional M&E system that can facilitate constant review of progress on project implementation –both within World Vision project management and in the Boresha Consortium partners. Boresha Project operates in three countries under the Mandera Triangle (Mandera Kenya, Somalia and Southern Ethiopia) implemented by DRC as Lead, World Vision International (World Vision Kenya and World Vision Somalia), Care Kenya/Somalia/Ethiopia and WYG. Therefore, the M&E officer will be instrumental in developing, nurturing and adhering to laid down mechanisms of the project in line with consortium and donor requirements. The job holder will provide leadership in M&E at project level in WV operation sites (Mandera and Somalia) and will ensure that accountability mechanisms are mainstreamed.
    This position will be responsible for facilitating baseline processes, developing M&E Plan (key indicators) and benchmarks for M&E in the project: – Design of tools, data collection and analysis and periodical sharing of findings with all the stakeholders. The M&E officer will also be responsible for establishing and facilitating a learning culture and documentation of learning within the project and all stakeholders. The officer will develop also be responsible for preparing progress reports (Weekly reports, situation reports – Sitrep), Quarterly reports and Yearly reports, Change stories etc as per the requirements for review and submission to Project Manager. The position will also be expected to integrate the grant with other Child Well-being outcomes in line with the WVK Strategic priorities.
    Major Responsibilities

    Monitor and ensure that grant is managed and executed with excellence as per plans within time and budgets, meeting donor and community accountability.
    Provide leadership in branding and profiling the project (BORESHA) and organization in the county
    Ensure weekly and monthly planning and budgeting process is aligned project overall budget and Detailed Implementation Plan and operating smoothly. Provide innovative and technical support for effective implementation of key activity projects
    Participate in staff and community capacity building initiatives as stipulated in project designs and guidelines as well as promoting relevant NRM and Livelihood models in the BORESHA Program
    Provide strong and positive leadership to the WVK Boresha team ensuring competent and motivated staff in consultation with

    Support development of ToR in collaboration with other project teams and identify specific data requirements as is required
