    Purpose of the position:
    To ensure the successful implementation and monitoring of the education and protection project ensuring gender and disability integration for improved wellbeing of children.
    In order to perform this role effectively, the Project Officer must be able to effectively communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that serves as an example to others.
    Major Responsibilities:

    Project design, Planning and Implementation 30%

    Provide effective, innovative and technical leadership in the education & protection (gender, child protection, disability) project management
    Ensure sector programming with a focus on the Most Vulnerable Children (MVC) from the ADP community
    Design appropriate strategies (specific sector interventions) that prioritize needy areas
    Collaborate with relevant line ministries to implement education, gender, child protection and disability interventions within the ADP
    Contextualize and adopt the national education, gender, child protection, and disability technical guidelines /designs at the ADP level
    Ensure documentation of ADP education and protection (gender, child protection, disability) gaps, interventions and impacts
    Ensure accurate and quality education and protection (gender, child protection, disability) PDDs
    Develop quality education and protection (gender, child protection, and disability) project AoP’s and 4D matrix
    Lead in timely mobilization and effective communication with communities and stakeholders during baselines, evaluations and other relevant education and protection (gender, child protection and disability) programming activities
    Ensure equity in education and protection (gender, child protection, disability) by focusing on the Most Vulnerable Ensure effective integration of peace building and environment themes including appropriate linkage with other sector priorities
    Provide technical guidance in enhancement of literacy skills for the targeted girls and boys including development of locally made reading materials.
    Ensure gender responsiveness in all interventions including anti FGM campaigns, Alternative Rights Passage and End Violence Against Children
    Ensure equity in education and protection by focusing on the Most Vulnerable Children (MVC) and particularly girls and boys.

    Quality Assurance – Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation 25%

    Engage relevant education, gender, child protection and disability community leaders and partners in planning and monitoring activities
    Ensure alignment of all education and protection DME activities with the stipulated DME standards
    Guide the education, gender, child protection, disability, community leaders and other partners in monitoring education progress on a scheduled basis
    Analyze, share and appropriately utilize the education and protection ( gender, child protection, disability) information gathered in all ADP monitoring activities
    Facilitate regular reflection meetings to ensure action on all issues from the monitoring reports.
    Develop quality education and protection (gender, child protection, disability) reports whether Annual, Semi-annul or Monthly Management Reports in line with WV reporting guidelines.
    Identify best practices in education and protection at the ADP for documentation
    Facilitate the community in identification and responding to quality education and protection (gender, child protection, disability) needs
    Ensure effective integration of education and protection (gender, child protection, disability) interventions with other projects in the program.

    Enhanced Empowerment & Capacity building 10%

    Mobilize community members and facilitate empowerment programmes for ownership and sustainability of the education and protection( gender, child protection, disability) project activities
    Build capacity of communities and partners on integration for synergy & community based monitoring for sustainability of education and protection interventions
    Establish specific capacity building mechanisms for effective delivery & sustainability of project interventions
    Build the capacity of education and protection partners (e.g PTAs,BoMs, CBOs, AACs) to enable them effectively intervene in education & Child Protection.
    Take a lead in building ADP staff and community capacities in education & protection through trainings and other information sharing avenues to handle project activities effectively
    Together with partners, conduct regular reflection and learning events
    Facilitate mentorship, lifeskills and peer programme for boys and girls and especially the rescued girls
    Facilitate Empowerment of girls, and women in the focus AP in order to break the cycle of poverty and discrimination.
    Spiritual nurture of children – partners & institutions
    Engage, empower and equip staff and partners to implement spiritual nurture of children and youth
    Mobilise and empower the Church and other faith groups to implement Channels of Hope on Child Protection & gender.

    Advocacy, Engagement, Networking and Partnerships 10%

    Gather and provide quality feedback and data to be used to develop technical papers and recommendations on key issues for external engagement with decision makers
    Establish and sustain working relationships with Government Departments and Agencies relevant to the programme’s focus area at the Ward, Sub County and County levels
    Participate in the Annual County Government’s Planning and Budgeting process and influence resource allocation to the priority needs of the most vulnerable groups within the Programme Area
    Ensure that Program participants and partners are kept informed of all the Government laws and policies in respect to the Technical Program being implemented and any changes to government laws, policies and budgets
    Work with partners and coalitions to engage in advocacy activities with the government structures at the County level, to address the needs of local communities and inform national level advocacy initiatives
    Work with community groups to utilize advocacy approaches such as Citizen Voice and Action (CVA) and Child Protection Advocacy (CPA) to enable service users and local partners to engage directly with local government service providers to improve the quality of government services for children and to generate information and evidence for use in national level advocacy work.
    Ensure effective mobilisation of community groups, youth and children, empowering them to hold their governments to account

    Provide information to inform fund raising initiatives for education, gender, child protection and disability at all levels
    Develop timely and accurate funding proposals in line with donor requirements and WVK standards in collaboration with ADP Manager and other sector specialists

    Ensuring Integrated Sponsorship monitoring

    Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

    Job Purpose

    With overall responsibility for the strategic direction of all aspects of the East and Southern Africa regions’ communications and public engagement work, the Director of Communications & Public Engagement will lead efforts to improve and grow World Vision’s reputation and influence, building trust with key audiences for greater organisational impact. The Director will provide oversight of core communications business across all countries where World Vision works in the regions, ensuring quality delivery of communications resources for local to global audiences, in support of the organisation’s key priorities.
    Responsibilities
    Strategy and Operations:

    In partnership with the Regional Offices and the Global Communications and Public Engagement team, the Director leads and executes an integrated communications strategy to build World Vision’s reputation and brand with key audiences.
    Directs improvements to the regions’ communications operating model to optimise ways of working, increase stewardship of resources and strengthen the quality of communications deliverables for the Partnership.
    Directs delivery of high-quality, child-focused content/multi-media packages to meet World Vision’s priority audience needs, including advocacy, external engagement, grant acquisition and other resource development activities at regional level. This includes production of high quality content packages from within the team as well as oversight of content produced from across the region for global use.
    Directs an aligned and engaging online presence that leverages World Vision’s strategy through oversight of regional office digital platforms, managed in-house, and quality assurance of national accounts.
    Engages media at regional level, in coordination with Partnership media managers, to maximise positioning opportunities with targeted outlets, developing regional spokespersons and messaging as needed.
    Directs humanitarian response communications, with a particular focus on fragile contexts, to ensure Partnership media and fundraising needs are met through talent mobilisation and provision of targeted content, proactive and reactive messaging and media spokespersons.
    Works closely with Regional Office focal points to advance communications work around the global campaign It Takes A World to End Violence Against Children, agreed Global Moments, disasters, fragile contexts, and key regional engagement initiatives.

    Team Management:

    The role performance manages together with the West Africa Communications Director, a core bureau of communications specialists and associates from within the region. Together they will deliver a focused portfolio of first-class content, media and engagement work covering development, humanitarian affairs and advocacy ministry that supports income and influence goals.
    Region-wide coordination and management national teams, through a matrix relationship (18 field offices) will include coordination with national leadership to ensure that teams are high performing, delivering on Partnership priorities and advising on capacity gaps.
    Peer facilitation will be provided to clusters of like-context national communications teams for learning, sharing and accelerated delivery of communications objectives.

    Risk Management:

    As the regional focal point on reputation risk management in East and Southern Africa, the role will identify, assess and coordinate World Vision responses to current or potential issues. The Director will escalate major issues and messaging to Global Centre risk specialists as part of the Integrated Risk Management approach.
    The Director will socialise a proactive risk management approach with leaders across the region, identifying opportunities to build reputation and decrease impact of specific risk issues.

    Regional Office:

    Strategic communications support will be provided to essential Regional Office business needs.

    Job Qualifications

    Purpose of the Position:
    To coordinate and ensure the successful implementation of WASH grants activities and interventions that directly contributes to the attainment of child wellbeing aspirations. The incumbent will oversee implementation, documentation of WASH grants projects, mobilize appropriate resources for any new opportunity for a similar grant and undertake capacity building of the project staff
    In order to successfully do so, the grant coordinator must be able to effectively communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that serves as an example to others.
    Major Responsibilities:

    Supervision and timely implementation of WASH grants 40%

    Provide innovative and strategic leadership, effective management and timely administrative support for WASH grants interventions;
    Ensure that business processes, standards and guidelines related to initiatives developed in coordination with NO WASH team are effectively implemented by the relevant APs.
    Ensure that requisite monitoring tools (4D matrices, DIPs, ITTs and Log frames), donor guidelines are adhered to by the relevant ADPs.
    Coordinate in liaison with the National WASH coordinator to effectively support relevant ADP WASH staff to carry out assessments, designs, measurements of construction and in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures
    Review all engineering surveys, assessments, evaluations, studies, designs and terms of reference and bills of quantities from the relevant ADPs
    Collaborate with all line ministries and other relevant departments in providing technical support and assistance related to WASH projects

    Quality Assurance, engagement with partners and provide technical support to staff 30%

    Oversee Implementation of WASH to ensure quality, effectiveness as per the project design and guidelines.
    Ensure that all WASH interventions of these projects meet or exceed planned outcomes and are implemented in full compliance with GOK, WHO, SPHERE and other relevant partnership and international standards and guidelines;
    Collaborate with the NO WASH to provide ADPs with the appropriate technical orientation needed to achieve child wellbeing outcomes;
    Ensure that all staff implementing these projects meet or exceed basic professional requirements and conduct themselves in accordance with WV policies and principals;
    Ensure that all staff implementing these projects are successfully engaging with key internal and external stakeholders, including other WVK entities (F, P&C) as well as Support Office, Community, government, church and other civil society representatives in order to maximize the impact of interventions
    Collaborate with NO WASH team to provide relevant ADPs with the appropriate technical orientation needed to achieve proposed child wellbeing outcomes.

    Monitoring, Evaluation and budget Utilization 20%

    Coordinate in liaison with the NO WASH team to effectively support the relevant ADP WASH and Construction staff to carry out monitoring and evaluation activities in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures;
    Conduct field monitoring visits to ADPs implementing the relevant projects. He/she is also responsible for facilitating visiting delegations/donors
    Provide financial oversight and budget utilization for the projects
    Collaborate with Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and other relevant departments in providing technical support and assistance to the projects
    Capacity building of staff and communities as stipulated in project designs and guidelines as well as promoting relevant advocacy on WASH issues
    Ensure that ADP staff monitor the timely and effective implementation of response plans to all financial and operational audit findings of the projects initiatives, and take the needed measures to prevent such findings from recurring in the future
    In liaison with the regional program enhancement officer and NO WASH team, develop TOR for projects evaluations.

    Preparation of implementation reports, documentation of best practices and fundraising 10%

    Review and consolidated monthly, quarterly, semi- annual, annual, and end of projects reports and ensure that the reports are prepared in a timely manner and in accordance with donors and WV Kenya requirements.
    Ensure that appropriate donor engagement and proposal development activities are successfully carried out as appropriate
    Support timely development of funding proposals in line with donor requirements and WVK standards in collaboration with ADP leadership, NO WASH specialist and grant acquisition Group.
    Document and disseminate best practices on completed initiatives and projects.

This assignment focuses on contributing to development of fundraising strategy, setting priorities, goals and budgets, researching and identifying potential donors and communicating with current donors, writing proposals, making presentations to donors and stakeholders and maintaining donor data base.
    The incumbent should deliver resource growth through:-

    Building and delivering joint donor acquisition and engagement plans as part of activities supported by the Livelihoods and Resiliency Unit (Food Security, Economic Development, Environment & Climate Change)
    Design and deliver specific activities to recruit new donors;
    Design and deliver communication plans to engage and uplift existing donors
    Write concept/proposal for Food Security, Economic Development, Environment & Climate Change;

    Experience in dealing with bilateral, multi-lateral donors as well as the private sector;
    Self-driven and adherence to timelines (able to deliver within tight timelines).
