    Purpose of Position

    To provide programmatic and technical management support and leadership in the implementation of the Kenya Big Dream program in Samburu County, contributing to empowerment of Households to protect, nurture and support girls and boys from all forms of abuse and to improve children wellbeing outcomes within the respective areas as guided by National Office Strategy. The position holder will ensure the effective and efficient implementation of activities directly related to Food Security, Livelihood & Economic empowerment and child protection and participation.
    To effectively communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that serves as an example to others

    Major Responsibilities
    Project Management 40%

    Ensure proper planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Kenya Big Dream project interventions in the project areas.
    Provide technical support and leadership to Project Officers, Accountant and drivers to enable them effectively guide and support project interventions in the County.
    Ensure all project interventions are implemented within schedule, plans and budgets and regularly review project status.
    Ensure that the project interventions are integrated with the Technical Programmes and cross cutting themes.
    Ensure identification of local needs and resources and take appropriate programming measures.
    Ensure Mainstreaming of cross-cutting issues (Gender, CC, environment, advocacy, disability etc) across all project interventions
    Establish operational priorities and monitor performance targets for the respective field project staff
    Ensure that project initiatives meet or exceed planned outcomes and are implemented in full compliance with WVK, the donor and other relevant partnership and international standards and guidelines.
    Ensure that managerial, administrative, and financial procedures comply with World Vision and donor guidelines, policies, business processes.
    Serve as the official contact person and provide overall project management and strategic direction for the project.

    Design Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation 25%

    Lead in the development of the project design and ensure compliance with WVK and donor guidelines and standards.
    Work closely with MEAL Officer to effectively support the project to carry out all tracking and assessments –baselines, assessments, monitoring and evaluations – in accordance with donor requirements.
    Ensure timely and effective implementation of all project interventions as well as the successful achievement of project outcomes, outputs and intended impacts.
    Ensure timely and appropriate utilization of the budgeted project resources.
    Ensure proper application of business processes, standards and guidelines related to the project in accordance with the donor requirements.
    Ensure that the project achieves acceptable financial and operational audit results by implementing activities in accordance with established norm and policies.
    Ensure that all the activities are implemented and evaluated in accordance with the WVK and donor standards.
    Support the project officers to set up and maintain effective complaints and feedback mechanisms to ensure that beneficiary concerns are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
    Ensure that an effective and participatory and effective M&E system is established in a decentralized manner.
    Ensure that, in general, project monitoring arrangements comply with the project agreement and, in particular, the provisions of this agreement are fully observed in the design of project M&E.
    Ensure quality monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annual reports are compiled and submitted in a timely manner in line with the donor requirements.
    Ensure a joint monitoring schedule is in place and executed.
    In consultations with Communications office, develop context specific and appropriate documentation on best practices and lessons learnt.
    In consultation with MEAL officer, ensure effective reflection and learning forums in the county.

    Capacity Building 15%

    Identification and sharing of capacity building gaps among project staff, communities and partners.
    Leadthe project in capacity building initiatives for staff, communities and partners to enable them effectively advocate for and implement project interventions.
    Ensure ongoing coaching and mentoring of project staff in order to ensure that they are able to perform and achieve the desired results.

    Advocacy, Engagement and Networking 10%

    Ensure adequate representation with the donor, the Government of Kenya officials (National and County), private sector, Civil Society Groups, including Faith-Based Groups.
    Ensure close working collaboration with key Government line ministries and other like-minded partners.
    Ensure that Project beneficiaries and partners are kept informed of all the Government laws and policies in respect to the Technical aspects being implemented and any changes to government laws, policies and budgets.
    Ensure effective mobilization of community groups, youth and children, empowering them to hold their governments to accountable through utilization of advocacy approaches such as Citizen Voice and Action (CVA) and Child Protection Advocacy (CPA)
    Actively participate and contribute to County level technical working groups to learn, share and inform policies/strategies relevant to project.

    Resource Mobilization 5%

    Map resource mobilization opportunities at local level and develop concepts and proposals in collaboration with the Cluster, Regional and National office teams.
    Mobilize the community for community contribution for project interventions.
    Facilitate successful donor visits.
    Ensure organizational visibility at the county level and beyond.

    Other Duties 5%

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Sciences/Agronomy/Horticulture/Agricultural Economics/Business Management or a closely related field from a recognized university.
    Minimum three years of work experience in local value chains development, Savings for Transformation, Ultra-poor graduation and Building secure Livelihood project models, economic development, food security projects and other related sectors
    Good understanding of gender and child protection mainstreaming in AFS and ED projects.
    Ability to conduct community L&R needs assessment, project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of L&R interventions.
    Excellent English communication skills (both oral and written).
    A team player, capable of building staff and community capacity in L & R projects through training.
    Ability to take initiative, a team leader able to work with minimum supervision
    Cross-cultural sensitivity and emotional maturity and ability to incarnate in the community
    Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural and inter-faith contexts.
    Proficient in English and Kiswahili.
    Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Lotus Notes (or another main email system such as Microsoft Outlook)
    Any knowledge on Empowered World View, Celebrating Families, Disaster Management, Peace building, Gender-responsive programming initiatives will be an added advantage.
    Minimum three years proven experience in working/programming in either relief or development including implementing L&R projects
    Experience in project design, proposal writing, needs assessments, surveys, and information management.
    Must have ability to develop good working relationships/partnership developed with all stakeholders (GoK, INGOs)
    Experience in supervising, training, and coaching.

    Major Responsibilities

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
    The role of the Regional People & Culture Manager:

    To provide project management and data management support to the Regional P&C Business Partner, across the whole Africa region and support to French speaking countries.

    To be a trusted P&C Regional manager in Africa region supporting Regional P & C BP to ensure that there is high quality leadership guidance and technical support to the CEOs and the People & Culture Managers in VisionFund’s Microfinance Institutions (MFIs). This helps the MFIs to achieve their double bottom line of social impact and financial sustainability. This role will be responsible for driving quality improvement and efficiency in MFIs’ people processes, data collection & analysis of Regional reports and ensuring MFI adherence to standardized people related processes across the MFI network within the assigned MFIs. This role will work closely to partner with and be a trusted advisor and capacity-builder, for the MFI P&C Teams and the MFI Senior Management teams.

    This role will provide support to the Regional P&C Business Partner in assigned specialisms in different MFIs. Assigned specialisms could be developing, rolling out and reviewing region-wide people related initiatives relating to both P&C and Operations strategic directives (e.g. talent management, job evaluation, salary benchmarking, employee relations, performance management, succession planning, recruitment etc.). The role will be responsible for implementing and ensuring MFI adherence to standardized people related processes across their MFIs with focus to French speaking MFIS.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Manages P&C Data & Reporting for the Region:

    Support, influence and collect data from MFI P&C teams with an aim of providing the Regional P & C BP, MFI leaders and Regional Leaders with data and analysis for effective decision-making process on People both at MFI & Board levels helping to influence their SMT and Board of Directors.
    Act as a support and escalation point for P & C managers at MFI level with regard to data and reporting.
    Train and Support MFIs in making best use of the HR system.

    Drives Compliance and Quality of P&C Africa Region:

    Consistently Support in P&C controls, policies and processes, to ensure there is no significant ratings in P&C audit.
    Monitor & Evaluate agreed action plan in audit report/findings within agreed timelines and standards.
    Work collaboratively with the MFI P&C, MFI SMT and regional team to implement and improve standardisation of process & policy within the regional MFI network.
    Support MFIs’ P & C managers in improving their Sourcing & recruitment of MFI staff. For senior leadership vacancies in MFIs ensure there is good process and ensure that there is Capable high achieving workforce at MFI SLT level.

    Facilitate Orientation at Regional level for all new MFI senior leaders in designated MFIs:

    Support, influence and provide advice to MFI P&C teams with an aim of helping to influence their SMT and Board of Directors and implementing both Partnership wide initiatives and MFI initiatives within allocated region. Oversee and manage implementation making insightful adjustments and recommendations tailored to the specific MFI audience.
    Provide trusted advice and recommendations to the MFI & Regional Leaders to achieve Effective & Efficient People related Priorities to add value to business decisions.
    Conduct Performance management assessment & Audit/ Spot checks for MFIs.
    Ensure that partnership policies are implemented at MFIs & all revisions escalated for Approval.
    Act as P & C manager in designated MFIs when P&C Manager roles are vacant.
    Visit & Support to MFIs’ operations to address People Challenges.

    Hay Grading and Reward Benchmarking:

    Provide oversight of Hay grading Initiative & Consultant identification and ensure that Process is fully adhered to by MFIs.

    Employee Relations:

    Manage IIM system follow up and closure of Employee related matters in assigned MFIs.
    Investigation of Whistle-blower-related employment relations issues at MFIs, as a Trained Level 2 Investigator. Supports and guides the Trained Level 1 Investigators (who are in MFIs).
    Manage the safeguarding initiatives for the Africa Region

    Other:
    Any other assignment given at Regional & MFI level which includes but not limited to:

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Minimum Bachelor’s degree in HR or equivalent.

    Substantial experience in a HR Management/ Advisory role.
    Experience in and understanding of a financial institution.

    Preferred:

    Purpose of Position
    To contribute to reduced Maternal and Neonatal Mortality in Kakuma project and programme sites through increased access and utilization of maternal and neonatal health services.
    To successfully do so, the Officer must be able to effectively communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that serves as an example to others.
    Major Responsibilities
    Project Implementation & Management (40 %)

    Conduct/Support stakeholder’s forum on Respectful Maternity Care RMC], Mother Baby Kit[MBK]/Individual Birth Planning[IBP] agenda.
    Distribution of MBKs to target facilities and target beneficiaries.
    Contextualize/adopt design guidelines and utilize at the Program Area/Project level.
    Conduct Knowledge Attitude and Practices (KAP) Assessment for MNH services and interventions in target health facilities.
    Develop and distribute IECs with relevant MNH messaging for MBP.
    Hold facility Health talks on male involvement in MNH services agenda.
    Sensitize men and women on Individual Birth Plan (IBP) & Birth Notification.
    Support community dialogue forums with IBP/MBK agenda with the link facility.
    Communications; Document & Share Key lessons and change stories on IBP/MBKs.
    Ensure ware house and inventory management.
    Ensure effective integration of gender, child protection, disability, Christian commitment, advocacy and environmental protection into Health interventions.
    Ensure participation in Sub County level partnerships with NGOs and other actors.

    Project Monitoring & Evaluation (25%)

    Engage community leaders and partners in the planning of the monitoring activities in an appropriate manner.
    Develop monitoring plan with communities and partners agreeing on the required standards for monitoring, with support from the Regional M & E.
    Ensure monthly monitoring of indicators as per schedule developed together with communities and partners.
    Analyse and utilize Maternal and Newborn Child Health data and take appropriate programming measures as may apply.
    Ensure participatory monthly data collection (involving community groups and partners).
    Support the utilization of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health DME softwares for accurate data entry and analysis using the standardized tools.
    Facilitate regular reflections on monitoring practice to make improvements as needed.
    Contextualize and utilize reporting guidelines.
    Develop quality reports CWB, Annual, Semi-annul and Monthly Management Report in-line with WV and donor reporting guidelines.
    Ensure documentation of local needs and resources.
    Identify best practices on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health within the ADP/Project for documentation.
    Liaise for guidance in documentation of best practices from the regional office and national office.

    Capacity building, 15%

    Capacity Building of CHVs and Committees to be able to effectively manage and sustain Maternal, Newborn and Child Health interventions.
    Capacity building of ADP /project staff on integration of maternal and Newborn project activities in ongoing programme / project interventions staff and communities members in programming and implementation of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health projects, empowerment and sustainability issues including empowered World View.
    Work with MOH to conduct training and support supervision to targeted groups on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health projects empowerment and sustainability training sessions.
    Built the capacity of the Church and other faith groups to implement Maternal and New born project activities.

    Advocacy & Networking (10%)

    Establish and sustain working relationships with Government Departments and Agencies relevant to the programme’s focus area at the Ward, Sub County and County levels.
    Participate in the Annual County Government’s Planning and Budgeting process and influence resource allocation to the priority needs of the most vulnerable groups
    Ensure that Program participants and partners are kept informed of all the Government laws and policies in respect to maternal and new born health any impact caused or to be caused by the government laws, policies and budgets.
    Work with partners and coalitions to engage in advocacy activities with the government structures at the Sub county /County level, to address the needs of local communities and inform national level advocacy initiatives.
    Support communities’ groups, youth and children to engage constructively with duty bearers and service providers to improve access to, and quality of, essential services for maternal and new born health.

    Resource Mobilization (5%)

    Provide information to inform fund raising initiatives for Maternal, New born and Child Health
    Develop a concept note / proposal for additional resources for maternal, new-born and child health interventions.
    Mobilize the community for community contribution to support project interventions.

    Others (5%)

    Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Minimum of Bachelor degree in Public Health, Nursing Sciences, Nutrition or related field.
    Have alteast two (2) years’ experience in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health programming.
    Good mathematical and analytical skills Good understanding of Ministry of health systems, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health programming models, standards and guidelines, Ministries of Health structures at county and national levels.
    Familiarity of national Maternal, Newborn and Child Health policy and advocacy instruments and structures.
    First-hand experience health programming in complex emergencies is an added advantage
    Significant experience working with an NGO environment, community and people’s groups, state institutions etc.
    Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Swahili.
    Computer literate.

  • Media Officer

    Media Officer

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
    Reporting to the Director of Media and Social Media Engagement the Media Officer will play a central role in creating and disseminating media focussed material for the World Vision partnership. They will be the World Vision International (WVI) media point person and will respond to media enquiries from World Vision media leads and international media outlets. They will create key media messaging, be responsible for overseeing partnership wide dissemination of media content and manage media monitoring and analysis. This person will work closely with media departments across the partnership to ensure that media focused communications are strategically shared and coordinated. She or he will be an articulate and talented communicator, with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, a passion for the work that World Vision does and a commitment to creating international media awareness of it.
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Write, edit, and internally distribute content, including key messaging documents, press releases, website content, and other communications materials.
    Manage media monitoring and analysis tool, maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics. Provide WV partnership media leaders with ongoing media updates.
    Coordinate media leads and ensure that all World Vision offices continuously communicate with each other. This will include the management of ongoing partnership media leaders update calls and skype chats.
    Work with Communications and Media managers in World Vision offices across the partnership to establish relationships with key global media outlets.
    Work with the Director of Media and Social Media Engagement to develop and implement an effective strategy for media engagement.
    Create and edit key communications documents and guidelines to inform the partnership on communications strategy and best practice.
    Manage and coordinate World Vision International media trips.
    Work with Director of Public engagement (Partnerships) to support the research, establishment and management of paid media partnership relationships to support global moments.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    5 years proven media relations or PR experience.
    Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
    Experience in coordinating media leads from a number of different offices.
    Sound editorial skills.
    An understanding of audience segmentation/ how to target key audiences.

    External relationship management skills.

    Design, Monitoring & Evaluation (DME) Capability Advisor

    The position of Design, Monitoring & Evaluation (DME) Capability Advisor aims to optimize DME capability in World Vision International (WVI) and strengthen staff DME competencies in areas such as design, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning. The role includes: The development of a DME capability enhancement system (including policies, standards, and guidelines, processes, learning assets and learning pathways), the refinement of National Office NO DME capacity assessment and DME competencies, the provision of support to Regional Program Quality leads and Technical Service Organisation to plan and implement DME Capacity Building interventions and the creation new learning opportunities by engaging externally with other organisations/academia and managing knowledge in WVI.
    Key responsibilities

    Lead the design of a DME capability development system including (policies, standards, guidelines and processes etc) to benefit both, a) teams tasked to support development of Field Office (FO) ME capabilities (ROs, TSOs &SOs) and b) DME teams in FOs.
    Design a learning system including learning pathways, learning assets, and learning platforms assisting users during their learning journey.
    Assist the FOs to undertake regularly the DME capacity assessment and prepare a portfolio view as agreed with GFO.
    Lead the development of learning assets for F2F and on-line learning. Design and utilize the platforms (WVCentral and e-campus) to enable FOs/RO/SOs/TSOs to access the learning assets in form of asynchronous self, e-learning and social learning in DME. Develop staff competencies on data quality and integrity across all funding sources. Promote emerging good practices in DME capacity development within WV and communicate these across the DME community using newsletters etc.

    Coordinate and harmonize DME capacity building interventions of ROs/SOs/TSOs to enable a unified, just in time support for FOs, maximizing their contribution to DME Capacity Building objectives.

    Collaborate with RO and SO DME leaders to continuously assess DME/LEAP 3 capacity building needs among NOs and provide coordinated (RO/GC/SO) support to address identified capacity building needs.
    Influence WV entities to support RO plans for FO DME capacity development and deploy technical experts as needed.

    Catalyse innovation and learning for development of DME Capability in the organization.

    Explore practices of others on DME Capability development and share as appropriate WV’s experiences and learning.
    Lead and grow partnerships with academic and research institutions that help to enhance WV’s DME capacity globally.
    Promote innovation in DME capability development across WV entities.

    Regenerate the Programme Quality and Evidence Community of Practice, convene them regularly involving WV DME practitioners in sharing learning and promoting enabling continuous improvement:

    Coordinate learning and sharing for DME practitioners, identify promising DME practices and innovations for sharing in the organization.

    Knowledge, Skills and abilities

    The incumbent will bring to this role a combination of DME experience and expertise in planning and implementing capability development interventions that help build/enhance the required DME competencies, development of learning resources and utilization of platforms that enable blended learning to take place.
    Advanced/graduate degree in adult learning/training and or other relevant field.
    Advanced degree in statistics, econometrics or any other discipline related to DME measurements.
    Demonstrated expertise in development of user friendly tools and resources for DME and utilization of learning platforms for helping others learn.
    Intermediate qualifications in capacity building (including expertise in designing capacity building plans and adult learning programs).
    Advanced competencies in data analysis using appropriate software tools (e.g. SPSS, SAS,ABTAB).
    Advanced technical writing skills.

    Purpose of the position
    This position will advise Support Offices (SO) leadership, with an emphasis on SO Faith & Development (F&D) leads, guiding them regarding their respective office’s objectives to maintain WVI’s commitment to ‘live out our Christian faith and calling with boldness and humility.” The advisor will help equip SO leaders and staff to understand and articulate WV’s Mission, Vision and Core Values both internally and to externally, with the aim of strengthening WV’s brand, credibility and reputation; supporting partner collaboration; increasing revenue growth; and helping them to bear witness to the good news of the kingdom of God to our donors.
    Key responsibilities
    Provide technical guidance to SO Faith & Development (F&D) leads as they support SO leadership to realise Our Promise Strategic Imperative 1 (Living Out Our Christian Faith and Calling with Boldness and Humility) and as they share World Vision International’s faith related documents (Core documents, policies and guidelines) and advise SO leadership on their implementation. This may include direct engagement with SO CEO constituencies (leadership team, staff, Board, etc.) as needed.
    Activities would include:

    Promoting relevant F&D Resources.
    Advising SO leadership and staff to identify and address needs to understand, articulate and live out WV’s Christian faith and calling as appropriate to their context.
    Advising SO Teams to ensure faith considerations are integrated into all supported field programmes for child well-being.

    Engage with SO leadership on strategic F&D related issues:

    Listen and advise on opportunities to support F&D initiatives through Grants Acquisition & Management, fundraising channels and resources.

    F&D specific competencies:

    The Learning and Knowledge Management Officer supports the application of learning within Disaster Management (DM) to improve performance in humanitarian programmes. This is achieved through support to systems, structures and environments to capture, store and share knowledge, and apply learning to practice. Responsibilities of the role include: conducting learning processes and advocating for the incorporation of outcomes into WV’s humanitarian strategies, policies, and decisions; advising responses on and implementing knowledge and information management systems; leading analysis and development of humanitarian learning trend reports and info sheets; coordinating and continuously improving knowledge and learning products; coordinating and conducting collaboration spaces such as webinars and MS Teams.
    Key responsibilities

    Coordinate Global Centre supported DM learning processes for Cat III and sustained humanitarian responses, and advise on other thematic or programme approach learning processes as requested.
    Advise Cat III and sustained humanitarian responses on and implement knowledge management and information management systems immediately after declaration and/or as requested.
    Advise on the development and continuous improvement of global DM knowledge, information and learning products, platforms and standards.
    Lead analysis for and development of learning trend products and support dissemination.
    Coordinate select knowledge sharing events and platforms for the DM Network, including webinars, events, and Centre of Competence (CoC) initiatives (particularly for the Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) CoC).
