    Job Description:
    *This role can be based in any of World Vision’s 27 countries of operation in Africa. 
    PURPOSE OF POSITION
    Working across World Vision’s East, West and Southern Africa Regions, and with teams in 27 countries across the continent, the role leads Africa communications content strategy to delivery high quality content for communications, advocacy, marketing and global and local fundraising requirements. The Senior Manager is the central point of contact for communications content requests of all Africa National/Country Offices and humanitarian emergency responses. The incumbent will develop and project plan the production and delivery of SuperBriefs and content requests, ensuring appropriate technical capacity is available in National Offices to produce international standard high quality and on time content for Support Office marketing, WVI partnership, regional and local requirements. The Senior Manager will provide high level editorial and production oversight and quality control of all Africa content. The incumbent will provide some matrix management leadership to selected National Offices in Africa and support the Regional Communications & Public Engagement Directors with internal, executive and staff engagement communications across the region.
    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Provide Africa communications content leadership, lead an integrated approach with Support Offices and National Offices in the planning and development of content SuperBriefs and other content requests, including international visits, and project manage the production of these across Africa National Offices. Support Offices and the Partnership receive on-time, international standard high-quality, communications content for marketing, supporter engagement, and campaigns.
    All content requests, including SuperBrief requests are multi-media productions that provide multi-channel, multi-format, multi-audience communications collateral that the partnership, National Offices, Regional Offices, and Support Offices deploy for greater public and supporter engagement and marketing. All international visits for either content creation, media, and celebrity/VIP engagement, are managed in alignment with partnership standards and ensure communications resources developed are in line with Africa content standards for use by the partnership as appropriate.

    Lead National Office’s strategy to increase technical capacity to produce international quality content for Support Office marketing communications and resource development. National Office communications teams benefit from having the appropriate technical capacity and resources to produce SuperBriefs and high-quality content requests. By producing fewer number, but higher quality, requests for Support Offices, National Office communications teams are able to pivot to better support national internal and external communications in support of their national strategies.

    Matrix management of selected National Offices (development, non-fragile state contexts). National Office communications managers are provided technical leadership and support to transition their departments into high-performing teams focused more sharply on communications that lead to influence, income and impact for their National Office.

    15%

    Provide high level editorial and production oversight and quality control to all Africa SuperBrief content for Support Office marketing and partnership requests. SuperBrief and other content packages are delivered to Support Offices, and the partnership, ready for use – free from editorial, production, brand, child protection errors.

    5%

    Lead regional-level internal and staff engagement communications. Support Regional Communications & Public Engagement Directors on executive communications. Working with the Regional Director, EARO, SARO and WARO regional staff, operate in a more collaborative, communicative, virtual environment that encourages and enables greater engagement.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    A university degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or other related field
    Excellent leadership, and project management skills in the communications, production, creative industries
    A demonstrable track record of working and managing cross-cultural stakeholders and forging strong partnerships
    Excellent technical communications skills in one or more of the following areas; editorial, production, design, journalism

    Cloud Systems Administrator (cloud admin) is responsible for working in a mixed Windows and Linux software environment. The responsibility of the individual is to manage the instances of the cloud infrastructure services and the multiple cloud servers. The scope of the cloud admin entail transitioning locally hosted infrastructure to the cloud, configure cloud environments to meet your WVK’s needs, and architect systems for data management. The incumbent is tasked in designing, implementing and daily operations support and maintenance of cloud services and cloud-based information systems. s/he is the primary focal point in the effective operation of messaging, collaboration, enterprise and ministry IT solutions for the NO.     To provide technical support in Climate change mitigation and adaptation through coordination and monitoring of IMARA Program activities within the program sites in parts of the Counties of Elgeyo Marakwet, Turkana and West Pokot geared towards inspiring a sustainable natural resource management as part of the Kenya ASAL policy and Ending drought emergencies (EDE) framework aimed to support increased resilience of vulnerable communities in the ASAL Counties of Kenya.
    Major Responsibilities

    Effective Technical Program design, Planning and Implementation (40%)
    Provide technical skills in Climate change mitigation and adaptation practices across communities and partners in targeted areas
    Collaborate with the Senior Program Manager, MEAL Coordinator and the technical teams at the National Office to effectively coordinate and conduct carbon project feasibility study in the three counties including but not limited to carrying out all measurements – baselines, other assessments, designs, monitoring and evaluations in accordance with Consortium guidelines & donor requirements and develop reports on the same.
    Conduct training needs assessment, develop capacity building plans and train the suitable partners, selected farmer groups and Community owned resource persons /TOTs on the various recommended areas of focus (Community Based Natural Resource management, Dry land forestry, Climate change mitigation and adaptation, Sustainable energy options, soil and water conservation, Disaster Risk management, Advocacy and policy influence etc).
    Support implementation of water access and protection for enhanced water supply in collaboration with relevant line ministries
    Monitor and support the timely and appropriate utilization of budgeted resources for all program interventions as well as ensure effective and timely response plans.
    Facilitate good collaboration between farmer organizations and government representatives to ensure local ownership and sustainability of the interventions
    Facilitate formation and or strengthening of farmer organizations to offer services to their members
    Ensure adherence to IMARA Carbon Program methodology and the VERRA standard procedures
    Facilitate implementation of NRM Sustainable Land use systems, Sustainable and renewable energy options and community- driven impact monitoring
    Support program beneficiaries to plan and implement sustainable land management practices and energy options for climate change mitigation and adaptation
    Actively participate in the collection and collation of views from stakeholders for the development of program plans and budgets
    Integrate Gender and Youth in program activities through the implementation strategies.

    Minimum of 5 years’ experience in INGO implementing environment and carbon related programming preferably in ASAL areas with bias towards Climate change adaptation and mitigation programs, Carbon monitoring & integrating livelihoods strengthening.
    Good understanding of carbon standards and quantification models.

    Purpose of Position
    To provide strategic and operational leadership to World Vision’s Disaster Management programming in Kenya, which is 70% Arid & Semi Arad Lands (ASAL). The Disaster Management Director is expected to ensure quality of WV humanitarian engagement including setting up appropriate strategies, structures, staffing and resources for Disaster Risk Reduction, emergency preparedness, response, rehabilitation, recovery and resilience in line with National Office priorities, WV Disaster Management Standards, Emergency Management Systems and internationally recognized humanitarian requirements. The position is responsible for providing strategic humanitarian and disaster management leadership; strengthening WV Kenya’s humanitarian operations and influence, collaboration and partnerships, and more strategic positioning in the face of (i) increasing fragility & insecurity; (ii) on-going food insecurity & climate change induced shocks; and (iii) the need for more strategic pre-positioning for increased fragile context funding opportunities in-country and with external donors.
    Major Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership, Management, Engagement & Influence (30%)

    Provide strategic humanitarian, emergency & fragile context programming leadership to WVK
    Position World Visions’ Disaster Management (DM) as a competent the best and preferred humanitarian agency among stakeholders.
    Commit to deliver on WV humanitarian goals in line with the Strategy “Our Promise”
    Support and advise the National Director and the senior leadership on Disaster Management policies, processes and tools as they relate to WV Kenya’s Category I, II & III emergencies.
    Lead the establishment and functioning of disaster preparedness strategy. including developing preparedness action plans, updating Disaster Management scorecard, ensuring effective functioning of an Integrated Disaster Management Team/Committee, including its capacity development.

    Technical Leadership & Capacity Building (20%)

    Ensure WV has the knowledge, skills, resources, tools and capacity to maximize DRR, preparedness, response and recovery at a community level.
    Lead the implementation of the disaster management operations in line with National Office Strategy, regional DM priorities and global strategy, standards, and Our Promise
    Grow World Vision Kenya’s capacity to respond to Category 1, II & III emergencies.
    Ensure that national emergency response and disaster mitigation capacity, and a talent pool of on-site Category II and III project managers are available for immediate response.
    Collaborate with other departments and EARO to make timely recommendations regarding declaration and undeclaration of emergency responses.
    Provide management advice and technical support to DM staff and DM Committees (on site if necessary) in the design, documentation, approval, implementation, management, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of DM projects according to partnership and donor standards.
    Lead, if necessary on-site, Cat II and III emergency responses

    Quality Assurance, Effectiveness & Impact (20%)

    Provide leadership, oversight & insight to category I, II or III emergencies in line with approved standards to ensure positive impact on child well being
    Champion stewardship of resources in disaster responses
    In consultation with the Regional Disaster Management Director, ensure effective monitoring and evaluation, including quality assurance for all WVK humanitarian interventions in line with WV Disaster Management Standards and Emergency Management System and provide appropriate support as needed
    Ensure the highest standards of quality and accountability through compliance with World Vision policies and standards and international standards for emergency response, disaster mitigation, rehabilitation and development;
    Ensure all the projects proposals, reports, integrated audits, and response evaluations are reviewed at a proper level within the office and appropriate actions are implemented, to ensure impact, accountability, and compliance;

    Develop strong collaborative internal and external relationships as well as enhance resource mobilisation and advocacy for disaster management (15%)

    Grow and diversify WVK’s humanitarian resource portfolio
    Grow WVK’s local resource mobilization portfolio for disaster management
    Enhance WVK’s visibility and influence in the INGO humanitarian sector and with donors such as US Govt’s BHA, EU and others in-country and more strategically preposition the NO as a key player in the humanitarian field.

    Ensure effective stewardship and accountability of WVK’s DM resources, finances and people, consistent with performance standards established by the NO.

    Have overall responsibility for assessment of DM risks and the development of DM risk management planning, business continuity planning, elections response planning etc to mitigate risks to NO operations, staff, assets and programmes, during crises

    In collaboration with M&E., ensure that the Grant Recipient(s) develops results, indicators and targets as well as an annual work plan, which reflect the objectives of the grants program and are aligned to the specific donor requirements.
    Ensure proper operational opening and closing of the assigned grants as well as monitoring and evaluation of programmatic progress. Disseminate project follow- up reports to guide timely action.

    Coordinate Project Managers and Finance managers to prepare narrative program reports in accordance with donor designated formats as required.     Submit timely accurate and quality reports that meet donor requirements, coordinating closely with Program managers and coordinators.

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:
    The National Director (ND) will strategically lead, develop and direct the implementation of World Vision Kenya’s FY21 to 25 Strategy, in alignment with the Government of Kenya priorities and Our Promise. In performing this role, the ND will be an effective leader locally, an effective member of the broader WVI Partnership, and will model the organization’s principles of Twin Citizenship to ensure high ministry quality and overall organizational effectiveness. The ND as a leader will contribute to partnership life and unity, by acting as both a local and global representative of the organization. The ND will ensure the country’s operations and operating models maintain the Partnership’s focus on Child Well Being (CWB) Outcomes and Aspirations as they apply in the Kenyan specific country context, maximizing the impact in the field while maintaining efficiency as wise stewards of entrusted resources.
    The ND will lead national resource development, leading local fund raising and ensuring growth of local resources through effective partnerships with County Governments, the private sector in Kenya, individual Kenyans, the Church and the WVK Alumni network, amongst other local partners. The ND will ensure the effective resourcing of the flagship locally funded Area Program, Salgaa, and also have in place an effective growth plan for more locally funded APs.     Work Environment/Travel:

    Domestic Travel: 20% Regular internal travel to project areas is required.

    On call: 10% In emergency and disaster situations, the position will be required to be on-call.

    Purpose of Position
    Provide staffing services ensuring that World Vision Kenya recruits the right people in the right place at the right time. The position holder will work to meet the office’s diverse staffing needs by providing proactive sourcing; accountable, transparent, and focused recruitment processes as well as expert support to hiring managers.
    Major Responsibilities
    Recruitment & Selection (40%)

    Provide staffing services to the National Office ensuring that World Vision recruits the right people in the right place at the right time.
    Ensure achievement of World Vision’s diverse staffing needs by providing proactive sourcing; accountable, transparent, and focused recruitment processes; and expert support to hiring managers
    Provide technical guidance to the hiring managers in the development of job descriptions and ensure that proposed jobs are subjected to hay evaluation and are aligned to the approved WVK structures.
    Coordinate and guide the selection process including short listing and interviewing candidates
    Conduct candidates screening in accordance to the WVK Polices
    negotiate pay package for successful candidates and extend employment offers to successful candidates
    Provide timely updates to the Hiring managers and P & C teams to ensure smooth staff orientation and induction.
    Ensure timely management of recruitment related conflicts and disputes
    Provide timely reports i.e. recruitment plans, interview reports and recruitment status reports.

    Employee Contract Management (30%)

    Administer employment contracts, ensuring that appointments, contract renewals, contract extensions and separations are effected timely as per policy.
    Coordinate changes in employee movement including acting appointments, promotions transfers, deployments, special appointments, to ensure timely appointments and advise payroll accordingly.
    Track respective Grants Cycle and ensure timely staff contracts renewals and extensions and non-renewals are effected.
    Ensure compliance of Contract management process with employment legislation to avoid litigation.
    Process staff separations owing to resignations, terminations, retirements, end of contracts, death among others to ensure timely update of such changes on staff records, People & Culture Information System and payroll processes and work with hiring managers to ensure timely replacements of such separated staff who need to be replaced.
    Ensure completeness and correctness of staff data on People & Culture Information Systems and conduct periodic reviews to ensure that errors are maintained at 0%
    Provide accurate and timely contracts management status reports.

    Work Force planning & Grants Acquisition (20%)

    Collaborate with Directors to ensure timely development and implementation of Work Force Plans (WFP)
    Provide recruitment expertise during the Proposal development/ grant acquisition process to ensure that proposed grants have the right structures, staffing levels and Job Descriptions that meet the required standards.
    Identify and analyze staffing needs from the WFP and the Grants Acquisition process and collaborate with line managers for strategic prepositioning of staffing capacity.
    Develop and ensure updated pool of qualified candidates Contextualization and implementation of Diversity plan.

    Collaboration & Networks (5%)

    Actively participate in roll out of P & C initiatives
    Participate in committees and taskforces, as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    University degree in Human Resource Management or related field
    A professional diploma in Human Resources Management is required if the first degree is not in HRM
    Licensed Practicing Member of the IHRM or equivalent recognized Professional body.
    A minimum of four years’ experience in human resources in the Humanitarian Sector in a similar role
    Extensive experienced in recruiting, interviewing and conducting job evaluations.

    Purpose of Position
    Participate in the full scope of strategic communication tasks that provides the organization with the means to increase its visibility and strengthen brand awareness through timely and effective tailored communications to inform, educate and inspire influence, income and impact for child well-being. These include but not limited to the development and roll out of strategic communications, marketing, media engagement, event coverage and social media engagement in the broad agenda for both local and global stakeholders.
    Major Responsibilities

    Communication and External Engagement – Media, Marketing and Public Engagement (40%)

    Provide full range support of journalistic, public relations, and marketing techniques, platforms, and products, to inform, increase awareness, and shape the organization’s brand image.
    Lead in media planning, engagements and timely response to media inquiries and perform media outreach to achieve brand placement in publications and other mass media platforms.
    Develop, write, edit and produce a broad range of marketing and communications materials such as storytelling, social media, speeches, briefings, articles, and others using expertise and experience to identify the right channels and styles for specific audiences.
    Contribute messaging that is appropriate for the target media
    Develop and maintain working relationships with journalists in multiple types of media outlets and maximize opportunities for the organization to be featured in various types of media outputs and ensure effective media relations.
    Proactively pitch ideas for new content and content updates to the Communications & Marketing Manager and contribute to the maintenance of planning of a content calendar.

    Planning and Capacity Building (20%)

    As media focal point, coach others to create and deliver effective messages as thought leaders to represent World Vision activities to the media, discussing both current events and strategic issues of improved and sustained well-being of vulnerable children in Kenya
    Under the guidance of the Communications & Marketing Manager, train and position approved media spokespersons to respond to media inquiries and achieve positive coverage for World Vision Kenya
    Under the guidance of Communications & Marketing Manager provide advice and training to others where needed on communications activity – eg advice on social media, media interviews or other related skills.
    Support in developing strategic solutions to emerging communications challenges.

    Learning, Documentation and Quality Assurance (10%)

    Document success stories/case studies and best practices, and to be shared during learning events.
    Review project publications and external marketing engagement materials for alignment to WVI quality and brand.
    Create relationships and connections utilizing various channels for information sharing, learning, influence to help shape and advance the communications agenda

    Others (5%)

    Participate in Trans teams and support other initiatives by partners in the spirit of integration

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related discipline.
    A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public information, external communications, journalism, international relations,
    A minimum of three years of experience in leading social media campaigns and analytics with understanding of the best practices of main social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc writing for the web and day-to-day running of social media accounts (with sensitivity and an understanding of different audiences and subject matter)
    Experience working in a communications office or for a media outlet in print, radio or television is desirable.
    Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience in strong editorial skills for traditional media & digital publication and distribution
    Strong communicator who works well independently and with the team
    Ability to think strategically and identify ways to improve communication efforts
    Understanding of communications, public relations and marketing best practices
    Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator is an asset
