    Role Overview

    Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Regional Lead will be a key member of the Global Ventures team and will be responsible for:

    Ecosystem Development & Management

    Ecosystem Mapping: You will build an ecosystem map of competitors and potential partners operating in the entrepreneur support and impact investment space and establish thought leadership and spread insights throughout each partner ecosystem via reports, heatmaps, blog posts, social media, emails, and videos.
    Network and Community Management: You will work with relevant team members to build up, engage and manage an already extensive network of alumni, investors, customers, and industry experts to support entrepreneurs and emerging companies working to solve problems.
    Partnership Development & fundraising: You will, along with your team, and in collaboration with the Parterships Team, be responsible for securing the necessary resources to execute on your strategy for sub-Saharan Africa practice by building relationships with private foundations, corporations, investment funds and other sources of revenue. This includes the opportunity to design new partnerships and potentially new investment vehicles for our ventures in the region and attending fundraising activities such as sponsored or promotional events.

    Regional Strategy & Communications

    Regional strategy: You will support the development and execution of an annual and multi-year strategy based on regional trends and identified market gaps.
    Communications and brand development You will support the development and management of Village Capital’s brand as a leader in ecosystem building space. You will work with the Communications team to create a communications strategy to highlight the success of VilCap’s work in the region. You will be responsible for guiding thought leadership, such as blog posts and sector research, speaking at conferences, and promoting our work on social media.

    Operations

    Team Development and Management: You will manage and continue to build a team that will lead behind-the-scenes infrastructure building and detail-oriented work that goes into recruiting entrepreneurs, project management, prospective partner identification, research, and relationship management.
    Budget Management: Working with the Finance and Operations teams as well as your Partnerships liaison, you will develop and oversee budgets for all programs in your assigned region.

    Program Development & Management

    Program Design & Implementation: You will have ownership of designing and executing high-quality entrepreneur support programming to maximize value to entrepreneurs, investors, and partners. You will commit to the behind-the-scenes infrastructure building and detail-oriented work that goes into program planning, problem statement development, strategy development, communication management, deliverable management and logistics, sourcing and recruitment of entrepreneurs and mentors, cohort selection and facilitation of workshops. You will work closely with other teams across the organization to customize curriculum as needed for different program structures This also includes a continuous examination of power dynamics across programs and initiatives, improving equitable access for entrepreneurs.
    Sourcing and Due Diligence: You will stay apprised of emerging industry and technology trends as well as trends related to entrepreneurship. This will include identifying and recruiting high-potential companies to participate in geographically and sector-specific business development and investment programs, conducting market research and analysis and conducting initial screening and due diligence on companies, and providing investment recommendations to Village Capital and our partners.
    Building Systems and Structures: You will bring a sense of structure and organization to create workflows, work with matrixed teams, and manage processes to ensure quality outputs and strong outcomes.
    Reporting: You will work across teams to compile information and write reports to be presented to relevant internal and external stakeholders.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience;
    5 to 7 years of full-time working experience with accelerators, ecosystem building, startups, entrepreneurship, impact investing, venture capital, economic development, financial services, corporate social responsibility, or a combination of related experience and skill-sets;
    Exposure to, or experience in , projects or workstreams in the climate and sustainability space would be a plus
    Minimum 4 years of experience managing a team or function for a similar-sized organization (or larger)
    Prior experience with a coalition and/or network building, sales, fundraising or partnership development is a plus.
    Exceptional project and program management skills; track record of delivering projects on time and on budget; experience getting results from freelancers and third-party service providers
    Strong oral and written communication skills (English);

    About the Role
    Reporting to the Director of Technology solutions but with constant liaison with the Chief Programs Officer and other field teams, the holder of this role will be a multi-talented individual with strong background in scoping and roll out of digital solutions for last mile users, customer journey, Human Centered Design, product pipelines for user-level impact, excellent organizational, communication and teamwork skills. He/She will work with external providers of potential, scalable solutions that can be integrated to our poverty graduation program, scoping the market and identifying the best fit solutions for adoption to create value, efficiency, scale and impact. Post-adoption, they will work on the goals, strategy, and delivery defining the way our program participants interact with digital solutions to achieve success of their small businesses during and beyond the program period. The position will be based in Kitale, Kenya or Soroti, Uganda or Kigali, Rwanda, depending on the location of the successful candidate.
    Key Roles and Responsibilities
    The role holder will be responsible for driving product strategies and vision to build best in class digital solutions for last mile microentrepreneurs in Sub Saharan Africa

    Evaluate, analyse, and understand the needs of the users through a variety of data sources
    Market research, validation, and whitespace analysis to identify opportunities for adopting new and scaling existing digital solutions
    Engage with external providers to identify the best-fit solutions in the market and facilitate discussions towards provider-partner relations.
    Oversee and manage lead requirements discovery, solution design, user journey, testing and adoption of digital solutions.

    Product Design 40%

    Set a holistic innovation strategy for assigned products in collaboration with TAs, CDs, MEL, and field teams, identifying new growth areas and championing current products to completion.
    Drive technical delivery on VE Graduation products with a sense of urgency and knowledge of the industry to enable timely product design and rollout using HCD,  Lean Impact, and other relevant processes for testing new products.

    Role Overview
    Reporting to Sr. Manager, Finance, the Grants Manager will be a key member of the Finance team and will have the following responsibilities:

    Grant Financial Recordkeeping and Management: You will be working with all relevant stakeholders to ensure grant financial documentation and management support and comply with Village Capital’s policies and procedures and Grantor agreements, as well as providing wider finance-related support as needed. These will include, but will not be limited to:

    Serving as the primary point of contact for Village Capital team members as they navigate the grants administration processes
    Harvesting relevant data from  newly-signed agreements and contracts, maintaining and updating these records, and preparing all relevant summary documentation and information for Program Leads’ use in ensuring proactive financial stewardship of grant funds
    Owning all finance source-of-record databases and schedules, including but not limited to budgets, grant restrictions, license and service schedules, revenue recognition, and accounts receivable, to ensure up-to-date information that offers decision support, the ability to automate processes, and derive insights
    Leading semi-annual internal grant audits by coordinating between relevant stakeholders, preparing and sharing materials, and defining agendas. Ensure compliance by participating in the internal grant audits and check-ins with all Program Leads to confirm source-of-record database and schedule information, and coordinate with Program Leads in planning for milestones- and activity-based revenue recognition and expense administration management.

    Ensuring timely and accurate external delivery of reports that are needed for grant proposals and grant progress and financial reports by managing a reporting calendar and communicating regularly with Program Leads
    Coordinating with relevant stakeholders on upcoming Grantor progress and financial reporting requirements
    Preparing financial reporting aligned with Grantor reporting requirements, utilizing actual accounting and forecasted financial data in conjunction with Program Leads to provide the necessary information to Grantors.
    Updating budget variance analyses on a monthly basis in VilCap and Grantor formats

    Accounts Payable Internal Review: As needed, you will assist the Head of Finance and third-party controller and bookkeeping vendors in reviewing accounts payable submissions to ensure that expenses are aligned with grant and organizational budgets, accounting and bookkeeping policy and procedures, and VilCap documentation standards and best practices. This will include, but will not be limited to:

    Administering the accounts payable platform and its integration with the accounting software and company credit cards, including quality control assurance of data and document transfer; management of new/terminated platform users; and management of the platform chart of accounts, employee company credit card, vendor, and dimensional data input
    Maintaining an up-to-date organization-wide training deck for the accounts payable platform.
    First reviewer of all transactions and documentation submitted via the Accounts Payable platform to ensure accuracy against chart of accounts and other accounting codes, program budgets, and vendor agreements
    Assistance with ensuring accurate and complete vendor documentation in all of the finance team systems, including but not limited to consulting agreements, vendor invoices, payment details, and Forms W-9/8BEN(E)
    Ensuring timely submission of expenses by reviewing unsubmitted credit card transactions and unapproved transactions in the systems; facilitating monthly team reminders; and following up with individuals, not in compliance with accounting policies and procedures

    Support VilCap Financial Reporting: You will be supporting the overall financial health and stewardship of VilCap. This support will include but is not limited to working closely with the Head of Finance and Sr. Manager, Finance, to ensure timely and accurate internal analysis of budgets, cash management data, multi-year projections, financial reports, and financial trends. 

     Qualifications

    About the Job:
    Village Enterprise is seeking a candidate whis innovative, solution oriented and creative tsupport the Innovations Team activities and Village Enterprise mission on ending extreme poverty.
    The position holder involvement areas include; developing creative and innovative ideas around our Graduation Program; help in development of pilots by applying the key stages of Human Centered Design (Ideation, Piloting and Implementation); capacity training for Business Mentors and Field Coordinators and research and development of tools and strategies that ensure the organizations meets its goals.
    Job Description:

    Core Program Support Responsibilities: 60%

    Participate in designing, adaptation; coordinate implementation, and appraise pilot projects by employing human centered design thinking approaches.
    Work with the field team tcoordinate and periodically develop materials, plan and execute Business Mentor workshops.
    Coordinate with the help of the field team tguide Bi-weekly meetings within the offices of mandate, by introducing creative materials and making them more effective.
    Support new projects, ongoing projects and calendar activities like the Innovations Summit; on theme selection, planning and overall execution.
    Participate in developing materials, inviting external resource persons that would be used ttransfer knowledge and bridge capacities of Business Mentors and Field coordinators.
    Participate in gathering of information and indentifying sustainable partnerships on Financial Inclusion, Value Chain Development, Market Intelligence and linkages.
    Write reports and develop presentations on ongoing projects, keep the whole team informed and update the documents on the various storage platforms like Google drive, and Box e.t.c.
    Occasionally contribute tproposal development by keeping track of funding opportunities for the innovations teamwork and pass such opportunities tdirect supervisor.
    Assist in the development, assessment of standard operating tools like the Training Manual, Mentoring Guides and any other that may be introduced.
    Participate in the development of training support materials like picture codes, charts and any other visual or audiaids.
    Any other innovations work or program support work that may be assigned tyou.
    Innovations and Cross-functionality Responsibilities: 40%
    Be an ardent ambassador and advocate on Innovations Teams work internally and externally if and when given the opportunity.
    Ensure synchronization of activities between the ACDs/RMs work plans and the Innovations teams work by communicating work plans and planned activities.
    Communication and coordination of work
    Weekly check-ins with supervisor (Plan and structure effective One-on-one’s)
    Provide information on work plan on Google Work Plan sheet on a weekly basis.
    Participate and contribute effectively during the weekly Innovations Team meetings
    Prompt response temail communications/ report deadlines and any follow-ups as may be requested
