    Overall Job Purpose
    This is an early career postdoctoral research scientist position and the incumbent’s areas of research will entail Immunometabolism, metabolic dysfunction, immunology work which involves direct visualisation of the mucosal tissue barriers and host target or effector cells.
    Key Responsibilities:

    Designing and conducting experiments to study the interactions between metabolism and immunity.
    Developing and implementing methods for high-throughput metabolic profiling.
    Molecular biology techniques such as amplification, sequencing and analysing DNA or rRNA
    Immunofluorescence staining and microscopy of the tissue sections and flow cytometry
    Performance of ex vivo explant experiments using human tissues
    Maintaining accurate and detailed laboratory records and notebooks.
    Assisting with the training and supervision of junior researchers, students, and technicians.
    Collaborating with other members of the research team on projects and publications.
    Staying up to date with the latest advancements in the field and incorporating new techniques into the laboratory’s research program.
    Any other responsibilities that may arise from time to time

    Required Academic Qualifications

    PhD degree in immunology, molecular biology or related fields
    Proven track record in immunology, metabolomics and/or molecular biology laboratory research
    At least three publications in peer-reviewed journals

    Competencies

    High level of English language competence appropriate for scientific journal article submissions
    Self-directed, highly motivated, adaptable and capable of adhering to important milestones

    Job description

    Administer screening and enrollment questionnaire to patients in target wards/units
    Conduct screening for C. auris colonization in target wards/units
    Maintain a register of all samples collected and ensure results are received and updated on the appropriate patient records
    Ensure data is collected accurately and resolve any discrepancies with the data team
    Train and mentor clinical, auxiliary, housekeeping and environmental services (public health) staff in infection prevention and control of antifungal resistant pathogens
    Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports

    Job specifications

    Applicant must have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent with a pass in English
    They must have a Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse or a Degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent
    Be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya and have a valid practice license
    He or she must have at least two (2) years working experience post qualification
    Experience in donor-funded projects or clinical research
    Be a team player with excellent communication skills

    Terms of appointment
    The positions are distributed in the three (3) project sites. This a position whose tenure is one (1) year contract renewable based on performance and by mutual consent.

    The Position
    Reporting to the Principal Investigator, or his delegated authority appointee, the OpenMRS/ReactJS Developer shall be responsible for ensuring the alignment of web design and user experience requirements, optimizing web pages for maximum efficiency and maintaining consistency across all pages. He/she will be required to work other team members including Backend Developers, UX Designers, and Business analysts to ensure project requirements are met consistently. The developer shall also ensure that the different software developed conforms to country software development standards by conducting rigorous diagnosis, tests, code debugging, and technical documentation through reference manuals. The developer must be able to demonstrate their skills and show proof of their OpenMRS work.
    Responsibilities

    Work with Senior OpenMRS Developer and other developers to design software solutions by studying information needs; systems flow, data usage, and work processes while adhering to the software development lifecycle
    Work to ensure that the structure and design of web pages, ensuring user experience determines design choices
    Develop features to enhance the user experience, with the right balance between functional and aesthetic design.
    Optimize web pages for maximum speed and scalability 
    Develop workflows from data collection forms, clinical dashboards with decision support summaries, monitoring and clinical reports
    Support the piloting, rollout and maintenance of HIS systems in public health facilities.
    Work with HIS business analysts and developers to investigate, analyse and make recommendations to management regarding technology improvements, upgrades and modifications
    Work with HIS business analysts to analyse user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
    Work with Senior OpenMRS developer to prepare reference materials for end and technical users by writing operating instructions, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
    Undertake such other tasks within the scope of the role as directed by leadership from time to time.

    Required Academic Qualifications

    A bachelor’s degree in either; Computer Science, Software Engineering, Informatics, or Information Computer Technology

    Experience

    A minimum of one (1) year of experience using Java, Spring, Hibernate, ReactJs, TypeScript as a software developer
    Experience with deployment of OpenMRS and development of OpenMRS Modules
    Ability to speak to high level leadership who may need technical descriptions and developments translated to ease understanding and acceptance
    Advanced experience in developing data-driven applications utilizing significant relational database engines as part of the overall application architecture (experience with any or all of the following highly desirable: PostgreSQL, MySQL)
    Experience in managing online platforms holding large numbers of users will be added advantage

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    Working experience using Java, Spring, Hibernate, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and ReactJS, Git, Restful web services, Agile methodology, Maven,
    Advanced knowledge and demonstrable skill with popular open source programming languages (must include JavaScript)
    Proficiency developing and troubleshooting complex software systems that run in mixed-environments including Linux, Unix and/or Windows on desktop, server, tablet, and mobile systems
    Experience with both back-end and front-end development will be an added advantag

    Job Specific Responsibilities

    Educate study participants about the study and study requirements.

    Obtain accurate baseline demographic and locator information from study participants.
    Perform protocol specific activities.
    Assist in the development of clinic SOPs and other related documents
    Take samples/phlebotomy and deliver to the laboratory in a timely manner
    Perform adherence counseling for patients with prostate cancer
    Actively enroll study patients through visiting cancer clinics in Nairobi County
    File accurately all forms, consent forms, study questionnaires and any other electronic records/documents used for collecting data for the study.
    Follow up on patients to attend scheduled review clinics
    Perform any other duties as assigned by the PI

    Job Qualifications

    He/she must be a holder of a Diploma in Kenya Community Registered Nurse
    He/she must have at least five (5) years working experience in a hospital set up
    He/she must have experience in cancer research and clinical trials studies
    Working experience in community studies is an added advantage
    At least working knowledge of RedCap and any other METADATA capture programs is an added advantage
    He/she must have experience on safe phlebotomy and transport of blood samples for lab analysis
