    Responsibilities
    Under the overall guidance of the Chief of the Regional Office, the incumbent carries out the following duties and responsibilities: Contributes to the development, implements and evaluates assigned programmes/projects, etc.; monitors and analyses programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions. Under the guidance and supervision of the Chief of the Regional Office, supports Member States in the region in the development and implementation of their national disaster risk reduction plans, through risk assessments, development of disaster loss data bases and disaster risk profiles. Serves as a focal point for disaster risk knowledge and analysis in the region and contributes a regional perspective and lessons learned to a global UNISDR community of practise on disaster risk knowledge and analysis. Collaborates closely with UNISDR colleagues responsible for global risk analysis, risk modelling, and reporting and disaster loss databases in the Sendai Monitoring Branch in UNISDR headquarters.
    Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. Initiates and coordinates outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. Upon delegation from the Chief of the Regional Office, participates in regional or national meetings on the implementation of the Sendai Framework in the region, provides programmatic/substantive expertise, and holds programmatic/substantive and organizational discussions with representatives of other institutions. Drafts written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. presenting the analysis of the disaster risk in the countries in the region and progress and lessons learned in reducing disaster risk.
    Identifies capacity development needs in the region and provides, under the overall guidance of the Chief of the Regional Office, substantive input to the Chief of Global Education and Training Institute (GETI) to effectively support the capacity development of member states and key partners in the region in the areas of risk assessment and analysis, risk profiles and disaster loss databases.
    Contributes at his/her level to programmatic/administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the Regional office, including preparation of work plans and budgets, and monitoring and reporting on budget/programme performance in the context of results-based management. Ensures that the outputs produced meet high-quality standards; that reports are clear, objective and based on comprehensive data; and that they comply with relevant organizational mandates.
    Carries out other duties as assigned by the Chief of the Regional Office.

    Responsibilities
    Under the overall guidance of the Special Envoy and within limits of delegated authority, the Director will perform the following duties: Political Analysis and Advice:• Identify, analyze and monitor political developments and emerging issues related to the mandates of the Special Envoy and the Office. • Assess their implications and make recommendations to the Mission leadership on possible strategies, policies and other measures to advance mandated objectives, including plans of action for immediate and long range solutions to political problems.• Devise a political strategy in support of the implementation of the Mission’s mandate.     Work Experience
    Over 15 years of progressively responsible experience in political or diplomatic work at national level, international or multilateral organizations is required. Extensive experience in political outreach, analysis, reporting and negotiation in a national or an international setting is required. Experience in leading or representing an Office, Department or Organization at senior level is required. Experience of managing a large and multidisciplinary team or office is required. Experience of working in a conflict or post-conflict setting at, national level or in international NGOs, regional or international organizations, or bilateral international assistance programmes is desirable. Experience of the political and security context of the Great Lakes region in a substantive capacity in political affairs, diplomacy or a related field is desirable. Experience in leading complex political initiatives and processes, as well as effective contribution to mediation, political negotiations or dialogue processes is desirable. Effective contribution and field experience in implementing peace agreements is an advantage.
    Languages
    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English or French is required. Knowledge of the other language is an advantage.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Under the direct supervision of the Senior Regional ICT Officer the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks
    Monitor and maintain the LAN, Network servers, Routers, printer, LAN points and switches, patch panels, access points to prevent faults occurring.
    Provide technical user support services and training in UNHCR applications, including email upgrade and software when instructed.
    Ensure that information problem recovery is done as quickly as possible by making regular system back-ups.
    Maintain the inventory of ICT equipment and keep track of movements of ICT equipment.
    Installing and commissioning VSAT, Radio and/or Field LAN and messaging systems.
    Assist in the maintenance of accurate records of users and usage of the Network.
    Provide technical support to UNHCR’s implementing partners.
    Carry out computer and network hardware maintenance.

    Organizational Setting and Reporting

    Responsibilities
    Working with the Chair and Coordinator of Common Services Management Team (CSMT) in drafting the annual workplan of the CSMT and supporting implementation of the Common Services (CS) annual work plan as required.
    Follow up with service providers and budget section in coordinating rate card preparation and performance reports.
    Provide secretariat services for Common Services Board (CSB) and CSMT meetings, organize and attend CS working groups and sub committees meetings and interact with CSMT members as appropriate. Follow-up with all concerned for timely actions.
    Coordinate staffing totals from UN System offices in Kenya and information on Service Level Agreement (SLAs) requested for preparation of billing of Common Services.
    Prepare inventory of existing information on Common Services.
    Provide inputs for a wide range of common services documents, briefings and correspondence. Maintain an organized document repository of all related common services documents, including databases of Common Services clients and related agreements.
    Support the Common Services Governance Framework (CSGF) in Nairobi. Organise regular coordination meetings with UN System offices present in Kenya.
