Coordinate and network at a senior level with county departments both nutrition specific and sensitive authorities and other NGOs. Lead on all health and nutrition elements of the project and reports, providing capacity building for the county staff. Promote best practice in the health and Nutrition programmes and contribute to the overall success of the NAWIRI project. Oversee the Implementation of Health, Nutrition activities in Turkana/Samburu County.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor degree in Health sciences (Nutrition, Nursing preferred).
    At least 5 years demonstrated experience designing and implementing health and nutrition programmes.
    Excellent understanding of the nutrition sector within the Kenyan context, particularly maternal, newborn and child nutrition issues.
    Excellent understanding of system approach to ending persistent acute malnutrition.
    Clear understanding of and proactive approach to nutrition resilience, hunger and food security issues in Kenya, particularly in the context of Turkana and Samburu counties.
    Proven representation and advocacy skills.
    Strong commitment to capacity building of county staff and partners with willingness to adopt a participatory and consultative approaches.
    Experience with nutrition programming in arid and semi-arid land (ASAL) settings preferred.
    Experience writing donor reports especially USAID.

    Financial Management

    Act as a key strategic Finance Business Partner to the RO Departments to support key decision making.

    Work with the Human Resources team and Regional Finance Director to establish equitable staff compensation policies and practices within the approved budget and donor requirements.
    Ensure that effective systems are put in place, and regularly reviewed, to allow adequate financial management and control including:

    Annual accounts and tax statement preparation;
    Accounting and management information systems;
    Cash and cash flow management and control;
    Financial procedures during emergency responses;
    Expenditure procedures, especially around procurement;
    Documentation of all controls and procedures;
    Finance training for staff in the RO, field and partners as necessary;
    Monitor accurate and timely submission of financial reports to members, donors and government regulatory agencies.

    Manage the Annual RO internal and external Audit process.

    The poster holder will be an adult learning specialist whose role will be to deliver on the Cash & Voucher Assistance (CVA) capacity building commitments of the Humanitarian Capacity Building Group (HCBG) work plan and in line with priorities set by the Cash & Market Humanitarian Technical Working Group (HTWG).     The Global Humanitarian Surge Platform (GHSP) operates on behalf of the members and SCI, and is dedicated to identifying, developing and deploying skilled and experienced surge staff from across the movement to meet the needs of our domestic and international responses. This helps to improve our response quality, timeliness, and effectiveness; ultimately, this will save the lives of children and their families. The platform is responsible for:

    Ensuring our humanitarian responses have access to suitably skilled and experienced staff they need to deliver a high quality and timely humanitarian response;
    Managing the end to end deployment process for all surge deployments;
    Identifying and developing future humanitarian surge staff to meet the needs of our responses;

    Job Details
    As a member of the regional finance team, the Roving Finance Coordinator will assume country office or regional finance roles for temporary periods to cover resourcing gaps and to deliver on discrete projects and initiatives so that adequate financial management is sustained and improved. This will include the line management of any appropriate finance and awards staff within the remit of the posting, identifying any capacity gaps and proposing appropriate solutions and capacity building of country office teams.
    The role holder will also act as a champion for Save the Children International (SCI) financial policies, standards and procedures, High Performing Organisation (HPO) projects, coaching and mentoring staff and colleagues to ensure a thorough and complete understanding is maintained.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Accounting or commerce degree and relevant full professional qualifications (CPA/CA/ACCA)

    The Regional Head of Advocacy, Campaign, Communication and Media provides overall leadership, strategic direction and management to the advocacy, campaigns, communication and media work of Save the Children across the East and Southern Africa region.
    While our Business Units are the country offices, his/ her main task is to support Countries Offices to develop and implement some SMART advocacy, campaign, communication and media strategies and translate those strategies into proposal funded with adequate resources.
    His/ Her first responsibility will be to undertake advocacy work to advance Save the Children’s policy positions and influence decision-makers, both at national level and internationally. He/ she will support countries to shape and ensure the delivery of high quality Save the Children’s efforts to influence and bring about change in the awareness, attitudes, behaviors and policies related to the rights of children in East and Southern Africa. He/ She takes shared responsibility for the delivery of Save the Children’s 2030 ambition and strategy and coordinates with global advocacy and communications efforts and manages the regional campaign, advocacy.
    As a key member of the ESA Extended Regional Leadership Team, Head of Campaigns and Advocacy takes shared responsibility for the delivery of Save the Children’s 2030 ambition and strategy. He/she represents Save the Children at a senior level to key regional stakeholders, with the ambition to position Save the Children as a leading child-focused campaign and advocacy organization in ESA
    He/she is responsible for creating an enabling internal environment for campaigning and advocacy by leveraging resources, building partnerships, and strengthening capacity and capability of Country Offices and engaging Save the Children Members in ESA. He/ she also may be required to support specific countries to develop some SMART advocacy plans in response to important humanitarian crisis in the region. 
    QUALIFICATIONS /EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

     Strong background in advocacy leadership at a senior level, including policy development and the ability to link programmes with advocacy work.
    Experience in engaging the public in campaigns, including the ability to identify “campaign able” objectives within the policy goals, and to plan and evaluate campaign activities
    Experience in leading the creation and implementation of a strategy, demonstrating the ability to identify the necessary steps towards an ambitious goal.
    Proved experience in developing some strong program integrating advocacy or mobilizing fund for advocacy, including a good Experience in proposal development;
    Proved experience in supporting countries offices from distance or working in “virtual” team;
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate influence and negotiate both internally and externally.
    Sound understanding of the major economic, social development and poverty issues in East and Southern Africa.
    Experience of working within a complex and matrix organisation structure. Excellent training, facilitation, and team building skills. Innovative and creative approach to problem solving. Able to lead by example.
    Experience of building personal networks at senior levels, resulting in securing significant new opportunities for the organisation.
