    Role Purpose:
    Save the Children is developing an ambitious Global Communications, Brand and Marketing Framework to inform and shift how the movement works together to ensure that our communications and engagement is focussed on impact for children.
    The Director will lead our ambitious plans for developing our global brand, global digital engagement, and our integrated marketing approach to support our organisational strategy; helping to accelerate growth, strengthen our brand and increase audience engagement.
    The Director will work closely with the Global Communications Director and Fundraising Hub Director to ensure alignment on priorities, promote an integrated workplan and foster collaboration across their teams. Together they will provide strategic leadership and direction to a core, globally disbursed team at Save the Children International (SCI), which works across the Save the Children Association (SCA) to strengthen the movement’s engagement work, best practice and collaboration with members and country offices.
    The post holder is an active member of the Senior Management Teams of the Resource Mobilisation, Communication & Engagement (RMCE), a part of the broader SCI/SCA Extended Senior Leadership Team, and an active participant representing global communications interests into multiple Governance Groups, while also providing specific updates to the SCI/SCA CEO and the global board(s) as needed.
    Specifically the Director will:

    Lead on the planning and coordination of our annual narrative; ensuring we deliver world class, audience-centred activations for themes, campaigns and key moments where the global federation can unite to create more impact; accelerating both our financial and non-financial support.
    Oversee and lead our new ambitious Global Digital Engagement strategy that aims to identify and mobilise global audiences to drive growth, deepen audience engagement and improve efficiencies across our channels.
    Provide crucial leadership to ensure our global audience insight, engagement funnel and our measurement framework are embedded and effectively utilised.
    Lead our global brand strategy, to build levels of awareness, familiarity, trust and hard preference among our audiences.
    Create a centre of excellence within the federation; supporting members with best practice approaches on brand; marketing integration, audience-centricity and digital engagement.

    This role will be responsible for leading global change and transforming the way we work, which will require leadership and change management skills along with strong cross collaboration throughout our global federated organisation to bring greater alignment in our external engagement. This will involve working closely with peers in the extended leadership team as well as decision makers across the global federation.
    They will also drive excellence in creative engagement, with story telling at its heart, and will be accountable for ensuring this work is informed by our brand, audience insight and ongoing impact monitoring.
    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Proven integrated marketing leadership at a senior level, in a complex, global organisation, with the demonstrable ability to work in a networked organisation, influencing others through ‘soft power’.
    Proven success in developing and implementing integrated marketing approaches that deliver increased income, brand engagement and campaign impact.
    Extensive experience in leading digital strategies and impactful digital engagement approaches which can drive global fundraising and campaigns efforts.
    Experience of leading audience insight work and insight informed approaches to engagement, including consistent testing / analysis to inform first-class integrated supporter experiences across fundraising, engagement and campaigns.

    ROLE PURPOSE
    Save the Children has been implementing nutrition programmes in Wajir County for more than 10 years, with a progressive focus on health system strengthening approaches, particularly since the devolved government system was put in place.  Save the Children, through BHA funds intends to mount an immediate response to mitigate the situation and to cushion the vulnerable population affected by the drought. The overall objective of this project is to increase access to nutrition sensitive recovery interventions for pregnant women and children in Wajir. 
    The Outreach Assistant, will be part of the County health and nutrition response team and will play a critical role in scaling up lifesaving health and nutrition interventions for children and pregnant women in the targeted sub-counties.  
    In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
    Programme Implementation

    Support day to day implementation of integrated health and nutrition outreach services that entails; WASH activities, health, nutrition and child protection issues.
    Conduct health education, hygiene promotion and disseminate child protection messages during field activity
    Support mass screening, joint supervision with DOH in the targeted sub-counties.
    Prepare and submit field trip reports, take part in the development of weekly reports

    Support Implementation Management of at risk mother and infant who are less than 6 month (MAMI)
    Supervise Maternal Infant and Young Child programme conducted by CHEWs and CHVs. 
    Support CHVs to conduct screening and referral for pregnant women and children with malnutrition and to carry out follow up and tracing.
    Support sensitisation and on the job mentoring of   Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs)/health facility in-charges on various health and nutrition to topics. 
    Support the DOH to Carry out Social Behaviour Change Communication on maternal, infant and young child nutrition.
    Work collaboratively to integrate the health and nutrition program with other sectors where appropriate, particularly with WASH, FSL and Protection.
    Work with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) team and other nutrition and health staff for monitoring and evaluation of project activities especially those related to nutrition emergency response work within the project, including preparation of monitoring reports, documents and lessons learned.
    Submission of activity reports.
    Carry out regular health facility and group monitoring visits and facilitate and attend facility review meetings to provide support.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    Essential

    Diploma in Nursing from a recognised institution.

    ROLE PURPOSE
    The SBC Officer will implement Health, Nutrition and adolescent sexual reproductive health (ASRH) SBC related interventions in Samburu. The SBC Officer will support in the designing of the overall SBC strategy and integrated umbrella campaign. S/he will ensure that all SBC activities support the achievement of health & nutrition targets in the project sites. The position will be responsible for the timely implementation of all SBC related activities based on state of the art SBC practices and capture lessons learned. The SBC officer will also take a leading role in coordination with all project staff and partners in the consortium to adhere to the SBC strategy and approach in their respective Counties.  S/he will work closely with project technical and management staff to generate stakeholder inputs, support in development of implementation plans and suitable knowledge management and measurement.

    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
    Technical assistance and capacity building

    This staff will be the primary driver of developing the SBC approach, branding campaign platforms and working with all purpose leads (Governance, health & nutrition, WASH and Livelihoods) to ensure they are using state-of-the-art SBC approaches linked to the overall strategy and work with them on the development of SBC content (i.e. trigger videos, forum theatre, experiential fairs, radio diaries, experiential and participatory learning) as appropriate.
    Mobilize and engage with communities through the MOH structures including Community Health Services and other change agents in the project to address negative social determinants to health and nutrition.

    Capacity Building, Mentorship and development

    Build the capacity of USAID Nawiri field staff to be able to support and oversee the community change agents’ engagement with the community members. Support in the identification and development of innovative approaches for changing the attitudes, perceptions, and practices around decision-making for health and nutrition outcomes, at multiple levels and scales (e.g. individual, HH, community, public and private sector institutions, etc.)
    Lead and motivate the community own resource persons (e.g. CHVs) to ensure effective project implementation. 

    Representation and advocacy

    Represent NAWIRI in relevant internal and external fora as required.
    Represent Save the Children in relevant internal and external fora as appropriate
    Work closely with the Health and Nutrition team and any other project and operations teams in advocating for the survival of the child in line with the Country Strategic Plan and global strategy of Save the Children
    Work with consortium members to further Save the Children’s mission for children.

    Assessment, monitoring, evaluation and documentation

    Participate in the annual work planning process in close collaboration with USAID, MOH and County health teams and the project staff
    Prepare narrative reports for the donor(s) and Save the Children as required, ensuring these are of a high quality and submitted for review in a timely manner. This will involve compilation of information from a range of project staff and MoH partners
    Facilitate appropriate dissemination of research findings and good practices documentations in the project internally and externally to donors, governments, consortium partners and other key actors for immediate and sustainable development of children in Kenya
    Escalate complaints and feedback of a serious nature to field manager/Technical Head and child safeguarding focal point.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Minimum Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field.
    Experience implementing SBC, ASRH, health promotion, social marketing, child health, nutrition or similar programs in Kenya. Knowledge of and ability to implement using the Human Centred Design (HCD) would be an advantage as experience in water, sanitation, and hygiene.
    Minimum of 5 years of experience required in health communication, public health promotion, health or behavioural sciences, or related field and demonstrated experience in community-based and inter-disciplinary teams.

    Objective of Internship

    Role Purpose:
    As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in Kenya & Madagascar, the Director of Program Development and Quality (PDQ) is responsible for driving cross-functional engagement in the development and delivery of Country Strategy Plans (CSPs), developing annual plans, and reporting on results. S/he is responsible for ensuring the development and delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, innovative programs for children, in all contexts, that contribute to Save the Children’s global Breakthroughs: Learn, Survive, Be Protected. The Director of PDQ ensures that a robust monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) system is in place, that the country office engages in the collection and use of evidence that this is shared across the global organization, and that reliable data is used for decision-making. One key aspect of the role is ensuring capability building, mentoring, and coaching of technical specialists to support program quality in line with global standards and key performance indicators. As a senior leader in the country office, s/he plays a representational role with the government, donors, partners, peer agencies, SC Members, and others. The Director of PDQ supports strategic positioning with donors and partners and leads in project design to ensure that the country office strategy can be delivered in line with child rights programming principles.
    Scope of role:

    Staff directly reporting to this post: Head of MEAL, Technical Specialists (Health and Nutrition, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Child Poverty, and cross-cutting areas such as gender equality, migration, and displacement, TDD etc.), Advocacy and Campaigns Manager, and Business Development Manager.
    Role Dimensions:
    As one of the most senior staff in the Country Office, the Director of Program Development and Quality (PDQ) must demonstrate the qualities of agile leadership. S/he plays a key role in defining and pursuing the strategic direction for Save the Children’s programs in Kenya & Madagascar, ensuring the relevance, coherence, safety, and impact of our programs for children in all contexts. This is a challenging role requiring an individual who can work with complexity and multiple tasks at one time. It is essential that the Director of Program Development and Quality builds and maintains strong relationships across functions within the CO, including with team members from Operations, Awards Management, Human Resources and Finance, and s/he should lead by example in demonstrating this cross-functional collaboration.     Program Design & Development

    Based on tracking provided by the Awards Management team, review and position for opportunities that will drive the CSP.
    In consultation with the Country Director and Members, ensure technical engagement with donors to pre-position and prepare for opportunities, and engage in strategic positioning work directly as appropriate.
    Plag a leading role in designing proposals, including ;
    Engaging with technical experts as needed to ensure high quality, evidence-based designs that draw on needs assessments, learning from past programs and child safeguarding principles.
    Ensuring partners are identified and appropriately engaged in program design, linl‹ing with Operations and Awards teams as need be for assessments, especially to strengthen gender sensitivity at the design stage.
    Ensuring proposal designs and their budgets include robust MEAL plans that are aligned with the Global Results Framework (and therefore advance towards our Breakthroughs), incorporate Common Approaches as relevant, and build in critical learning questions.
    Ensuring the project budget will enable the project to be delivered as designed.

    Program Quality and Program Technical Excellence
    Ensure the country program delivers high-quality, multi-sectoral programming in both development and humanitarian contexts (as appropriate);

    Monitor and advance the technical and operational quality of programmes, including conducting regular field visits to provide feedback on quality benchmarks, soliciting inputs for the design of new programs and collecting ideas for innovation.
    Monitor program Key Performance Indicators and, in partnership with other functions, take steps to improve the quality programming platform to meet agreed-upon standards.
    Work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure Quality Framework standards are met and procedures are followed throughout the project cycle and across the portfolio.
    Ensure technical experts proactively and regularly communicate planned requirements for program design, learning and implementation to relevant CO departments/functions.

    Build and lead a team of program technical experts needed to successfully deliver against the CSP. Ensure effective working relationships with SC global, Member and regional technical advisors, procuring technical support as needed to support program and advocacy efforts, including during Emergencies;

    Ensure that program technical experts engage in larger communities of practice within and external to Save the Children, to link with the most relevant and evidence-based approaches and conduct timely and useful reviews of project reports to support quality reporting for Members and donors.
    Ensure that the different technical sectors of the Country Office are coordinated and integrated, and support each other to optimize programs and projects.
    Ensure that child safeguarding and safe programming is embedded in program design and considered throughout implementation to ensure that we do all we can to ensure children in our programs are safe and in line with our child safeguarding policy.

    Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning (MEAL) and Knowledge management 

    Oversee a monitoring system that provides timely and accurate project results by embedding MEAL across program implementation. This requires ensuring effective collaboration across MEAL staff, Technical Specialists, Technical Advisors, and program implementation teams to develop log frames, indicators, implementation plans, quality benchmarks, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and related tools.
    Lead programme quality improvements by monitoring and improving Programme KPI performance, including resourcing and conducting high-quality evaluations to demonstrate outcomes and impact and ensuring that accountability mechanisms are in place for all projects so that identified actions are resolved, with critical issues escalated to senior management.
    Ensure the research, evaluation and policy work of the Country Office contributes to the generation of evidence for the development and improvement of Common Approaches, sound decision making and policy influencing internally and externally.
    Establish effective program learning and knowledge management systems to support adaptive programming and innovation that improves outcomes for children.

    Advocacy and Campaigns

    Ensure the development of an advocacy strategy and annual plans linked to the CSP, with clear campaign deliverables, for the Country Office.
    Represent Save the Children as part of advocacy and networking with government authorities, donors, partners, civil society actors, children, and other stakeholders to build relationships to facilitate the achievement of CSP strategic goals and the success of our projects for children.

    Partnership

    Play a key role in identifying nurturing and strengthening strategic partnerships with local and international civil society organizations, NGOs, governments, etc., in advancing the country and global strategy to inspire our three breakthroughs for the most deprived and marginalised children.

    The Senior Project Manager role will sit in one of our Next Generation Transformation projects or initiatives. The role holder will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the required project and portfolio management reporting including risk and issues logs, dependencies, status updates etc. In addition, they will manage the Project Management deliverables as part of the defined Save the Children Project Lifecycle examples including the Project and Assurance Plan. A core part of the team’s delivery will be through agile product management, and the role holder will act as Scrum Master and facilitate agile ceremonies for our product development workstream. The role will also be required to work closely with the Business Analyst, Member Project Teams, Change teams and External Vendors. The Senior Project Manager will work with the relevant Global Change Manager to manage the relationship with our Member and Country Offices as well as work with an international team of IT staff and subject matter experts to drive our delivery and deployment forward.
    The Senior Project Manager will be part of thriving project and change management community within our Transformation Delivery department. This department is responsible for managing the change management activities and deployment of projects into 60 Country and Regional offices and 29 Member organisations.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
    Essential:

    Previous experience of delivering projects focused on the transformation journey on one of the key enablers mentioned; digital, data or localisation or alternatively of driving wider efficiencies in an operational or wider IT space
    Extensive track record of successfully managing projects and programmes with multi-location roll outs and accountability for both technology configuration and deployment, integration, business process, change and infrastructure activities
    Experience in establishing and embedding Agile ways of working to deliver successful projects
    Demonstrable experience and in-depth knowledge of programme and projects practices and standards (SCRUM, and others like Prince2, etc.)

    The Finance and Awards Officer will support the Finance Coordinator in managing the finance activities, financial controls, computerised accounting systems and staff in Turkana in line with Save the Children’s financial procedures.     Support the Nawiri Finance Coordinator in addressing audit recommendations in good time and ensure field staff fully understand and comply with the standard financial procedures.
    Processing the payments for Nawiri including M-PESA and online payments.
    Ensure that all Nawiri documents are archived and scanned properly.

    Reporting and Financial Analysis 

    Prepare weekly VAT, customes and levies schedule and fill DA-1 forms for reimbursement in compliance with USAID guidelines
    Prepare and keep track of the annual VAT reports to the donor in compliance with USAID guidelines and contractual agreements with the prime.
    Prepare the BvA for the Nawiri programme on a weekly basis, document the deviation from the donor approved budget and communicate to the budget holders.
    Advice the budget holders on coding of transactions with emphasis to project codes, this will also involve training of budget holders on coding of transactions.
    Take part in preparation of financial reports to donors in compliance with USAID guidelines and contractual agreements with the prime.
    Take part in budget realignment/revision and ensure that this is done on time and accurately.
    Support the Finance Coordinator in development of monthly cash forecast for Nawiri programme.

    Awards Management

    Support the Nawiri Finance Coordinator in the upload the phased budgets as per the phased budget submitted by the budget holder.
    Work with the Finance Coordinator to manage and update the master budget for Turkana office, and pro-actively highlight gaps;
    Support the Finance Coordinator in award opening and closing meetings for Nawiri with the Budget holder

    Policy & Donor Regulations Compliance

    Assist Turkana office in day to day compliance and award financial management issues. Gather information from Kenya Office Awards Team and/or other units within Finance in resolving an issue related to compliance.

    Supervise and gather relevant, appropriate images and film in the field, while remaining sensitive to the realities on the ground and child safeguarding concerns. 
    Produce or support the production of child- led and child- focused multimedia materials in the form of photography, video, and written materials that address the needs of communities, government, country programmes, the regional office, and Save the Children’s global membership. 
    Ensure that all delegations undertaking media trips to communities are oriented on child safeguarding and held accountable. 
    Support risk mitigation approaches during sensitive moments for media outreach.

    New Business Development 

    Incorporate Media Priorities into all new proposals and awards to ensure adequate resourcing and cost recovery. 
    Ensure that media resourcing meets the threshold of 5% of all budgets, if not more. 

    Internal Communication 

    Compile and develop Save the Children’s country reports, sit reps and newsletters as required.
     Provide assistance to content and layout of creative promotional materials such as leaflets, fact sheets, info graphics, creative audiovisual information, brochures and other communications materials.
     Lead the development of a communications calendar capturing priorities of actions and products for the Country office.

    The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for day-to-day implementation of the nutrition components in the UKAM ACCEPT project. ACCEPT will increase the quality and availability of essential maternal, newborn and child health & nutrition services in Mandera and Turkana counties, Kenya. It will benefit over 200,000 vulnerable people, including pregnant and lactating women, children under 5 and their caregivers. The combined prevention and treatment approach will be delivered in away that is tailored to the needs of nomadic populations. It will support local healthcare provision and promote gender
    equality and inclusion. He/ She will play a critical role in promoting delivery of quality life-saving interventions in collaboration with health and nutrition teams within Save the Children and with key stakeholders. In close liaison with MEAL, support in collection, processing and verification of reports/forms and maintains programme/projects databases.
    SCOPE OF ROLE:

    Dimensions: Save the Children has been operational in Kenya since the 1950s, providing support to children through developmental and humanitarian relief programmes delivered both directly and through local partners. Current programming focuses on child protection, child rights governance, education, health, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods, nutrition and WASH. In 2012, as part of a global reorganization process, Save the Children combined the programmes of SC UK, SC Canada and SC Finland to create a single operation in Kenya. In Feb 2014, we completed a second transition, which saw us join forces with the British INGO, Merlin, and merge their health and nutrition programmes with our own. Save the Children now has an operational presence in Bungoma, Dadaab Refugee Camp, Garissa, Mandera, Turkana and Wajir and a footprint in Kakamega, Kisumu, Migori and Kitui. In 2016, Save the Children established a new project office in Madagascar whose operations are managed by the Kenya CO.

    Provide technical assistance to MoH towards implementation of integrated community case management and integration with uncomplicated acute malnutrition.

    Support water, sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) related activities in the ACCEPT project

    Work with MOH to strengthen Community Health Service delivery and the community – facility linkage.

    Monitoring and Evaluation.

    Participate in the design, development and implementation of an M&E framework for health related activities.
    Document the process of implementation, lessons learnt, case studies and good practice to ensure information is widely disseminated.
    With the support of MEAL team ensure project performance is tracked and quality standards adhered to.
    Coordinate regular project monitoring and supervision in liaison with the SCHMTs to ensure quality project implementation according to agreed standards.
    Ensure the compilation of quality and timely activity and monthly reports for the project.
    Collect and manage complaints and feedback in close coordination with MEAL team.

    Supervision

    Develop a comprehensive plan for supervision of all the field health activities to ensure implementation adheres to develop monthly work plans. 
    Support regular review meetings with the Sub County community strategy focal person and community health assistants. 

    Development of health education training and counselling materials.

    Participate in the design/adaptation of appropriate health education and promotion methods and tools, and pre- testing them with the team and community members.
    Liaise with the health education department at the Ministry of health to adapt and produce appropriate health education materials

    Network and coordinate with the relevant sectors and agencies implementing health activities at national and community level.

    Identify areas of synergy in the field with the Ministry of Health and other implementing agencies working with communities. 
    Come up with a comprehensive plan of activities within the identified areas of synergy with the actors named above.

    Implement Community Mobilization Activities.

    Liaise and establish strong links with existing community structures including mother to mother support groups, community units, youth groups, village elders and religious leaders.
    Support community dialogue and action days.

    Strengthen Community – Health Facility Referral system and Linkage.

    Work with Ministry of Health to strengthen a referral system at community level and implement activities to strengthen the community –facility linkage.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s degree health sciences (Nutrition, Nursing, Public health) or equivalent.
    At least two (3) years’ work experience in health programming including monitoring and evaluation. 
    Experience in community mobilization within the development context. 
    Experience working with the Kenya Community Health Strategy is an added advantage.
    Good understanding and experience working with MOH and county health departments, health stakeholders, opinion leaders and integration of donor funded programmes into county plans.
    Experience in training and capacity building.
    Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of organizations.
    Experience of and commitment to utilizing participatory approaches.
