    ROLE SUMMARY

    To provide oversight and management for MAF Kenya Maintenance Control including management and oversight of technical records and the Technical Records Officer. To provide Maintenance Control support to MAF Tanzania, MAF South Sudan and MAF Chad. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    To ensure the airworthiness and serviceability of all aircraft listed on MAF Kenya, MAF Tanzania and MAF Chad s’s Air Operator’s Certificates by:

    Ensuring all required maintenance (scheduled and unscheduled), all Airworthiness Directives, mandatory and cost effective modifications are accomplished in a timely manner and to an approved standard;
    Ensuring that all defect rectification is performed, taking into account the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and in accordance with approved methods;
    Ensuring that a Certificate of Release to Service is issued after inspection, maintenance or defect rectification;
    Ensuring that the hours, landings and cycles information of each aircraft are updated in the MAF approved maintenance scheduling software.

    To ensure that the required aircraft and programme documentation is current and complete by:

    Establishing and maintaining an Aircraft Maintenance Programme (AMP) for each aircraft type in accordance with the latest revision of the recommended maintenance schedules and airworthiness limitations issued by the Type Certificate Holder;
    Managing the effective performance of the technical records department including line management of the Technical Records Officer;
    Ensuring that the MEL for each aircraft is current and reflects the latest revision of the Master MEL;
    Ensuring that a full library of documentation required for the maintenance of the aircraft is held in current amendment state;
    Establishing and maintaining an Aircraft Technical Log system;
    Ensuring that the Maintenance Control Manual is always kept current in relation to Airworthiness Authority requirements; 
    Ensuring correct certification and storage of aircraft maintenance logbooks.
    Ensuring that the Certificate of Airworthiness is kept current for each aircraft.

    To actively participate in the Quality and Safety Management Systems by:

    Seeking opportunities for continual improvement;
    Co-operating with quality and safety audits as applicable;
    Utilizing the problem reporting system;
    Using safe working practices including the use of PPE.

    To manage the effective and efficient use of resources by:

    Developing cost effective contracts with Approved Maintenance Organisations for the accomplishment of required maintenance activities and modifications and to arrange supervision of the contracted work;
    Providing a clear work order or contract to the maintenance organisation or ground services contractor;
    Maintaining optimum coordination between the maintenance service provider and the Flight Operations departments in Kenya, Chad, Tanzania and South Sudan
    Organising visits to Chad, Tanzania and South Sudan to liaise with Ops staff.
    Liaising with the Quality departments in Kenya, Chad, Tanzania and South Sudan to effect timely corrective actions in response to non-conformities;
    Cooperating with and giving necessary assistance to Quality Auditors;
    Recommending changes to documented processes and procedures;
    Participating in regular Safety Action Group and Quality meetings as required.

    In additon to the HOM role, support the MAF Kenya AMO at agreed times to perform efficient and effective maintenance and repair of aircraft and associated systems by:

    Performing all work in accordance with applicable standards and practices
    Participating in team decisions and activities 
    Certifying work as required
    Completing all required documentation 
    Supervising both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work in the hangar as required 
    Assigning tasks to the Technicians and Engineers as necessary 
    Provide mentoring and training to AMO staff by participating in the aircraft maintenance 

    To participate in the spiritual life of MAF by:

    Attending corporate daily prayer meetings to hear about the work of MAF and to spend time in prayer and worship with other staff members
    Encouraging other team members to attend corporate prayer meetings
    Leading or participating in spiritual sessions of prayer and biblical reflection within the team
    Demonstrating commitment to the vision, mission, values and beliefs of MAF
    Actively working and living in accordance with the evangelical Christian beliefs of MAF
    Maintaining your own spiritual development and relationship with God e.g. through individual prayer and reflection days
    Other reasonable responsibilities as may be required by your line manager

    ACCOUNTABILITY

    The Area Head of maintenance is responsible to the Accountable Manager (AM) of the Kenya AOC, and in part to the AM of the Tanzania and Chad AOC’s. Due to the nature of the setup of the operations, with the largest part of the aircraft fleet operating in South Sudan, close and immediate liaison with the MAF SSD Ops Manager in South Sudan is essential to be effective in this role.

    RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS
    Essential Desirable
    Education and Qualifications:

    Secondary School Completion Certificate
    EASA or equivalent Maintenance Engineer 
    Licence with appropriate type ratings
    Aptitude in verbal, numerical, abstract and mechanical reasoning
    KCAA License in any category.

    Job Related 
    Experience:

    Three years experience maintaining fixed wing aircraft including at least one year certifying aircraft for release to service
    Experience in tracking and scheduling maintenance tasks

    Personal Qualities:

    Ability to make decisions based on values driven framework, particularly when resolving conflicting priorities
    Ability to communicate clearly across both geographical and cultural boundaries

    Overview
    Mission Aviation Fellowship is a Christian organization. As a worldwide partnership we operate over 135 aircraft from bases in more than 30 countries, serving about 2,500 destinations; these aircraft are used to enable aid and development agencies, missions, national churches and other local groups; serving together to bringing help, hope and healing. MAF in Kenya has 2 aircraft based at Wilson Airport, where our Operations Centre is located. MAF in Tanzania has 2 aircraft based in Arusha.
    At Wilson Airport we are also supporting the maintenance of 5 aircraft in Juba, South Sudan. The flight program in both countries supports the ministries of the different organizations serving in Kenya, South Sudan and Tanzania.
    We currently have a vacancy for the position of  Communications Officer for Kenya and Tanzania, based in Nairobi.
    Responsibilities

    You will work as part of the MAF International Communications team and you will provide a frequent and detailed flow of information from the programmes to the wider MAF community. You will also work towards increasing awareness of MAF’s services within Kenya, with the aim of helping expand our work in-country.  

    Qualifications, Skills & Experience

    A higher qualification in Journalism, Communications or related subject; Fluency in Swahili and English and a minimum of two years of experience in a communication-based role, ideally in a mission/NGO setting.
    In previous jobs you will have gained experience with gathering, organizing and presenting information in an engaging and informative manner; you know how to write good stories, know how to take good photos and shoot and edit video.
    You have excellent communication skills; great attention to detail and have worked with people from different cultures and backgrounds. You are flexible towards others and to circumstances; you are willing to travel at short notice and you are a committed Christian who fully agrees with MAF s statement of faith.

    Finance Officer

    We currently have a vacancy in our Finance department for the position of Finance Officer. You will work as part of the Finance team and assist the Finance Manager in his/her responsibilities, primarily through the management of the purchase ledger; the processing of the monthly payroll; and accurately creating and processing accounting journals.

    Responsibilities

    There will be a variety of responsibilities in your role, some of which will be: taking full responsibility for the preparation of the monthly payroll; the main responsibility for the upkeep of purchase ledger, including
    the payment of invoices and the preparing and processing prepayment, accruals and other accounting journals.

    Qualifications

    Bookkeeping or basic accounting qualification; KCSEs (or equivalent) level Maths and English at grade C or
    above; Knowledge and understanding of Kenyan labour and tax law as it relates to payroll; Good English language skills;
    Experience of working with computers especially spreadsheets and accounts software;
    Experience of working reliably with money.

    Stores Officer

    Responsibilities:

    Issuing and receiving of all aircraft spares, tools and equipment;
    Preparing Africair invoices ready for payment in a format specified by the Finance Department;
    Processing sales of spares to other MAF programmes, AIM, outside clients including; Invoicing, recording receipts, and handling of cash;
    Preparing the stock journal spreadsheet ready for checking and processing by Finance;
    Storing spare parts, tools and consumables correctly;
    Performing periodic stock checks and shelf life expiry stock;
    Recording and filing all paperwork associated with spares, tools and consumables;
    Invoicing for all maintenance work on third party aircraft;
    Processing the hiring out of tools to outside customers;
    Delivering and collecting parts or tools to and from overhaul shops;
    Administering the batching process;
    Purchasing, checking oil and grease usage records on a regular basis;
    Sourcing of spare parts from Air Operators at Wilson Airport;
    Filling in and undertaking the duties of the Stores Supervisor when required;
    Verifying customers invoices to ensure they are billed as per the works done (for parts and prices);
    Preparing import and export documentations for spares;
    Liaising with clearing agents to ensure parts are cleared in time;
    Binning of received parts;
    Tools calibration control;
    Undertaking any other duties which may be reasonably asked by your Line Manager

    Qualifications:
    (Essential):

    Secondary school completion certificate with minimum C plain average;
    Successful completion of a Diploma in purchasing and supplies or similar;
    Completion of a recognized course in computers or significant experience working with the same;
    Experience working in an aviation related field would be highly valued;
    At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
    Holder of a valid driver’s license and proficiency to drive saloon cars and manual pickups.
