    Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Director, Program Operations in the Africa Area Office, with the matrix supervision by the Volunteer and Institutional Engagement Division, Volunteer Programs Specialist (AFR) is responsible for the strategic development and strengthening of volunteer programs and services in the region. The position provides management, coordination and guidance in the development, implementation, and evaluation of volunteer programs in alignment with the overall vision, mission and program framework of Habitat for Humanity International.

    Roles and Responsibilities.
    Global Village Program Implementation and Coordination.

    Manage and coordinate teams participating in the Global Village, including but not limited to program/project administration, training, budget planning and risk management.
    Support every aspect of volunteer journey (e.g. Global Village resource creation/update) in close collaboration with colleagues in programs, advocacy, communications and resource development to strengthen volunteer mobilization.
    Ensure close collaboration between Habitat Africa network and other regional and global teams in support of Africa volunteer programs strategy, including active participation in the Global Village remodel.
    Coordinate and provide emergency support to volunteer teams and country programs during a time of crisis.
    Support other types of build opportunities taking place in the region in coordination with Resource Development or Tithe or other relevant departments, ensuring the implementation of Habitat’s volunteer duty of care.

    Program Management (Youth and National Volunteering).

    Collaborate with regional and global teams to support the development and implementation of Habitat’s strategy for youth engagement in the region, aligning closely with the organization’s overarching goals and objectives.
    Engage in extensive consultation with relevant departments to underscore the significance of youth volunteerism, leveraging both new product development and existing initiatives from national organizations to amplify awareness and participation.
    Partner with regional teams to integrate and advance youth engagement across all facets of Habitat’s programs and projects, ensuring it becomes a fundamental component of our organizational approach.
    Liaise closely with area office teams to establish a robust pipeline aimed at maximizing funding opportunities, thereby fostering the sustainability of youth and national volunteering initiatives. Additionally, collaborate with external partners to expand Habitat’s influence and impact in the realm of youth engagement, in alignment with our strategic priorities.

    Monitoring and Evaluation.

    Review volunteer evaluations and feedback pre, during and post-engagement, compile reports and recommend necessary changes and improvement for maintaining or strengthening standards and program quality.
    Monitor and ensure implementation of minimum standards and relevant policies by national organizations involving volunteers.
    Work with other teams and national organizations to create awareness about Global Village and other volunteer programs results and direct and indirect impact.

    Capacity Development and Partnerships.

    Lead in the design and delivery of training opportunities to upgrade staff skills in volunteer management, program development, volunteer fundraising and events, and collaborate with other departments and offices in providing holistic support to national organizations.
    Provide thought leadership and related guidance to improve the capacity of the network in managing volunteer programs (beyond Global Village) and understanding volunteering in development.
    Facilitate in creating sustainable partnerships that will drive innovations and growth through volunteering.
    Build the knowledge and experience in volunteer program management and development of tools and resources.

    Other Specialized Support.

    Consolidate qualitative and quantitative reporting of all volunteer programs, projects and initiatives, manage and document volunteer data including financial return on investment (ROI) analysis.
    Liaise with global and other Area Office teams in all aspects of volunteer engagement and next generation programming for and on behalf of the Africa region.
    Support the Resource Development team in cultivating volunteer interest and tapping volunteer skills into other Resource Development channels to fund the mission.
    Support youth initiatives and engagements in the Africa Region including but not limited to volunteerism.

    Minimum Requirements:
    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in development, political science or a related field Working experience in NGO sector and international development.

    Years of Related Experience:

    Minimum 5 years of volunteer mobilization and management and/or volunteer programming in peace and development settings

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Affinity and interest in volunteering, advocacy, and active citizenship
    Good overview of formal and informal volunteer engagement organisations, networks, and programs, preferably in Africa
    Manage multiple tasks at the same time, able to prioritize and manage deadline.
    Deep knowledge of program operational work in coordination with multiple stakeholders in different time zones;

    JOB PURPOSE

    Reporting to the Procurement officer, the Procurement Intern will provide procurement support on various tasks within the Procurement function under finance and operations department.

    DURATION OF INTERNSHIP: UNTIL 31 DEC 2024
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Assist in drafting bidding documents, evaluation reports and contract award submissions, ensuring consistency in format and content.
    Assist in processing procurement transactions for payments.
    Assist in the preparation of Local Purchase/Service Orders and ensure all back up documents are attached before being signed off by signatories.

    Filing (soft and hardcopies) of procurement documents including quotations, minutes and contracts ensuring that the complete procurement files are uploaded on in the appropriate folders(e-filing).
    Scanning of various procurement documents as and when required by your supervisor.
    Participate in procurement committee meetings, departmental meetings, take minutes as and when requested.

    Timely updating of procurement tracker.

    Associate Director – Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Coordination

    This position is highly collaborative and cross-functional as is necessary to consistently reinforce team structures related to emergency, crisis and disaster coordination and support. This role requires relationship-building within internal and external networks to create partnerships that support, aid, and enhance Habitat for Humanity work and enterprise-wide collaboration

    This is a one-year position that can be remotely based in the US, Philippines, Kenya or Slovakia.
    Key Responsibilities

    Provide programmatic and technical support to US Canada Disaster Risk Reduction and Response team efforts related to Disaster preparedness and response (30%).
    Collaboratively work with area offices on the Disaster Risk Reduction and Response key projects, initiatives and grants (35%).
    Support DR3 team knowledge management, research and learning (15%).
    Other duties as assigned by supervisor (20%).
    Support the work with area offices in the implementation of DR3 capacity assessments and/or training with Habitat national organizations, informing the allocation and follow up of disaster response readiness grants.
    Provide surge capacity on programmatic and technical support as needed to the Africa Area Office during the inception along with providing technical staff onboarding and project implementation.
    Set up and coordinate contract and reporting for various high level donors supporting grant funding for the Global Shelter Cluster Focal Point for Research.
    Summarize and disseminate new and existing research for advocacy and knowledge exchange. This involves direct coordination with Communications and the Learning and Research community of practice.
    Contribute to knowledge content management as required to DR3 themes and contents in the International Knowledge Center (IKC).
    Contribute to the ongoing update of the DR3 databases.
    Oversee After Action Review process, evaluation and documentation.

    Key Requirements

    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
    At least 6 years of experience in training/management of DR3 and emergency response programs for multiple countries along with experience managing grants.

    Together with the procurement officer, ensures that goods, services and works procured by the HFH Kenya are of the right quality, in the right quantities, at the right price, delivered to the right place, at the right time (5 Rs).
    Filing (soft and hardcopies) of procurement documents including quotations, minutes and contracts ensuring that the complete procurement files are uploaded on in the appropriate folders(e-filing).
    Scanning of various procurement documents as and when required by your supervisor.
    Participate in procurement committee meetings, departmental meetings, take minutes as and when requested.

    Timely updating of procurement tracker.
    Timely preparation of bidding documents, evaluation reports and contract award submissions.

    Degree in procurement and logistics or another relevant Degree or
    Higher diploma in procurement and logistic with membership to KISM.

    This position is highly collaborative and cross-functional as is necessary to consistently reinforce team structures related to emergency, crisis and disaster coordination and support.     This is a one-year position that can be remotely based in the US, Philippines, Kenya or Slovakia.
    Key Responsibilities

    Provide programmatic and technical support to US Canada Disaster Risk Reduction and Response team efforts related to Disaster preparedness and response (30%).
    Collaboratively work with area offices on the Disaster Risk Reduction and Response key projects, initiatives and grants (35%).
    Support DR3 team knowledge management, research and learning (15%).
    Other duties as assigned by supervisor (20%).
    Support the work with area offices in the implementation of DR3 capacity assessments and/or training with Habitat national organizations, informing the allocation and follow up of disaster response readiness grants.
    Provide surge capacity on programmatic and technical support as needed to the Africa Area Office during the inception along with providing technical staff onboarding and project implementation.
    Set up and coordinate contract and reporting for various high level donors supporting grant funding for the Global Shelter Cluster Focal Point for Research.
    Summarize and disseminate new and existing research for advocacy and knowledge exchange. This involves direct coordination with Communications and the Learning and Research community of practice.
    Contribute to knowledge content management as required to DR3 themes and contents in the International Knowledge Center (IKC).
    Contribute to the ongoing update of the DR3 databases.
    Oversee After Action Review process, evaluation and documentation.

    Key Requirements

    Urban Programs Manager Africa Safety and Security Advisor

    The Urban Programs Manager will provide leadership and support to HFH AFR National Offices (NOs) in building capacity to implement shelter/housing and settlement programs in urban environments, facilitate knowledge exchange between practitioners, build and strengthen urban networks with external agencies and organizations, and support the development of national urban housing strategies (where applicable). This role will work collaboratively with other functional areas in the AFR Operations team to achieve a coordinated approach for addressing the challenges of urban shelter and settlements programming, as well as engaging with partner organizations, government agencies and donors for a holistic community-based outcome. The position will also contribute to urban global initiatives, including the Global Urban Community of Practice and the co-development of practice-guiding tools and other knowledge products, as well as global capacity building initiatives and events. The ideal candidate will possess a sound working knowledge of pro-poor urban development and low-income urban housing models and will demonstrate significant practical experience in leading initiatives that bring together these two areas of knowledge, including a focus on informal settlements and slum upgrading.

    Program Implementation and Support:
    Provide technical advice and guidance to National Offices in the development of national urban strategies and programs that respond to the rapid urbanization trends in the region, aligning them with local strategic urban or policy priorities, and ensuring the adoption of impactful, comprehensive, and participatory approaches to their work.
    Identify and guide scalable and sustainable models for urban programming adapted to the different contexts in the African region.
    Offer technical expertise on adequate and affordable housing and inclusive urban development during proposal development processes to ensure the technical integrity of projects with an urban emphasis, both at the country and regional levels, for development and humanitarian fields.
    Apply systems thinking in urban programming to ensure that urban shelter programming issues are integrated through every functional area (such as disaster response and risk reduction, advocacy, market development, water sanitation and hygiene, VGH etc.).
    Capacity Building
    Support and advise NOs in the recruitment, orientation, and training of suitably qualified and experienced staff to implement urban shelter programs; provide ongoing support to those staff.
    Assist in the coordination and facilitation of learning events or workshops linked to urban programming issues. Lead individual learning sessions on urban shelter programming within regional forum(s).
    Support and advise individual NOs and the community of practice members as they pilot and implement new urban programming approaches, models, and tools.
    Development and implementation of consultancy services
    Develop a business plan for consultancy services in urban development, policies, and planning, and urban housing schemes and projects under HFH AFR AO. These services would focus on providing technical assistance to public entities, mainstreaming pro-poor, inclusive, and sustainable approaches to urban development and housing.
    Coordinate a scoping exercise across the region to identify appropriate opportunities for such consultancy services, as well as identify key subject matter experts, universities, research institutes, etc., which could be engaged for these services under the HFH brand.
    Lead and coordinate consulting services engagements to public entities from Habitat’s AFR AO in the design and implementation of local housing policies, planning, programs, and projects, by managing external consultants to deliver the services.
    Participation and management of events
    Lead or contribute to the effective management and success of conferences, seminars, forums, roundtables, and other national and regional events. This includes (but is not limited to) Regional Housing Forums, Urban Housing Practitioners’ Hubs’ events, etc.).
    When leading the management of the events, drive entire project life cycles, from event vision and concept to timeline management, budgets, vendors, staffing, execution, creation of different supporting committees (internal and external) and reporting for the events.
    Internal and External Liaison and Coordination.
    Assist in administering and convening meetings with key stakeholders to strategically position HFH AFR as a regional lead in addressing affordable and adequate housing issues particularly in the urban context.
    Participate and actively contribute in appropriate HFHI forums, working groups and networks related to urban programs.
    Nurture and maintain strategic relationships with external actors at regional level (e.g. UN-Habitat, World Vision prominent cso/professional/academic/research institutions) to contribute to organizational learning and build Habitat for Humanity’s credibility and influence in the area of urban programs.

    Purpose and Objectives of the Assignment

    The project wishes to engage the services of a safeguarding consultant to create meaningful participation and access to career opportunities in the green construction industry with a priority focus on youth and women facing significant barriers to employment and provide technical support to the three years Challenge Fund for Youth Empowerment Project. The consultant will work closely with Habitat for Humanity’s relevant departments and other project partners to offer one-to-one support on developing pathways to safe and sustainable decent work for youth and women.

    The key objectives of this assignment will be:

    Assess safeguarding situation for Driving Green Growth in the Construction Sector project partners.
    Support the partners to institute and operationalize effective systems that enable youth and women to communicate that they feel safe or unsafe.
    Institute and operationalize a Safeguarding team to ensure decisions concerning complicated and sensitive issues are arrived at through informed discussion, whilst respecting confidentiality.
    Create awareness on safeguarding among project stakeholders.
    Offer Technical Assistance to partners and build their capacity to develop, institutionalize and enforce Safer recruitment and workplace guidelines.

    Tasks and responsibilities

    Conduct a desktop review and develop an inception report and work plan.
    Develop data collection tools.
    Map, compile and document Safeguarding-related policies, procedures and training resources including Code of Conduct, recruitment, and selection.
    Map, compile, and document local regulations that are related to Safeguarding, particularly laws on sexual abuse and exploitation, the welfare of and protection of children and vulnerable adults (elderly, people with disabilities, women)
    Conduct safeguarding assessment with the project partners.
    Analyse and present the findings.
    Support the project partners to develop and institutionalize/operationalize safeguarding policies and procedures.
    Conduct stakeholder engagement round table to disseminate the findings.
    Prepare and submit final safeguarding assessment report.

    Experience and qualification

    Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, social work, human rights, preferably with a focus on protection/ child protection/ child rights and other relevant fields.
    At least for seven (7) years’ experience in safeguarding, protection, child protection and gender in development or emergency settings, particularly in Kenyan context.
    Experience of managing programs in both development and emergency settings, including some field experience.
    Good understanding and experience of safeguarding practices within the private sector.
    Strong commitment and capacity to engage staff and partners through participatory and consultative approach in developing safeguarding polices and procedures.
    Experience in data management and analysis, including data collection tools design, database design and management and data quality checks.
