    Scope of Work

    Generally, assist Associate Technical Officers/Technical Officers through the overall technical assistance to CHMTs/SCHMTs in the assigned Counties/Sub-counties
    Establish and maintain excellent relationship with the SCHMTs and other community stakeholders within identified area
    Take lead in organizing and coordinating trainings of CHEWS and CHVs, catalysts and community members on messages and tools in context of COVID 19 and signal reporting including various WASH components as well as sensitizing communities on food and water safety measures
    Support community sensitization sessions on COVID-19 through; CHVs/Natural leaders, and NGAOs and community volunteers including Catalysts, Binti Shujaa, Youth, Male champions and Nyumba Kumi
    Take lead in sensitizing community stakeholders and leaders (police, administration, MCAs, Education, and social services) on COVID 19 and their role in mitigating the spread of COVID 19 and its socio-economic effects which includes increase of SGBV.
    Work with the SCHMTs to coordinate community volunteers to sensitize communities to maintain hand hygiene and cough etiquette (includes provision of handwashing facilities in public health facilities) as well as water point protection activities for large catchment community water points (working with water committees, mitigating water contamination, improving access to clean drinking water).
    Work with Youth technical assistants and ATOs in collaboration with the Departments of Education and Public Health to integrate COVID 19 prevention control measures within the schools setting.
    Document day today activities and provide detailed reports for each activity conducted in the respective sub-county

    An officer must have at least a Diploma in either Environmental Health Sciences, Public Health Inspection or related from a recognized institution.
    Minimal experience in community health strategies is an added advantage
    Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

    Technical Assistant, Youth

    The Technical Assistant-Youth, under the supervision of the Senior Technical Officer, Youth and Gender, and working closely with the Technical Officer – Youth, will work with other project teams and relevant government agencies, technical working groups, youth groups and other community based organizations to create demand for reproductive health services and mobilize youth to obtain those services from public and private facilities as well as community based agents. He/she will support the achievement of all the deliverables of the integrated FP/RHMCAH activities of the youth work stream through contributing to work planning as well as monthly and quarterly reports.
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Support social mobilization efforts of youth and adolescents through community structures to effectively participate in health programs.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    The position is based in Baringo County. The project aims to provide technical assistance and support to scale up evidence-based maternal, newborn, and child health interventions; family planning and reproductive health services; and nutrition activities in focus geographical areas.

    Improve access to maternal, new born and child health services through infrastructure improvement, referral system, triggers to deliver in health facilities (eg mama packs), capacity building of healthcare workers and outreach services.
    Increase demand for maternal, new born and child health services through reviving community health units, capacity building of community health volunteers, community engagement through opinion leaders, incentivize and monitoring of community health volunteers.
    Advocate for improved maternal, new born and child health services through establishment Baringo. County maternal and child health stakeholder forum/technical working group, identification and engaging in key maternal, new born and child health policy issues.

    Position purpose

    Requirements

    Eight years of experience implementing OVC programs in a development context, with five of these years in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably Kenya. During this period she/he should have been involved with social services and or public health project design, implementation, reporting and evaluation.
    Demonstrated state-of-the-art experience at a mid- or senior level in at least three of the following areas: child protection, household economic strengthening, social protection, education, health and nutrition including HIV/AIDS care and support; quality improvement; social service systems strengthening, including social services workforce; M&E; and operations research.
    Five years demonstrated experience in managing, coordinating and supervising a team working with local community organizations, families and communities.
    At least five years demonstrated skills in project design, implementation and reporting, preferably for USAID funded programs.

He / She will represent the GS Kenya LINKAGES program at the County TWG meetings and Stakeholder MOH meetings and be the link between LINKAGES project and key stakeholders (such as the National and County MOH personnel).     Provide technical and program management oversight to GOLDSTAR/LINKAGES activities in Kilifi county

    Liaise with county and sub-county health officers, NASCOP TSU, NACC and FHI360/LINKAGES to plan and coordinate on-site continuing medical education (CME), support supervision and mentorship sessions for site staffs and peer educators

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    3-5years relevant experience on KP programming/sexual health for priority populations
    Trained in current HIV management, care and treatment and additional training as a TOT or in both adolescent and adult rational ART use is an added advantage
    Current HIV program implementation experience and current knowledge of KP programming priorities and strategies
