    About the Role
    The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate & Compliance to manage the incorporation of new entities, the change of legal status of already existing ones, and ensure compliance with local laws and regulations to maintain GAIN’s registration worldwide. This role is open to applicants both from Nairobi, Kenya or Cotonou, Benin.
    The Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate & Compliance, will play a key role in enhancing the corporate structure of GAIN’s country programmes worldwide. This is a cross-cutting function, dealing with all teams and senior managers of the foundation.
    Under oversight of the Head of the Legal, the Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate & Compliance, will manage the incorporation of new entities, the change of legal status of already existing ones, and ensure compliance with local laws and regulations to maintain GAIN’s registration worldwide. This is a specialist advisory role focused on corporate matters internationally.
    Key Responsibilities include

    Manage the process of registering new entities where GAIN programmes are implemented, including (i) advising management on available options for registration; (ii) providing recommendations on the most suitable option; and (iii) registering the entity.
    Manage the process of renewing the registration or dissolving entities whenever required.
    Ensure the legal status of already registered entities is aligned with new legislation and meet the organization’s legal and compliant obligations/requirements.
    Facilitate, and ensure that the foundation is conducting its operations in full compliance with all statutory requirements by maintaining a careful legal watch and escalating when necessary. This role will review the foundation’s process for monitoring statutory compliance and will provide recommendations for improvements.
    Provide guidance to Country Directors and operations staff on legal governance and statutory compliance matters.
    Responsible for drafting and/or reviewing country specific documents, such as lease agreements.
    Responsible for preparing and processing for signature Power of Attorneys and revocations for Country Directors.

    About the Role

    The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Webmaster Specialist to develop, maintain and manage the overall performance of GAIN and GAIN’s partner websites. This role will be on a fixed-term contract basis up to 3 years, subject to availability of funding. This position is open to GAIN’s country offices in Nairobi and New Delhi.
    Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, you will be responsible for strengthening and engaging GAIN’S online presence by ensuring our websites are functional, user-friendly, and aligned with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
    You will support GAIN Communications team in website and digital campaign planning, coordination, and implementation, as well as general communications support for the team when needed. You will coordinate and work with other focal points in other countries and programmes and lead on website matters. The postholder will be responsible for facilitating communications with an external web agency and liaise with developers and multiple budgets to coordinate website creation and updating.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    Creating, upgrading, and maintaining website content, new interactive features and multimedia content, and ensuring web accessibility
    Ensuring that the GAIN’s website design is visually and content-wise appealing, intuitive, reaches the targeted audiences, providing positive user experience and troubleshooting any issues that may arise
    Organising, categorising, and managing website content using content management systems (CMS) or other relevant tools
    Overseeing domain registration and renewal, as well as managing web hosting accounts and server configurations. This encompasses GAIN’s partner websites
    Supporting UX design by assisting in creating wireframes and proposing new, streamlined designs in line with GAIN’s branding
    Implementing SEO techniques and strategies to improve website visibility, organic search rankings, and website traffic
    Tracking and analysing website performance through qualitative and quantitative metrics using tools such as Google Analytics and generate regular reports to identify areas for improvement to assess user needs and ensure the website meets those needs and measure success
    Working with IT and developers to implement security measures to protect the website from potential threats, such as malware, hacking attempts, and data breaches. In addition to supporting decision-making for the overall web governance at GAIN
    Working closely with stakeholders, including content creators, designers, developers to ensure the website aligns with business objectives
    Coordinating global and country communications team to include graphic design and social media support, digital support, writing content etc.

    About You

    The ideal candidate will have proven experience in communication roles, preferably with links to website management, marketing, content creation, computer science, journalism, public relations or related area. You will have demonstrable experience working as a webmaster in a business environment using CMS tool such as Drupal (preferred), WordPress, Dreamweaver etc.
    You will also have experience in SEO, UX design and improving online customer journeys and working with and managing third party/external agencies.
    The ideal candidate will posess excellent communication and willing and able to work in a multicultural environment. Also, you will have excellent creativity, writing and editing skills. In addition to this, you will be fluent in written and spoken English, candidates’ with working knowledge of French, Portuguese and additional languages relevant to GAIN offices will be an additional advantage.
    A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in web development, digital marketing, information technology or computer science or related field.     Manager, Nutritious Foods Financing (N3F) Technical Assistance and Innovative Finance

    About the Role

    The manager will lead the implementation of GAIN’s N3F Technical Assistance (TA) offerings, by overseeing and assessing the TA needs of SMEs, matching them with service providers, and implementing activities to ensure the quality of services provided.
    They will coordinate closely with the fund manager of N3F, Incofin, on pipeline development, joint site visits for due diligence by the Investment Manager and TA needs assessments by the N3F TA team, as well as data collected for the development of nutrition profiles for SMEs together with the MEL Specialist, so that the SMEs fit the N3F Fund financial and nutrition criteria.
    The manager will also contribute to the financing engagement work of N3F, to improve awareness, capacity, commitment among investors of nutrition as an investment theme.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    Oversee and design technical assistance support packages tailored to individual SMEs and group training according to common needs in the portfolio in Francophone Africa.
    Identify technical assessment needs of SMEs operating in the food value chain that are potential pipeline for the N3F Fund, working together with the investment officers at our partner asset manager Incofin Investment Management.
    Provide strategic and technical leadership in the design, planning and implementation of the project as per the GAIN Project Management Guidelines (PMG).
    Define project scope, activities and objectives in line with the GAIN business plans, programme frameworks, and organizational strategic priorities.
    Identify, track and resolve project issues on an ongoing basis, and proactively seek support where issues require wider attention and resolution.
    Ensure that implementation of project activities is in line with the policies and best practice standards of GAIN.

    About you

    The ideal candidate should have advanced expertise directly or indirectly related to impact investing, development finance and/or grant-making and TA support to SMEs across Anglophone and Francophone Africa. You should have substantive experience directly or indirectly related to food supply chains and working with SMEs.
    The post holder should have experience leading matchmaking activities between TA requirements and service providers, manage engagements between the organization, service providers, and our beneficiaries. You should be able to identify relevant events to influence and raise awareness of nutrition investing outside of the food systems community.
    The position holder should be deep understanding of what makes an SME scale their operations, grow, and succeed and a demonstrated expertise in the assessment of needs and provision of technical assistance (TA) to SMEs, and more specifically to nutrition focused SMEs. An educational background with a master’s level degree in a relevant field such as business administration, economics, agribusiness, agricultural economics, or bachelor’s degree with requisite years of experience in a relevant field.

    The Monitoring Manager should be a strong communicator with the ability to work effectively in a global multicultural team. You should have deep knowledge of programme design and monitoring tools, their application and quality assurance.
    The post-holder should have knowledge of major quantitative & qualitative monitoring methodologies and proven ability to design monitoring instrumentation tools.     Contribute to the development of programme theories of change and results frameworks and plans in collaboration with the monitoring manager, project managers in Kenya, and the Knowledge Leadership (KL).

    Manage and ensure consistent collection, analysis, review, and interpretation of programme monitoring data and prepare reports in alignment with donor and internal requirements.

    An education background with a bachelor’s degree in social science, Nutrition, Public Health, Economics, or Statistics. Master’s degree would be an added advantage.

They will be responsible for consolidating the purchase of all items, the program teams with the procurement status of items requested and support in the procurement process.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    Support the implementation of financial operations systems in accordance with GAIN policies and procedures while keeping within donor requirements. This includes systems for Cash Flow management, consolidation of accounting information, internal controls, financial reporting, financial record keeping, grant management and compliance.
    Ensuring all transactions for the month are recorded accurately and deadlines set by the global finance team are met.
    Work with the project teams to ensure travel per diems and reimbursements are performed within GAIN policies and procedures and reconcile staff debtors accounts monthly.
    Consolidate procurement plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies for projects and monitoring the procurement process.
    Research and evaluate potential suppliers as well as create and maintain professional relationships with existing vendors and suppliers.
    Preparation of standard bidding documents, with terms and conditions of the tender

    About you

    The ideal candidate should have experience supporting an entire country office in processing and recording of payment transactions. Experience in procurement especially on preparation of standard bidding documents, procurement planning and budgeting. Ability to handle country project teams’ procurement requests in a timely manner.
    The post holder ideally should have an understanding in following up on subaward- compliance issues, audits, and documents. They should be a team player and agile to handle multiple project requests. Previous experience within the non-profit sector will be an asset.
    The candidate should have an education background in accounting or a relevant business field. Minimum of CPA 3 or other relevant accounting qualification with experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or cashiering, including experience with double-entry accounting preferably in an international NGO.

    The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Project Officer, Social Protection who will support the programme and policy team to deliver social protection activities. This role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya for the duration of the project running till end of December 2026 subject to availability of funding.
    GAIN and CARE Kenya are currently implementing a project known as CASCADE whose goal is to improve food security and contribute to the reduction of malnutrition amongst women of reproductive age and children under 5 in Kenya. The programme has two strategic objectives: it aims to increase access to and consumption of healthy diets, as well as increasing the resilience of households to economic and climate change-related shocks across in three counties in Kenya, with a focus on women of reproductive age and children.
    Reporting to the Influencing and Advocacy Manager, the Project Officer, Social Protection will contribute to the implementation of GAIN’s social protection programs, including policy and advocacy support. The successful candidate will support on social protection to ensure our programmes have a social protection lens.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    In consultation with the programme team provide support on social protection to ensure our programmes have social protection lens.
    Support with the updating of the repository of policy documents that are relevant to social protection.

This role will be on a permanent contract basis, subject to availability of funding. This position is open to GAIN’s country offices in London, Nairobi and Delhi.
    Reporting to the Head of IT, you will focus on data and data analytics and by addressing policies, practices and governance for good data management. This role will be crucial in achieving that ambition and you will work with the Head of IT to influence, shape and challenge GAIN as a whole, ensuring a joined-up approach to data.
    The postholder will be responsible for providing ownership and leadership to challenge GAIN at senior level to inform data architecture in line with projects and programmes associated budgets and delivery. 
    Key Responsibilities include

    Leading on the design, development and modification of data management infrastructure to expedite data analysis and reporting, commissioning and managing consultancy support where necessary. Providing technical oversight for integrating new technology or new initiatives into data standards and structures and vice versa
    Managing the design, development, build and implementation of databases that are compatible with company needs, including but not limited to platforms such as Microsoft SQL, Salesforce and Snowflake
    Ensuring database and data systems are designed to be secure from data loss, security breach, and hacking; working with colleagues on awareness and behaviours to keep data safe, leading on the development of best practice around management and governance of GAIN’s information resources

    About You

    The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in a data management, data analysis and business process for a medium to large organisation and proven knowledge of best practice for data organisation and architecture. You will have significant experience in supporting and challenging stakeholders at a senior level across a wide range of data architecture to inform service planning, development associated budgets and delivery.
    The postholder will also have a demonstrative record of delivering high quality complex data deliverables to enable key BI outputs. You will have experience in data warehouse design and implementation as well as developing data models based on multiple sources and separate processes.
    You will have excellent communication skills and able to translate business practices and processes into data management. In addition to this, you will possess fluent written and spoken English, candidates’ with exposure working in multicultural and multi-lingual environments will be an additional advantage.
    A Bachelor’s degree in computer science and information systems or related field, candidates’ with experience or certification in MCSE, ITIL, PRINCE2, APM PMQ and high level of technical knowledge of Salesforce, Sage People and DocuSign CLM would be an advantage.

    About the Role

    The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Senior Associate, Africa Procurement and Business Development (GAIN Premix Facility) to act as the GAIN Premix Facility (GPF) Representative in our Africa countries. This role will be on a fixed-term contract basis up to 2 years and 6 months’, subject to availability of funding. This position is open to GAIN’s country offices in Nairobi, Cotonou, Addis Ababa and Kampala.
    Reporting to the Project Manager, you will manage and develop business relationships with key accounts of the GPF and follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity to increase overall impact of the GPF.
    The Senior Associate will manage client relationships and communications during the premix procurement and fulfilment process including coordinating shipping schedules and the delivery of merchandise and services. In addition to this, the postholder will support the development of local premix supply models for fortification programs and will be expected to travel across Africa.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    Preparing high-quality, rigorous reports and other materials (presentations, briefs and articles) documenting experiences to communicate the performance of GPF for wider dissemination and publication
    Managing the Africa demand forecast, capturing premix needs and quality related inputs for GAIN’s projects (Food Fortification, SMEs, Workforce Nutrition etc.) and other external partners
    Liaising with clients and certification agents on the day-to-day operations of the GPF such as conducting tenders, sample collection and testing, and ensuring a smooth procurement process from order placement through to delivery
    Supporting the Project Manager in risk management assessments of the Credit Facility’ liaising with bankers, GAIN’s finance team and clients and performing client due diligence checks
    Supporting the development of local premix supply systems and models for GAIN’s Large Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) programs and the expansion of new services such as supply of fortification dosifiers and analytical devices
    Expanding the customer base by contributing to business development activities and liaising with prospective clients to develop tailored procurement solutions
    Maintaining relationships with key customer accounts, visiting clients, and consignment stocks warehouses to develop relationships and to monitor progress
    Maintaining constant liaison with the relevant NGO/UN partners, government ministries, fortified foods producers, premix blenders and micronutrient manufacturers, GPF certification agents and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operations of the GPF
    Ensuring GAIN’s regular interaction with partners in Africa and increasing the profile of the GPF, among stakeholders
    Ensuring monthly reporting for the Africa GFP program (in line with GAINs Project Management Standards) to update management on program progress achieved, program plans, changes in direction and challenges encountered

    About You

    The ideal candidate will have professional experience within end-to-end procurement management (specifically with demonstrable experience managing procurement inputs on behalf of clients, food producers and partners within the food ingredients / food fortification industry, working with premix and food fortified food products within the Africa region). You will have a strong background in supply chain and order management; managing suppliers as well as import and export processes, preferably within an international setting / organisation.
    The ideal candidate will also have proven experience and a track record in business development and client management (with a demonstrable background in proposal development, developing a customer base and managing key stakeholders such as NGO/UN partners, government ministries, fortified foods producers, premix blenders and certification agents, and micronutrient manufacturers. You will also have proven credit management experience, managing risk assessments, collections, and performing due diligence checks.
    Candidates’ with work experience in food fortification and/or global food assistance within the developing world or in low-to-middle income countries is desirable.
    You will posess excellent communication and strong stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to work in an environment requiring collaboration with government, industries and international organisations. Also, you will be highly flexible and be willing and able to travel in-country and overseas as and when required.
    In addition to this, you will be fluent in written and spoken English, candidates’ with French language skills will be an additional advantage.

This role will be on a 2 years’ fixed-term contract basis, subject to availability of funding. This position is open to GAIN’s country offices in London, Utrecht and Nairobi.
    Reporting to the Senior Lead, Innovative Finance, you will lead on the provision of technical assistance to SMEs across the food value chain in Sub-Saharan Africa for the Nutritious Foods Financing Facility (N3F). The Senior Associate will also co-lead and contribute to GAIN’s work on innovative financing and coordinate activities under the Nourishing Food Pathways (NFP) work package focused on innovative finance for nutrition. You may be asked to contribute to other activities of GAIN’s Nutrition Enterprise Unit as required.
    Key Responsibilities include

    Identifying the key technical assessment needs of SMEs operating in the food value chain that are in the potential pipeline for the N3F Fund, working together with the investment officers at our partner asset investment management company

    Maintaining up-to-date market knowledge/intelligence, geographic and sector mappings on the food and agriculture financing and (social) (impact) investing landscape and sharing the same within the GAIN team and more broadly, including identifying key partners to influence and support in communication pieces (blogs, reports, articles)

    About You

    The ideal candidate will have professional experience directly or indirectly related to food supply chains, SMEs, technical assistance and experience in a technical assistance facility / accelerator / incubator preferably within the sub-Sahara region. Candidates’ with experience relating to impact investment, development finance will be a key asset.
    The postholder will have demonstrated expertise in the provision of technical assistance (TA) to SMEs and a deep understanding of what makes an SME scale their operations, grow, and succeed.
    You will have excellent communication skills and be willing to work in multicultural and multi-lingual environments as well as demonstrated excellence in report writing, research and analytical ability. Also, you will be highly flexible and be willing to travel in challenging environments.
    In addition to this, you will possess fluent written and spoken English, candidates’ with proficiency in French or Portuguese will be an additional advantage.
    A Masters’ degree in finance, business, food value chain, economics or related field is preferable. You will have excellent project coordination, management, negotiation, and advocacy skills and able to operate within the private and public sectors to effectively liaise with food enterprises and development agencies at senior level.
