    Community & Social Impact Lead – Nature-based Solutions (NbS)

    The Role: 

    The specialist will work closely to ensure that field level gender and social inclusion aspects are adequately addressed. She/he will work on strategies and approaches to ensure greater gender parity and inclusion of marginalized communities in project implementation.

    Key responsibilities: Provides advice and support to management, programmes and projects focusing on achievement of the following results:

    Ensure technical and operational compliance of projects in the NbS portfolio with best in class standards and methodologies for community participation and impact (e.g. Climate Community and Biodiversity Standard, Plan Vivo, etc.).
    Develop frameworks and processes for projects to follow to support strong community engagement, participation, gender-equity, and support their implementation.
    Identify key areas of indicators and activities and to monitor community benefits and social impacts.
    Lead the development of the revenue and benefit sharing mechanisms and governance arrangements with communities across the NbS portfolio.
    Consult with local resource persons knowledgeable about social inclusion and gender relations in the communities. Carrying out a detailed gender and social inclusion analysis, facilitate gender awareness.
    Lead the technical development of community and social components of project documentation, working closing with the Carbon and Social Accounting Team to provide guidance, input and training where needed.
    Support the design and implementation of project activities that address the unique challenges women, youth, and vulnerable groups face in their communities.
    Coordinate gender monitoring and evaluation and establish mechanisms to track the implementation of initiatives.
     Develop process for identifying, documenting, and disseminating gender best practices for learning purposes.

    Knowledge, skills and experience:

    A first (B.A) degree in gender, social sciences or related field is required. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
    At least five (5) years of experience in projects relating to community development, natural resource management, climate change, gender and social impact.
    Experience working with international organizations and Funded projects is preferred.
    Fluency in English is required.
    Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.

    Regional Product Development Manager – Kenya

    Under the guidance and supervision of C-Quest Capital’s Country Director in Kenya, the Product Development Manager will:

    Manage or coordinate management of company trials, focus groups and other forms of feedback for improved cookstoves and other related clean energy technologies in rural, peri-urban and urban market in Kenya.
    Produce reports and other documentation with pertinent feedback, outcomes, and recommendations on cookstove performance, design, fuel usage, cookstove and fuel economics, stakeholder preferences, market insights, and marketing, sales and distribution channels, among other areas of interest.
    Perform market and product research, economic analysis, and other related research in target market segments.
    Work closely with and coordinate related findings and activities with key CQC business units and stakeholders.
    Maintain registry of trials and their findings, and maintain inventory of all trial related products.
    Work closely with CQC Direct and CSAT team to register stoves from trials where acceptance is achieved.
    Coordinate CQC staff site visits to Kenya, in coordination with the Country Manager
    Help advise and oversee other country offices- Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda- with their product development pilots, as needed.
    Manage other special projects that are related to addressing target markets and company ambitions in the region, as directed.

    Supervision: The Product Development Manager reports to Kenya Country Director for administrative workload and day to day planning and reports to the Director of Business Development Planning for technical management.
    Position Requirements:

    University Degree, with a preference for the following fields: Product Management, Market Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Management, Data and Analytics, Statistics
    At least 10 years of experience as a Product Manager, Market Research Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, Project Manager, or Manager of Data, Analytics or Statistics.
    Experience working for a social impact or development organization (business, non-profit, or governmental)
    Experience working directly in rural communities; with preferred experience training and presenting to groups in local languages.
    Experience managing data collection projects.
    Experience organizing, coordinating, and leading stakeholder consultations.
    Hold a current host-country driver’s license.
    Be willing to travel across Kenya.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Fluency in English, both orally and in writing, is required.
    Fluency operating Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook).
    Excellent organization and time management skills.
    Able to multi-task projects and activities.
    Be highly enthusiastic and motivated, able to work both independently and in a team.

    Regional Nature-Based Solutions Programme Manager – East Africa

    The Role:
    CQC is hiring a Nature-based Solutions Programme Manager in Nairobi, to support the growth of our NbS programme within the East Africa region. This new role will drive the early-stage expansion of the NbS programme in the region and be responsible for day-to-day project management of the expanding portfolio. This includes project origination – identifying and proposing new NbS trials, pilots and projects, partner identification -, due diligence and onboarding, and determining key steps to identify relevant methodologies and steps for the development of nature-based removal carbon assets and coordinating with the operations team to ensure smooth delivery of project and integration with cookstove programmes. It will also provide support, coordination and guidance to partners in piloting these programmes in other countries in the region. He/she will report to CQC’s Head of Nature-based Solutions, and work closely with the local operations team and CQC’s Chief Scientist based in Lilongwe, Malawi.
    Core Tasks:
    Under the guidance of CQC’s Head of Nature-based Solutions, the Programme Manager will ensure the day-to-day successful implementation of CQC’s East African NbS portfolio:

    Local managerial oversight and support to development and growth of the NbS programme in East Africa, developing
    Day to day coordination and oversight of on the ground activities, integration and coordination with the cookstoves operations team – ensuring smooth and timely coordination and planning of cookstove implementation within the NbS programme as the programme scales -, daily trouble shooting, raising up issues to Head of NbS.
    Identify resource needs to grow technical expertise and NbS field teams, identifying training needs for existing operations teams and local staff.
    Ensure timely execution of administrative activities for the NbS programme, e.g. external agreements, consultancy contracts, budgeting, finance, reporting.
    Local coordination of activities required for the development and screening of new NbS trials and pilots in the region, including initial due diligence on potential implementing partners and potential methodologies.
    Provide timely coordination with NbS technical staff, the field team, and Head of NbS to support the assessment, and ongoing development, monitoring and reporting for carbon projects in the region.
    Tracking policy and market developments in the region, including engaging in local policy & market discussions and key working groups/events, and keeping finger on the pulse of new developments, trouble shooting.

    Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

    Advanced degree in the field of conservation, ecology, agriculture, forestry or environmental science and management.
    Minimum 7 years’ work experience in project or programme management in sustainable development, agriculture projects, conservation, environmental management, or land management.
    Prior experience in project development and origination for Agriculture, Forestry and Land-Use (AFOLU) is highly desirable.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
    Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with peers, employees and external stakeholders.
    Strong supervisory and leadership skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    A working knowledge of the carbon markets is desirable, but not essential.
    Fluency in a local language is desirable, but not essential.
