    What You Will Do:

    CAPYEI is seeking a Project Coordinator for its project in Kenya. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Coordinator will be based in Kisumu, Kenya. He/she will be responsible for the implementation of activities on the field and provide local contextual technical advice to all project participants.
    The position provides oversight and accountability of project operations and knowledge of the TVET sector and basic education in Kenya. It requires the ability to perform a variety of complex tasks, including project management, human resource management, and related tasks in a fast-paced international office.

    Prepare and submit quarterly programmatic reports in compliance with funder templates and guidelines

    Participate fully as a member in the Project Management Unit
    Serve as the focal point in the Project Management Unit on Kenya Project Operations
    Serve as the main point of contact for all secondary schools and VTCs participating in STEEP

    Education and Experience

    A minimum of degree in Project management, Business related course, community development, political science or education related course
    Over 4 (four) years lead role experience in project management.

    Essential Requirements & Background:

    Minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in social work,education, human rights, social/political sciences, international development, or related fields
    Demonstrated knowledge of the education sector with particular emphasis on competency-based education
    Experience working with government agencies, international organizations, and the education system

    Language Requirements

    Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
    Fluency in spoken Swahili is essential
    Other major languages spoken in Kenya is desirable

    Position Summary:

    Capacity Building of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and Mentee institutions instructors across the counties.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Work with the county governments to ensure acceptability of the BEST model.
    Develop tools to monitor and evaluate the impact of capacity building initiative.
    Champion for effective implementation and delivery of CBET/BEST model aspects in the CoEs and Mentee Institutions.

    Coordinate training activities including organizing and planning training workshops logistics.
    Visit various CoEs and Mentee Institutions to assess implementation progress.
    Provide hands on training to the CoEs and Mentee Institutions instructors in essential and workplace related soft skills curriculum delivery the CBET/BEST way.
    Collect evidence of CAPYEI capacity building implementation by the CoEs and Mentee institutions
    conduct and/or lead capacity development needs analysis for trainees to determine learning outcomes needed for trainee’s success and collect information about target beneficiaries
    Develop and implement methods to monitor and evaluate the results of capacity building programs and capacity building initiatives.
    Devise ways of making the capacity building initiative sustainable and reliant

    Job Duties 

    Content Development Duties:

    CAP YEI will share with the trainers the 5 course outlines offered
    Conduct an initial review of existing Curriculum, and Syllabi that will aid in developing the content of the HSE training materials.
    Develop, Design and customize a unified competency-based curriculum for the HSE trade that shall remain copyright of CAP YEI. The curriculum targets the non-formal TVET framework aligned to the CAP YEI Vocational qualification Framework. The curriculum should also identify qualification standards, assessment requirements and recommendations to contribute to national TVET curriculum, and should be gender sensitive.
    Ability to bespoke courses to CAP YEI’s requirements – a bit of initiative is required
    Develop a cover note for the event for each of the modules
    Preparing all paperwork and handouts for training events
    Proof-read the printed copies of the syllabus.
    Update materials as dictated by changes in regulations and/or programs. Incorporates measurement and assessment tools to support all training.
    Submit a final report for the consultancy recommending a unified curriculum framework for CAP YEI HSE training. This should outline clear modalities for developing such a unified curriculum and prime stakeholders.

    HSE Training Duties:

    Delivers and facilitates structured safety and regulatory training and development programs and initiatives in support of the CAP YEI’s training plan, objectives and brand essence. Training sessions will include classroom (40%) and demonstrative (hands-on) curriculum (60%).
    Develop PowerPoint presentations of the training session content including applied methods, best practices related to the topics to be agreed upon in the simplest language possible.
    Develop the schedule for the training.
    Plan, coordinate and moderate the training.
    Develop a daily evaluation sheet.
    Incorporation of the feedback received during the HSE training to the manual and share it with CAP YEI as the final tested draft.
    A final exit report including the training content, as well as the evaluation of 
    the training, conclusions and recommendations based on lessons learned for future intervention.
    Provides coaching, reinforcement of safety policy and procedures in cooperation with EHS to Team Members throughout the training centers.
    Performs administrative duties to track completion of training, scheduling of classes and resources, compile and prepare statistical information on training program status.
    You will be doing whatever you can to make sure that all of the training courses that you lead are done so to the absolute best of your ability, and in line with the high standards as set by CAP YEI.
    Taking photos of all trainees on a digital camera / phone and emailing them to our administration department in the specified format in a timely manner.
    Passing on any administration enquiries to CAP YEI administration team.

    Qualifications:
    The firm or individuals must provide evidence of having 3 trainers as follows;

    First aid trainers should be qualified emergency medical technicians, nurses, clinical officers or medical doctors.
    Occupational Safety and Health trainers should have a postgraduate certificate in OSH lasting not less than six months from a recognized institution.
    Fire Safety trainers should have certificate in fire engineering or safety lasting at least six months from a recognized institution.
    The firm or individuals must have conducted similar assignments with those engaged in digitization of HSE Curriculum having an added advantage.

    The GIZ – EU “Go Blue” Project_ Skills Development (TVET) Project is a component of Blue Economy executed by GIZ-E4D through its implementing partner CAPYEI. The project focuses in skills development in predetermined sectors as wells as exploring the value chain opportunities. The linkages between the blue economy, sustainable development and economic growth in recognizing 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. SDG focuses on enhancing the economic benefits to Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) from the sustainable use of marine resources, including through the sustainable management of fisheries, aquaculture, and tourism. The blue economy integrates an innovative approach to the economic exploitation of the resources of oceans, lakes, rivers and other bodies of water. The concept seeks to promote economic growth, social inclusion, and preservation or improvement of livelihoods while at the same time ensuring environmental sustainability.
    The overall purpose of the assignment is to digitize 5 curricula namely;

    Expected Results
    The overall purpose of this assignment is to digitize (produce relevant audio, images and video) of the curricula. Specific objectives of the assignment include:

    Design and produce multimedia content
    Pretest digital content with group of learners and Trainers.
    Deploy the approved content.

    Description of the Assignment
    The consultant will be required to carry out the following tasks:

    Assess the developed by the sector experts in liaison education experts and provide technical guidance on the most appropriate digital formats to adopt. Note that, the multimedia learning approach with a mixture of video, text, audio and imagers are most preferred in this task.
    Present to CAP YEI team the outcome of the assessment of the curriculum and modules, indicating the topics that will be digitized and the reasons for the choice.
    Carry out the digitization of selected topics, presenting them in different graphics
    Share the first draft of the work done for review and comments on its improvement
    Submit final edited digital content of the curricula to CAP YEI

    Location and Duration
    The consulting firm can come from any part of Kenya, but be able to travel to the Coast Region for face to face recording of practical and lectures. The project is projected to be completed within 1 month.
    Qualification requirements

    Institutions, or organizations that are working on video productions, and good experience in education materials development, designing and production.
    The firm expressing interest for this work should demonstrate capacity in conducting similar activity and evidence of work that it has done before.
