    Responsibilities:

    Perform wound assessment, reassessment, and wound management for all patients.

    Develops skin care programs to prevent skin breakouts for patients.
    Revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan of effectiveness.
    Utilize appropriate pain management techniques, educates the patient and family regarding pain management
    Provides education to patients undergoing surgery that result in an ostomy. Provide pre and post operating assessments and patient/family education
    Knowledgeable of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and clinical condition.
    Is a resource person to physicians, nursing and other hospital staff. Provides in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care and incontinence for the nursing staff
    Communicates appropriately and clearly to nurse managers, nursing staff and physicians
    Consults other healthcare professionals/departments as appropriate to provide interdisciplinary approach to patient’s needs.
    Attends seminars, conferences, continuing education classes in the areas of wound prevention, wound management and ostomies. Participates in professional societies and stays current with changes, new advancement/treatments in wound care.
    Knowledgeable of clinical products currently available on the market, evaluates the products and makes recommendations.
    Document all assessment data, investigation results, care given, discussions with the multi-disciplinary team, family/patient interactions in an accurate, comprehensive, and timely manner.
    Perform pain assessment and reassessment, and initiate analgesia as per protocol
    Promptly report both clinical and non-clinical unusual findings/incidences to the nurse manager, team leader or physician
    Identify patient and family education needs and implement appropriate teaching
    Be able to recognize a patient in a pre- arrest or arrest states, and to initiate Basic Life Support
    Provide safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies.

    Requirements:

    KRCHN /BScN from a recognized school of Nursing or University
    Current Licensure with the Nursing council of Kenya
    Certificate in Basic life support (BLS)
    Certificate in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) preferred
    Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in an acute care hospital.
    Demonstrate evidence-based knowledge of current practices in Medical-Surgical nursing

    Responsibilities
    Administration

    Responsible for processing of tickets, travel requirements and all travel related documents for Senior leadership, Faculty, staff, and incoming guests.  
    Work in close coordination with the vendors and Head of Department (HOD) to ensure that services are provided promptly to the AKU faculty including emergency and last-minute travel request and that the services provided by vendors are as per the existing agreement.
    Complaints handling:  Logging of complaints to be done as and when received using existing internal systems. 
    Coordinate airport transfers and ground transportation for staff and guests with dispatch department and other AKU entities
    Extend support to all incoming guests by issuing letters of invitation and any other required documents

    Immigration

    Handle and process all immigration documents for Senior Leadership, Faculty and staff and their dependants as necessary. Process students and internship passes. This service is extended to Aga Khan University, Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu and Aga Khan Hospital Mombasa.
    Work in close collaboration with Travel & Housing Associate and HOD for processing applications of work permits, special passes, dependants and pupil’s passes and any other legal document required and as per the immigration requirements and AKDN protocols to ensure that all expats always have a legal status.
    Offer any immigration related guidance to staff of AKU and AKUH, N entities.
    Provide continuous immigration updates to all staff

    Accommodation/Conferences

    Manage hotel bookings, conferences and logistics for Aga Khan Senior Leadership, Faculty, visiting guests and all staff.  Ensure all requests have an approved accommodation form before initiating any process.
    Handling and organizing group bookings and logistics in liaison with the requesting department, accredited hotels, travel agents.
    Coordinating airport transfers and ground transportation for all staff traveling
    Extend any accommodation related guidance to Senior Leadership, Faculty and staff.

    Management of guest-houses and house-keepers.

    Handling accommodation requests and bookings for the guest houses
    Manage the guesthouse to ensure timely payment for utility bills i.e., water and electricity, TV and Internet.
    Ensuring that guests are well taken of care and extending good hospitality i.e., checking on guests, organizing their meals etc.
    Supervising the maintenance, general cleanliness, and security of the facilities & property.
    Supervising the housekeeping staff attendants.

    Medical insurance

    Work closely with HOD for administration of international medical insurance to expatriate staff
    Assist HOD to process yearly premium fee.  Making follow up with finance to ensure that payments are made in good time.

    Manage Multiple Journey Visas (MJVs) for Senior Leadership, Faculty, and all staff /dependents of AKU and AKUHN

    Building relationships with Consulates/embassies for their support on visa processing.
    Processing visa letters and documents for staff travelling on official duties/medical purposes or personal visits.
    Submission of visa applications in various embassies and high commissions and fast tracking of the same. 
    Offer any visa related guidance to staff.

    Handle and organise travel insurance for Senior Leadership, Faculty, and staff

    Ensure travel insurance covers are issued for staff travelling on official purposes when travelling outside of Kenya

    Stock Items

    Ensuring that both the Travel and Housing office and the guest houses have the required adequate stock items for smooth operation by monitoring consumption and re-order levels.  Supervision on consumption for optimum usage. 
    Maintain a schedule of usage and provide monthly report to HOD

    Protocol

    Handling meet and assist services for Senior Leadership, Faculty and other incoming guests and staff and ensure that guests are met by the Protocol Officer
    Coordinating with transport department to ensure timely pick up of guest after protocol services

    Housing Services

    Assist in sourcing for housing for new expatriates in collaboration with HOD
    Facilitating city and housing tours for guests and expatriate staff.
    Coordination with the Legal department for execution of leases  

    Qualifications and skills required

    Job Summary
    This position is required to provide planning, coordination and implementation of research activities for the AIMIX research project as well as supervision of research staff for the project. The AIMIX project (Inclusive Artificial Intelligence for Accessible Medical Imaging Across Resource-Limited Settings) is a research project that aims to develop artificial intelligence aided pregnancy screening using low-cost fetal ultrasound. The study is being conducted as a collaboration between the Aga Khan University, The Kilifi County Department of Health, University of Barcelona and other institutions.
    The clinical component of the AIMIX study will involve recruitment of research participants for a series of ultrasound studies using standard and low cost ultrasound devices. Participants will also be followed up to assess pregnancy outcomes. The study will also involve extraction of ultrasound images and clinical data from hospital databases for use in the study.
    The Research Specialist will also be expected to contribute scientifically to the research with a focus on social behavioral research alongside the clinical aspects of the project. This component of the study is expected to improve the project as well as to contribute academic outputs towards a PhD thesis and qualification.
    The position is based at the study research sites – public health facilities in Kilifi county. The role will include local travel to other study sites (Aga Khan University, Nairobi) as well as international travel to partnering institutions.
    Responsibilities
    Study / Project Coordination

    Facilitate the planning process for study, launch and implementation in liaison with the project team
    Coordinate the implementation of research activities under the supervision of the PI. This will entail but not be limited to:
    Mobilization, recruitment and consenting of study participants, while working closely with the relevant government officials and community representatives at the study sites

    Recruitment and Training

    Support recruitment of data collectors & other members of the research team
    Training of data collectors and other members of the research team in: Informed consent, data collection, administration of study tools, performance of study clinical procedures and follow-up of participants

    Data Management

    Reporting

    Qualifications

    Qualifications, Experience, and skills required:

    Must be computer literate with excellent communicatIon and interpersonal skills, very good analytical and organisational skills. 
    Must be registered and/or eligible for registration with the Association of Medical Engineers of Kenya and/or Engineering Board of Kenya.

    Adjust therapies (e.g. Ventilation, temperature control devices, fluid flow rates etc.) as directed by the anesthesiologist.
    In liaison with the circulating nurse, provide diagnostic data for the anesthesiologist by performing random blood sugar sampling and arterial blood gas sampling as requested.
    Arrange for transportation of emergency blood samples to the lab and collection of blood products from the blood bank.
    Assist at anesthetic emergency by performing duties such as aspirating secretions from the trachea and pharynx, deflating airways cuffs, and provide emergency airway equipment. Remove monitoring equipment after surgery.
    Assist with the transfer of post operative patients to the Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) under the direction of the anesthesiologist, surgeon and nurse.
    Assist with the transfer of ventilation and/or anesthetized patient to the intensive care or high dependency unit under the direction of the anesthesiologist, surgeon and nurse.

    Requirements:

    Diploma/ Equivalent Required or Completion of Anesthesia Assistant Course
    In service Course on Basic Nursing skills and Anesthesia
    Certificate in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Theatre is preferred

The position holder will be responsible for providing quality and safe healthcare services to patients while adhering to relevant evidence based practices as well as the hospitals’ policies and procedures in order to meet treatment goals.
    Responsibilities:

    Review and examine patients consistently by performing such duties as taking case histories, conducting physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic laboratory and radiology studies in compliance with evidence based practice and established protocols.
    Monitor acute and chronically ill patients’ progress on a regular basis.
    Initiate discussions with patients and care givers to enable better diagnostic and therapeutic medical care and services.
    When necessary, carry out privileged and potentially life-saving emergency surgical and medical procedures.
    Provide evidence based screening and wellness examinations, risk assessment, early detection and education on prevention of illness.
    Initiate timely discussions with relevant consultants/departments to arrive at the best treatment plan for specialized cases.
    Establish links with clinic management and the main hospital to ensure smooth and efficient referral of patients.
    Work closely with members of the clinical and non-clinical teams to provide patient centric, coordinated care, reduce errors and waste and create efficiency in resource utilization.
    Actively participate in clinic quality initiatives in collaboration with the clinic management and Quality and Patient Safety team.

    Requirements:

    Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent
    Successful completion of at least 2-years post-graduate Internship.
    Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
    Advance Cardiac Life Support and Advance Trauma Life Support (ACLS & ATLS)
