    What you’ll do
    As a rapidly growing non-profit, Jacaranda’s human resource needs are constantly evolving.
    We’re looking for someone who can think strategically and perform a variety of technical, administrative and supervisory duties related to personnel operations, employee relations and employee benefits.
    Job responsibilities

    Advises leadership on developing regulatory requirements and evaluation on implication of such regulations on the organization;
    Manages the employment policies to assure compliance of all labour regulations. Provides counsel to leadership on policies and practices regarding employment issues;
    Manages the benefit plans, including medical insurance, life insurance, pension, workers’ compensation, paid time off and leave policies, and makes policy recommendations designed to meet organizational objectives;
    Prepares reports, and communication activities including newsletters, booklets, and brochures intended to educate staff regarding personnel policies and features of benefit programs;
    Completes and files applicable documents for labour regulation, NSSF, NHIF and reports on employment and benefit plans;
    Coordinates with designated agencies to lead procurement process for expatriate visas;
    Facilitates the employment process and acquisition of personnel. Directs the organizations recruitment and retention efforts. Develops strategy for recruitment of new employees;
    Processes pertinent employee documents and files including personnel action forms, employment requisitions, leaves of absence and termination notices;
    Provides information to employees regarding interpretation and explanation of regulations, labor contracts, and personnel policies and procedures;
    Evaluates and recommends systems that would increase the operating efficiency of the personnel and benefit functions of the organization;
    Investigates causes of disputes and grievances and recommends corrective action;
    Hires, orients and evaluates personnel in assigned area alongside line managers;
    Ensures that all Accreditation and Licensing Regulations are compiled with and enforced;
    Responsible for the preparation and compliance of the annual (HR) budget;
    Performs other job-related duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

    What you need to know/have

    Clinical Helpdesk Agent

    Expectations and responsibilities
    The clinical helpdesk agent will report directly to the Senior M&E Coordinator.
    Goals

    Provide clients with accurate health information in clear, concise language
    Support timely and effective referrals to health facilities
    Ensure clients have a positive experience when interacting with the Jacaranda Q&A platform

    Expectations

    Work in collaboration with the client success and PROMPTS teams to respond to the 500+ questions each day from users via SMS (possibly other channels such as Facebook and Telegram as well) that may need a nursing input
    Ensure sure all questions are responded to within 1 hour (high priority questions) or 4 hours (lower priority questions) during working hours with possibility of overtime and weekends
    Continuously update Q&A database as applicable and alert a supervisor if the messaging platform or FreshDesk stops functioning
    Support when a medical response is needed and elevate as necessary –Seek advanced medical input from other team medical professionals (nurse mentors, ObGyn) when appropriate
    Refer clients to the appropriate partner organization for specific issues (mental health, miscarriage/loss, abuse, etc)
    Follow-up on clients with danger signs via phone and use a referral SOP to connect them to care in a timely and quality manner
    Understand clients’ perspectives and feedback on the services they have received and communicate insights to the Q&A team
    Report regularly to supervisor on message and call metrics, questions contents, answers provided, lessons learnt, successes, challenges, solutions provided and recommendations on how to improve the Q&A.
    Send a weekly report to the supervisor which may include a spreadsheet showing week’s progress
    Send a monthly report latest by 30th/31st on the month’s progress, questions answered, lessons learnt, successes, challenges, solutions provided and recommendations on how to improve the Q&A.
    Train new agents as needed
    Coordinate with other nurses in Jacaranda Health and its programs to make sure clients have positive experiences.

    Requirements

    Hold a diploma or degree in nursing from a recognized university/(medical training) college
    Have at least 3 years’ experience working as a nurse with RH training
    Hold an active Nursing license from the local Nursing Council.

    Basic skills in neonatal/pediatrics nursing an added advantage

    Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili; ability to translate written answers between these two languages
    Typing skills and willingness to improve typing skills

    Pass an online typing test. If typing skills require improvement, practice typing speed and accuracy using an online typing training system for 30 minutes per day, reporting progress to supervisor on a weekly basis until adequate speed and accuracy has been reached

    What You Will Do

    Develop comprehensive clinical induction programs, review and update them regularly
    Be directly involved in nursing practice by providing patient care in the wards

    Business Purpose / Objective: Driver’s role is responsible for the operation of the JHSL vehicle to ensure that personnel and equipment is transported to and from the advised sites promptly. The driver doubles up as a messenger with duties highlighted below.
    Duties and Responsibilities
    Driver

    Ensuring the company vehicle is driven carefully always, not endangering the lives of the occupants and/or other road users, kept clean (both inside and outside) at all times.
    Observe traffic rules at all times as well as road courtesy.
    Ensure the vehicle is in good condition by constantly checking the tires pressure, engine oil, water etc. All anomalies should be reported to the relevant manager to ensure the matter is addressed.
    Maintain the driver log book register on all trips made and ensure all trips are authorized.
    Maintain a physical and electronic inventory for verification of all car related expenses such as fuel refills, repair expenses, interiors and car service trips.
    Report daily to the Operations Lead for all car related questions.

    Ask for help if a medical response is needed (and not in the existing database) from a medical professional. Do not guess about medical information.
    Refer clients to the appropriate partner organization for specific issues (mental health, miscarriage/loss, abuse, etc)
    Understand clients’ perspectives and feedback on the services they have received and communicate insights to the Q&A team.
    If the person has scored “Slow” on the online typing test, he/she will be expected to spend 30 minutes per day using an online typing training system. Progress reports should be shared with the supervisor on a weekly basis.
     Report daily to the supervisor on number of questions answered and any possible challenge that needs to be addressed.

  • Nurse Mentor & Educator

    Nurse Mentor & Educator

    Job Summary: Jacaranda Health is expanding its mentorship program in Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) to new counties in Kenya. This is an on-site mentoring approach, where our team of nurse mentors led continuous medical education (CME) sessions, one-on-one mentorship, skills trainings, and simulation drills for emergencies, leading to a significant and sustainedimprovement EmONC knowledge and skills. Our team will work with county health administrators to adapt the current model for the county context.
    Under the supervision of the Program Management Team, the Nurse Mentor & Educator will be responsible for oversight and execution of the county-specific mentorship program in the field.
    Primary Responsibilities

    Works as a self-driven individual who is passionate about maternal health
    Conducts facility-based CMEs, drills, and other methods of learning
    Facilitates Quality Improvement initiatives where applicable and tracks data
    Conducts performance improvement programs based on learning needs of the staff.
    Performs nursing practice by providing direct patient care where appropriate
    Maintains the highest standards of professionalism and represents Jacaranda as an organization dedicated to ending maternal/neonatal deaths and morbidities

    Requirements

    Strong Knowledge of EmONC principles and experience handling emergencies
