    The APHRC seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to work in the Urbanization and Wellbeing in Africa Unit within the Research Division.
    Responsibilities

    Work with the team to ensure successful implementation of the assigned projects;
    Oversee/lead development of field and training manuals;
    Oversee the review and translation of research tools;
    Oversee fieldwork of the proposed research projects to ensure timely
    implementation of field activities;
    Support proposal writing and other fund raising activities within the unit;
    Ensure ethical approvals and research permits are obtained;
    Oversee data cleaning and analyses;
    Lead and contribute to scientific paper writing;
    Lead the development of project reports;
    Participate in dissemination of research findings and policy dialogue with appropriate audiences;
    Monitor project budgets and expenditure;
    Prepare project progress reports;
    Lead and contribute to proposal development and fundraising for research projects in the program;
    Mentor junior researchers and facilitate in the Center’s training programs as needed; and
    Represent the Center at high level national, regional and international forums, including relevant technical working groups and expert committees.

    Qualifications and Experience

    PhD in Public/Environmental Health, Community Health, or any related field with a specialization/focus on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in Africa.
    At least one year’s post-doctoral experience conducting research on WASH in Africa.
    Demonstrated experience in managing research projects.
    Skills in quantitative and qualitative methods including experience in data analysis with familiarity in data analysis software.
    Strong writing skills and evidence of peer reviewed publications in the subject matter/area of focus.
    Ability to work independently.
    Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to work independently in a team.

    Responsibilities

    Provide support to project staff by ensuring cost effective utilization of resources;
    Monitor project expenditure to ensure they are in line with donors’ agreements. Prepare donor financial reports;
    Monitor projects expenditure against the budgets and provide frequent feedback to the project managers and project staff on budget matters;
    Review field imprest / staff travel advance to ensure adherence to set procedures;
    Review partner institutions’ expenditure accounting and prepare funds disbursements;
    Participate in proposal development preparing budgets and other administrative sections;
    Prepare for project audits by continuously reviewing accounts for accuracy and provide support to auditors during project financial audits;
    Process payments and funds transfer; and
    Ensure proper records management and compliance with internal and external requirements.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
    Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA III) or Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) equivalent.
    At least 3 years’ experience working in an international NGO.
    Proficiency in Navision (MS Dynamics).
    Ability to work independently, set priorities, juggle tasks and meet strict deadlines.
    Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to follow assignments through to completion.

    Carry out a detailed analysis of the qualitative data collected using appropriate analysis tools such as NVivo or Dedoose.
    Develop qualitative analysis report that includes a description of results in terms of themes and sub-themes, including but not limited to quotations, examining relationships and patterns between categories and themes, discussion of results, and annex for the final codebook.
    Contribute to the writing of qualitative methods sections for reports or other publications.
    Ensuring the daily upload of the complete data.

    Qualifications and competencies

    Responsibilities

    Contribute to various stakeholder engagement activities such as inception meetings and policy engagement in Kenya;

    Proven quantitative skills, with familiarity with related analysis packages STATA, SPSS, R.
    Experience analysing routine health facility data (DHIS2) and national health surveys (DHS, MICS, SMART, PMA, SPA).
    Experience conducting field research and managing data collection teams.
    Experience in engaging policy makers and key stakeholders with research evidence.

    The intern will support the enhancement of the Network’s visual identity through the development of innovative multimedia assets for our website, social media platforms and print products that are specific to Data Science and Evaluation projects within INSPIRE.

    Support production of video content for the website and social media platforms (pre-production, recording, and editing);
    Designing posters, flyers and infographics;
    Updating content on INSPIRE’s website;
    Manage digital archive and maintain an organized file-management system of images and video clips; and
    Assist with production of Monthly e-newsletter with partners.

    Qualifications and competencies:

    At an advanced stage of their degree program in Communications, Journalism, Film Production, Public Relations or any other related field. Diploma level candidates will also be considered.
    Strong proficiency in the Adobe Suite (particularly Premiere Pro, InDesign/ illustrator) or an equivalent.
    Demonstrated experience in graphic design, video production and photography.

    Additional information:

    APHRC seeks to recruit a Project Officer for its Research Capacity Strengthening Division to support with the partnership coordination component for key projects in the division.
    Responsibilities:

    Coordinate and monitor the implementation of the activities for the projects, in liaison with the Program Managers;
    Coordinate project meetings with various stakeholders, including partners and funders meetings, including compiling the meeting deliberations/minutes;
    Make follow-up with project partners on implementation and progress on specific project deliverables;

    Job Description
    APHRC seeks a Monitoring, Evaluation and Research (MER) Officer who will support the corporate Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) function. S/he will also support an upcoming project on scaling sexual and reproductive health (SRH) solutions, where the Center will be providing Monitoring and Evaluation oversight and conducting policy implementation reviews and situational analysis.
    Key Responsibilities
    Corporate Monitoring and Evaluation

    Conduct routine data collection and entry for the Strategic Plan indicators;
    Ensure complete, accurate, clean and consistent data is collected, shared for analysis, and reporting;
    Support the development of quarterly and annual monitoring and evaluation performance review reports;
    Continuously enter data to ensure that data in the corporate M&E Platform (DHIS2) is up to date, analyze and aggregate the progress on data visualizations;
    Support in the development and maintenance of the M&E platform;
    Ensure proper filing of M&E documents including questionnaires, monitoring reports, datasets among others;
    Participate in regular data verification and quality assessment exercises to assess the quality of data reported and address any anomalies identified; and
    With guidance from the M&E Officer, support capacity-building activities for staff when needed.

    Scaling Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) Solutions project
    The MER Officer will work closely with the M&E Specialist and M&E Officer to achieve project deliverables. S/he will:

    Conduct data collection and reporting using monitoring tools to track project indicators as per the project M&E framework;
    Support in the development of the monthly project progress reports towards the achievement of project objectives;
    Support the project team in the preliminary literature reviews and quantitative and qualitative analysis of data as needed;
    Assist and support fieldwork activities for the project such as data collection, managing system arising issues, security and workflow, linking questionnaires and providing offline support;
    Support the secondary data collection activities; and
    Support the M&E officer in other day-to-day M&E tasks that may arise.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Public Health, Monitoring and Evaluation, Epidemiology or other relevant fields.
    2 -4 years of relevant working experience in field-level data collection of quantitative and qualitative data for M&E, DQAs, health facility assessment and/or research.
    Competencies in using computer packages including MS Word and Excel.
    Demonstrated experience in conducting quality checks during quantitative and qualitative data collection and data entry using electronic tools.
    Demonstrated experience and knowledge in quantitative and qualitative data cleaning and analysis and in drafting reports of M&E and research results.

    Preferred demonstrable skills

    Experience in monitoring and evaluation concepts and tools.
    Ability to interpret data and explain findings to non-technical audiences.
    Experience with DHIS2 platform and mobile data collection software.
    Demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks and produce reports on time; ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team environment.
    Ability to work independently, virtually and communicate efficiently using virtual platforms. The present working environment requires most of the work to be conducted virtually.
