The News department is a fast paced environment and having a sixth sense for news will give even inexperienced journalists an upper hand in this competitive career.
    The Line Producer – Sports is responsible for the oversight of live, daily newscasts or other live or pre-taped programs.
    Responsibilities and Duties

    Setting up the rundowns of the weekly sports magazine show Match point;
    Deputizing to manage the sports desk;
    Monitoring content of the daily sports segment in the Africa Live shows;
    Travel for reporting or supervising of sports tournaments happening on the continent – On merit
    Participate in editorial meetings by offering unique story ideas
    Manage writers to produce accurate and relevant stories, while coaching and mentoring them as needed
    Assist guest bookers with generating guest ideas for segments as needed or assigned
    Collaborate with the entire news production team to ensure new coverage is compelling and accurate

    Educational Background and Experience

    Bachelor’s Degree or above required in communications and/or journalism.
    Minimum of five years’ hands-on experience in television production.
    Have a passion for local and world news and must be good at identifying and telling compelling stories.
    Be able to organize reports from different perspectives within a short period of time.
    Be a polished professional with excellent communication skills.
    Have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

    Skills / Qualifications Required

    Sound editorial judgment
    Must demonstrate good writing skills
    Must be able to multitask
    Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
    Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced newsroom environment strongly preferred

    To assist in conceptualization of ideas, research and to supervise the ‘Big Story’ Documentary production.
    To co-ordinate and liaise with the service providers on behalf of CGTN.
    To oversee the entire pre and post Production process of the documentary till completion to ensure that CGTN policies and guidelines are adhered to.
    Should be able to conduct in-depth research at pre-production level on the story ideas and assist in making selections from the submitted list of stories.
    Ability to oversee and determine the scripting of the documentary.
    Ability to archive and a catalogue programmes and footage for easy future reference

    Educational Background And Experience

    Bachelors/Diploma in Film and Documentary production
    At least 3 years’ experience in Documentary production
    Experience in producing documentaries or short feature stories.
    Conversant and familiar with the latest editing software.
    Have strong skills in reviewing story rough cuts with a keen eye to spot video and audio anomalies.
    Well conversant with the international Documentary production industry
    Aware of the current Documentary and film market trends

    Skills/ Qualifications Required

    Abreast with news and current affairs with vast knowledge of African Countries
    Knowledge in Multi-camera directing and the entire broadcast chain
    Team leading abilities as well as being a team player
    Must be completely fluent in written and spoken English
    Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
    Creative mind and receptive to new ideas
    Ability to work under pressure
    Good planner and organizer
    Possess a keen eye for detail
    Must be available to work holidays, shifts that include late evenings and weekends

    Job description
    Manage CCTV Africa’s Digital Media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the website. Ensure that all accounts have content that’s compelling and timely.
    Coordinate with the TV planning teams ensuring that the Digital Media Team is participating in all relevant editorial coverage.
    Pitch compelling stories that CCTV Africa’ audiences will want to share online.
    Collaborate with TV reporters and correspondents in the field, building relationships and ensuring content relevant for digital platforms is consistently provided for the Digital Media Team.
    Ensure that breaking news and focused big news events are tweeted live and updates on CCTV Africa’ssocial media platforms in real time
    Push the promotion of CCTV Africa’s programs on social media, including, Global Biz, Match Point, Talk Africa, Faces of Africa and any major special series coverage.
    Keep track of the emerging and trending stories across Africa on social media and ensure that CCTV Africa is covering them.
    Develop discussion on central African stories and issues on Social Media platforms. Thereby promoting CCTV Africa as the “go-to” source for African opinion.
    Collect feedback regarding CCTV news from our audiences and conduct polls or surveys to understand our viewers’ key concerns.
