    Job Summary

    Key Responsibilities

    Install new equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating, and testing performance and ensuring evaluation are done.
    Maintains inventory of all equipment/ analyzers
    Evaluating the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of equipment.
    Provides technical support for equipment.
    Participates in the maintenance and servicing of equipment’s/analyzers
    Reports research findings through oral presentation and formal documents in accordance to standard operating procedures.
    Demonstrates and explains correct operation of equipment to users.
    Works with application group to develop scheduled maintenance program to maintain the integrity of equipment’s/analyzers.
    Documents information by maintaining and reviewing daily logs and equipment records
    Resolves problems by examining and evaluating technical problems and selecting corrective steps.
    Maintains safe and healthy working environment by recommending and complying with procedures; training and guiding departmental colleagues; complying with codes with assistance from Health and Safety team.
    Ensures effective and efficient use of resources e.g. consumables etc.
    Assists and provides training to staff on unit systems and processes to a knowledge level relevant to their position.
    Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading publications.
    Takes care of own safety and that of other colleagues and clients
    Always adheres to safe working practices.

    Qualifications

    For appointment to this post, a candidate must have.

    Minimum qualification required for this post is BSc in Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent
    Should be Registered with Association of Medical Engineers of Kenya.

    About the Role:

    F4E is expanding rapidly to reach more schools across Kenya. The Community Associate plays a pivotal role in driving the growth of F4E in new schools and communities across Kenya. You will own relationships with key stakeholders, including head teachers, Board of Management (BoM) members, sub-county government officials, and other relevant local stakeholders. You will work closely with the operations team to ensure efficient use of kitchen capacity, manage new school launches, and support the development of F4E-community projects. This role requires a strategic thinker, relationship-builder, and proactive problem-solver committed to improving school feeding programs in underserved areas.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Stakeholder Relationship Management:

    Cultivate and maintain strong relationship metrics with the sub-county stakeholders such as the Sub-County Director of Education, Teachers Service Commission, Sub-County Quality Assurance Officers, OCPDs and police commandant, the area chief, office of the member of parliament, public health offices,  and any other key sub-county stakeholders, to ensure smooth operations for F4E’s entry into new regions while observing timelines, and key deliverables.
    Build and nurture relationships with key government officials at the Sub-county levels to increase awareness and support for F4E’s mission and initiatives.

    Growth  and Capacity Management:

    Work closely with the operations team to identify and allocate spare kitchen capacity to new schools, ensuring efficient and timely scaling of services.
    Develop and maintain a pipeline of high-potential schools to be served as kitchen capacity becomes available.
    Oversee the logistical and operational aspects of launching F4E’s services in new regions, ensuring successful implementation.

    Project and Partnership Development:

    Lead the launch of new F4E-community projects aimed at enhancing the well-being of students and promoting community engagement.
    Identify and support new market surveys and research efforts to assess growth opportunities in targeted counties and sub-counties.
    Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate potential school partnerships and ensure F4E’s solutions meet the specific needs of local communities.

    Policy & Advocacy Support:

    Contribute to the delivery of the Policy & Partnerships strategy, focusing on local government relations at the Sub-county and County levels.
    Advocate for increased support for F4E’s initiatives through strategic engagement with government officials, local leaders, and other key decision-makers.
    Help in enforcing regulatory compliance within the communities and schools that we operate in.

    Key Qualifications:

    Education: A bachelor’s degree or a diploma in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. 
    Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in community engagement, stakeholder management, or public sector relations, preferably in the education, development, or NGO sectors.

    Skills:

    Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, school administrators, and community leaders.
    Strong project management skills with experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.

    Supply Chain Information Systems Management: (50%)

    Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of health supply chain information systems, ensuring alignment with the requirements and priorities of the Kenya Ministry of Health (MoH).
    Facilitate the application of USAID’s Supply Chain Information System Maturity Model (SCIMM) to help the Kenya MoH evaluate their supply chain systems’ capabilities and co-create a strategy to reach Level 3 maturity within the project period.

    Work with the Research, Evidence and Learning (REL) team to design and manage data collection systems, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data inputs from various sources (e.g. health facility reports, KEMSA, and MEDS etc.)
    Communicate complex data insights in a clear and concise manner in a variety of formats, including dashboards, reports, presentations etc. to project stakeholders, donors, and government counterparts, incorporating data storytelling best practices
    Provide technical guidance and capacity building support to project and government staff on data analytics tools, techniques, and data review and data use best practices

    What you will do

    Demonstrated experience in managing research teams and partnerships.

    Objective of the assignment

    The consultancy task is to analyze the census data and document the findings in a comprehensive report. The consultant shall analyze data in table formats, and submit the final report. The analyst should understand the desired goal of the project driving the findings towards it. The objectives of the census are driven under:

    Assessing latrine Conditions: The primary objective is to gather comprehensive data on the current state of latrines in the integrated settlement and refugee camp population. This includes assessing the type of latrines, their conditions, and any vulnerabilities or deficiencies.
    Identifying latrines-related Needs: Understand the specific needs and challenges related to access to latrines in the refugee camps. This involves identifying issues such as inadequate access, barriers to construction of basic household latrines and other factors affecting the quality of latrine.
    Quantifying the Population: Enumerate and categorize the population having access to the different types of latrines. This information is crucial for resource allocation, as it helps in estimating the scale of interventions required to address the access to latrine for the refugees.
    Creating Baseline Data: Establish a baseline for monitoring and evaluation purposes. This baseline data serves as a reference point for future assessments, allowing for the measurement of changes and the impact of interventions over time.
    Enhancing Resource Allocation: Enable efficient allocation of resources by identifying priority areas and populations with the greatest access to latrine needs. This ensures that interventions are targeted and resources are utilized effectively.
    Supporting Advocacy Efforts: Generate evidence for advocacy initiatives aimed at raising awareness and garnering support for policies and funding related to latrine issues. The data collected can be used to build a compelling case for improved living conditions.
    Ensuring Accountability: Establish accountability mechanisms by providing transparent and evidence-based information to stakeholders, including donors, governmental agencies, and the community itself.

    Scope of the work

    Data Cleaning and Validation: Review and clean the collected latrines census data to ensure accuracy and consistency. Validate the data for completeness, identifying and addressing any missing or inconsistent information.
    Data Analysis: Conduct statistical analysis of latrine census data to derive meaningful insights and trends.
    Utilize appropriate statistical tools and methods to analyze demographic information, latrines conditions, and other relevant variables.
    Descriptive Analysis: Generate descriptive statistics to provide a comprehensive overview of the latrines related characteristics within the surveyed population. Summarize key findings, including averages, distributions, and patterns.
    Mapping and Visualization: Create maps and visual representations of the latrines census data to facilitate a better understanding of spatial patterns and distribution of latrines-related indicators. Use Geographic Information System (GIS) tools if applicable.
    Identifying Key Challenges and Opportunities: Highlight key challenges and opportunities based on the analysis, providing actionable insights for program planning and improvement.
    Report Writing: Prepare comprehensive and clear reports summarizing the findings of the latrine census data analysis.
    Present the results in a format suitable for diverse audiences, including policymakers, donors, and the community.
    Recommendations: Provide evidence-based recommendations for programmatic interventions based on the data analysis. Suggest improvements and strategies to address identified challenges and enhance the impact of latrine-related interventions.

    Deliverables

    Deliverable 1: Inception report containing detailed methodology for data analysis
    Deliverable 2: Census analyzed data in readable format (The graphics should entail right scaling and informative graphic headings.Note:(Poorly located and labeled axes, insufficient use of color, shape and size that can obscure the relationship in data or make the data hard to read and interpret should be avoided)
    Deliverable 3: Census report in MS word and PDF versions and Cleaned dataset

    Reporting Modalities

    The consultant will work with Peace Winds Shelter &Spatial planner/Engineer and MEAL staff in Kakuma, with overall guidance of the Area Manager. The MEAL team will work closely with the consultant by:

    Providing the raw data collected from the latrine census.
    Validation of the analysis ensuring it meets the standard of Peace Winds.
    Review of the report done by the Consultant

    Assignment Duration

    The consultant is expected to carry the assignment in 10 working days in November, 2024.

    Qualification, required skills

    The consultant to be engaged in this assignment must have;

    A degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, BSc. degree in Public Health or Water Engineering from a recognized university with experience of at least 8 years in a similar discipline.
    Master degree in Development Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences, Project Management, Public Health or WASH discipline is an added advantage.
    Experience of having conducted 3 similar assignments over the past 5 years .
    Strong background in statistics and data analysis of qualitative and quantitative methodology and use of mobile data collection tools (Kobo).
    Good communication and inter-personal skills.
    Previous work experience with NGOs in WASH and shelter interventions, especially in a humanitarian context.
    Excellent report writing in English and presentation skills.

    The consultant’s technical proposal shall contain the following:

    Clear understanding of the terms of reference including any relevant comments
    A clear methodology on how the consultant will undertake the assignment
    Work Plan with clear duties and responsibilities
    Summary of Consultant’s experience in undertaking assignments of similar scope and/or complexity (last 8 years)

    The expected deliverables are the following:

    Inception Report: Detailing the methodology, tools for collecting data, proposed work schedule and agreeing on the criteria  for defining a good practice and timeline, and data sources within two weeks of contract commencement.
    A draft report of good practices in reducing carbon emissions and climate justice advocacy led by faith-based organizations – FBO. The report will document relevant projects, initiatives, and strategies implemented by FBOs, including those supported by the LWF. The report will include sections on the methodology, used for data collection and analysis, including criteria for selecting good practices, and a breakdown of the key findings.
    A final report will provide detailed descriptions of the selected initiatives and include between 8 to 10 good practices/ case studies of a maximum of 4 pages per case (excluding photos and annexes). The report will provide recommendations for enhancing the role of FBOs in climate mitigation and carbon emission reduction. These will include suggestions for strengthening advocacy, improving collaboration between FBOs and governments, and promoting greater support from international climate frameworks.
    A presentation summarizing the key findings of the report showcasing best practices and recommendations. This will be used for internal and external dissemination among stakeholders.

    Suggested time frame and period of the assignment 

    The assignment will take place from Nov 2024 – Jan 2025. 

    Methodology

    This methodology should integrate the following:

    Checklist as first guidance for identification and setting of categories of good practices.
    Guidance for the characterization of good practice selection and analysis.
    Template for the compilation and analysis of the selected good practices
    It is expected that data collection will be done remotely.

    Qualifications and Experience of the consultant(s)

    Proven experience in climate justice related work.
    Proven track record of conducting similar work of international.
    development programs, including programs implemented in different geographical regions.
    Experience in conducting remote research (online interviews, surveys etc.).
    Excellent writing skills in English.
    Ability to communicate in Spanish as some of the LWF initiatives are in LAC.
    Experience in working with faith-based organizations.
    Knowledge of LWF and the ACT Alliance members an advantage.

    • Be responsible for the update and finalization of the UN Decade’s Resource Mobilization Strategy and its action plan, as well as related documentation and briefs.
    Be responsible for the preparation and follow-up to resource mobilization meetings, conferences, consultative workshops in close coordination with the Decade’s Coordination Group (UNEP and FAO) and key partners.
    Support resource mobilization activities for the World Restoration Flagships and UN Decade’s Action Plan and develop related applications, budgets and other documentation as appropriate, engage into the communication in coordination with relevant colleagues and partners.
    Provide inputs to the planning and framing of the UN Decade’s activities, including for its second half (2026-2030).
    Develop reports, notes, web stories, and other follow-up documents to the related meetings and events.

    Qualifications/special skills

    Academic Qualifications: An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental affairs, climate change and nature conservation, economics, business administration or a related field is required.
    A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    At least 3 years of professional experience in mobilizing investments and working with private sector, Environment Social and Governance (ESG) or programme management is required. Experience in developing strategies and implementation plans for organizations is essential.
