    Support in the search for suitable participants for the focus group discussions
    Assist in identifying and setting up simple meeting points for the FGD meetings on the local level
    Accurately capture and record data from the HH’s survey
    Follow clear standards set as per the interviewer’s guideline handbook and comply with all the requirements necessary for conducting a successful interviews
    Perform other tasks and duties assigned for the successful implementation of the study
    Spend 100% of the time in the field together with the coordination team

    Reports to: Regional Director (RD), Africa
    Position Summary: Relief International (RI) seeks a Regional Program Director (RPD) for its programs in Africa based in London or in one of the Africa region country offices (Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia and Uganda), with regular travel to regional country offices. Under the leadership of the Regional Director, the RPD has five main tasks:

    Support, monitor and ensure the quality implementation of the projects in the region;
    Ensure the grant management function for Africa;
    Play a substantial role in promoting the RI way and strengthening Accountability to Communities Frameworks;
    Help strengthen Monitoring and Evaluation and Learning systems; and
    (Represent RI with the donors and other partners supporting the region.

    The Regional Program Director will have significant management and international experience, a passion for humanitarian relief and development work, and be capable of successfully guiding and supporting program teams in the region.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Project Cycle Management

    Help country teams in their efforts to implement RI country, region and global strategy in particular in the design of new programs and technical capacity building of teams.
    Support country teams for the development, implementation and analysis of needs assessment tools and surveys and the preparation of related reports.
    Carry out the timely project mobilization for all new projects in the region, involving country Program, regional and GSO relevant departments.
    Participate in international program personnel recruitment and on-boarding; performance evaluation of international personnel; grievance management; international deployments and repatriations.
    Carry out bi-annual project follow-up coordination meetings for projects that are longer than 6 months.
    Undertake multi-faceted strategy to promote elements of the RI way in our programmes
    Support and ensure that the programme teams develop and follow project management tools such as action plan, budget projections, procurement plans, M&E plans.
    Ensure appropriate Monitoring and Evaluation activities are carried out regularly (including data collection & analysis, monitoring of project progress against established work plans, monitoring of established indicators and utilization of results to inform program design).
    Closely monitor, review and analyze monthly budget vs. actual expenditure reports, and make recommendations on the basis of these and ensure that appropriate action is taken in a timely fashion.
    Review and approve country Request For Funds (RFF) and ensure that they accurately match with programmatic requirements.
    For each project, design and monitor with the country team, project progress tools.
    Ensure that program implementation complies with RI and donor policies for projects.
    Assist country offices in drafting and finalizing agreements such as MOUs, registrations, etc.
    Act as liaison and Point of Contact between program teams and relevant internal departments such as finance and operations.
    Conduct regular field visits to provide support, monitoring, capacity building as per program needs.
    Provide content and updates for websites and communication materials relating to programming.
    Carry out the timely project close-out for all closing projects in the region, involving country Program, regional and GSO relevant departments.
    Prepare regular updates on programs implementation and alert the Regional Director of any issues arising.

    Grant Management

    Be responsible for the timely submission of proposals, reports, fund requests and amendments.
    Contribute substantially to reporting and ensure that all donor report submissions are fully compliant with donor regulations and of the highest quality.
    In close coordination with the Regional Director, conduct regular meetings with Country Directors and senior field staff for follow up of programming and operations.
    Ensure that soft copies of all program and grant related documents are archived and easily accessible.

    Program Development

    Take a pro-active role in identifying new programme opportunities in collaboration with Africa RD and Country CDs and PD Department.
    Attend meetings with potential donors to represent RI.
    Consult with peer and UN agencies on international standards with regard to programme design and implementation.
    Work with relevant staff to develop high quality concept notes.
    Support and participate in the completion of funding proposals that meet RI program quality standards and donor priorities.
    Assist in marketing proposals to appropriate donors.
    Provide technical proposal review for the Africa region.
    Contribute to and upon request of the RD lead the final negotiations with donors in particular those based in the US.
    Participate in planning and implementing programme development assessments for new opportunities and in new countries.
    Contribute to the integration of programme activities to create coherent, quality and complimentary programming.
    Provide regular updates on program development activities to the RD.

    Representation

    Represent RI in meetings such as Interaction, and other relevant meetings with implementing agencies and partner organizations.
    Participate actively to relevant conferences and events related to Africa or one of the countries where RI has programs.
    Act as focal point between RI and US-based donor agencies.
    Regularly and actively organize meetings with donor representatives which are based in Washington DC and the US.
    Facilitate the interaction and regular meeting (on-line or in person) between US-based donor representatives and country/program teams.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Graduate degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Public Health, or related field preferred.
    At least 10-year experience in implementing multi-sector humanitarian relief or development projects in RI’s countries/regions of operations.
    At least 5-year experience developing and implementing operations and administrative management activities for an INGO.
    Excellent spoken and written English is required.
    Strong leadership and teambuilding skills, staff management and capacity building experience.
    Highly organized and systems-oriented.
    Knowledge of donor guideline requirements (e.g. USAID, UN, DFID, ECHO EuropeAid)
    Experience in proposal writing and programme development activities.
    Experience of external relation, networking and representation in particular with donors.
    Field experience with an INGO working on program implementation.

    Objectives of the Training
    Act! intends to conduct a Women and CVE training at the Coast targeting SCORE partner organizations. The main objective of the training is to enhance the technical capacities of the sub-awardees in understanding and effectively programming on women, girls and CVE in the coastal region of Kenya.
    Specific objectives of the training include:

    To take stock of the current trends and dynamics on women, girls and CVE in Kenya and the coastal region in particular.
    To find out and discuss the vulnerability of women and girls to recruitment into radical and extremist groups like Al-Shabaab.
    To establish how women can contribute to the prevention of radicalization and CVE in the coastal region of Kenya through early detection and other means.
    To help the participants (and the organizations) improve their programming around women, girls and CVE.
    To equip the participants with analytical skills that will help them tell their stories (success stories) regarding women and CVE better.

    Deliverables and key tasks
    The assignment will be conducted through the successful implementation of the following tasks;

    Develop content for the training outlining topics to be covered and the objectives of each session;
    Conduct training for SCORE sub-awardees on Women & CVE;
    Compile a training report highlighting the lessons learnt, post training evaluation findings and facilitator’s observations and recommendations.

    4. Key Qualifications
    The successful consultant trainer will be required to have:

    Post graduate qualifications in Conflict Studies; qualifications in gender studies will be an added advantage.
    Extensive experience in P/CVE and gender programming and work.
    Experience in designing and facilitating P/CVE and gender trainings.
    Ability to work under a tight schedule and deliver good quality reports.

    This post is based at the KWTRP, which is a partnership between the Kenya Medical Research Institute, the Wellcome Trust and the University of Oxford, and a world-renowned health research unit. The KWTRP works together with scientists, health services and local communities to achieve better health, while also developing local scientific leadership and infrastructure
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Ensure effective project plans are in place and operational for each trial and work proactively with the trial team to set priorities in accordance with applicable project plans, standard operational procedures (SOPs), ICH/GCP guidelines and regulatory requirements; and maintain a register of risks and implement strategies to mitigate risk in collaboration with the QA manager.
    Establish systems to track trial progress, milestones and performance metrics.
    Provide efficient updates on trial progress to the PI and/or Head of CTF, with respect to project plans, trial budget and timeline management, recruitment, inventory management, and trial conduct.
    Oversee organizational structures, work schedules, task management and project milestones; be responsible for analysis, monitoring and evaluations of targets and strategic objectives; identify potential delays, bottlenecks and their effects on project deliverables; and implement strategies to ensure operational effectiveness.
    Lead study planning and start-up process, including but not limited to conduct of the Trial Kick-off meeting, the set-up of trial master file (TMF) and study planning meetings.
    Supervise clinical trial coordinators to develop, track and report work schedules, task management and milestones and to ensure the alignment of these activities with the overall project priorities.
    Contribute to strategic planning and oversight of capital, operating budgets and expenditures for research grants and future grant applications in liaison with the finance and grants departments at KWTRP and the University of Oxford.
    Responsibility for ethics and regulatory document preparation and submissions, timely report submissions and communication with ethics and regulatory bodies.
    Develop or supervise development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the projects together with the study team and conduct training/supervise training on SOPs/SIVs and ensure that clinical teams fulfil their roles and responsibilities.
    Determine communications needs, and plan and assess communications strategies and media interaction in accordance with KWTRP policies.
    Responsibility for the day-to-day running of the projects through the administrative team at KWTRP in Kilifi, and other trial sites where necessary; and liaise with KWTRP operations team for space planning and allocation of space for staff and visitors.
    Oversight and planning of key trial meetings and arrangements for visitors in liaison with KWTRP operations and key administrative staff.
    Responsibility for maintenance of study records and documents, their secure storage, and ensuring all data are filled out appropriately and documents are up to date.
    Coordinate monitoring and audit visits and ensure that all requirements are met including availability of documentation and relevant staff.
    Liaise with the KWTRP Community Liaison Group to develop and implement site and community engagement strategies.
    Represent the research project to relevant internal committees, external organizations and, where appropriate, funding agencies.
    Create high quality project reports for funding agencies and project partners.
    Effectively provide support to the PI and/or Head of CTF in the conduct of the trials.
    Participate in scientific and business meetings within the Clinical Trials Facility when required.

    Essential qualifications

    A Masters in life sciences or equivalent from an accredited institution.
    A degree in nursing or life sciences, diploma in clinical medicine, or a Registered Nurse.
    At least 5 years’ experience in clinical trials, including 3 years’ experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above.

    Essential competencies

    Exceptional project management skills, proficiency in using project management tools and the ability to manage multiple large projects simultaneously.
