    Job description:

    To develop and grow the counselling service in line with need. This includes developing referral criteria, appropriate assessment tools and interventions (individual, group and family) as well as consent forms.
    Develop a case management system in line with the existing system used by Social workers.
    To provide psychosocial support to selected / referred cases of high risk or cases in need of specialised psychosocial support or mental health interventions in the following areas (not exhaustive):

    HIV diagnosis and disclosure
    Drug & alcohol abuse
    Cases of GBV and SGBV and other abuse cases
    Psychological First Aid

    To provide technical support to all forums / groups, this includes youth forums, teachers meetings, community days.
    To attend the above forums / days / training as required.
    Develop appropriate referral pathways to external partners.
    To participate in needs assessments and project evaluations aiming at contributing to the development of the child protection programme strategy for the Tushinde community.

    Under the supervision of the Social Work Manager, and with assistance from the designated safeguarding lead on the Board of Trustees, the counsellor will coordinate with the Child Protection Officer a response to cases of children and vulnerable adults in need of psychosocial interventions.

    To provide peer support to fellow social workers.
    Provide training and supervision to the team (and community based structures) on the techniques and management of children, vulnerable adults and their families with basic psychosocial and mental health concerns.
    Offering trainings, information and support to youths and ensure they access the right support to address concerns or challenges
    Recommending and sometimes making decisions about the best course of action for a particular youth or family
    To provide monthly / quarterly reports to the Social Work Manager and Executive Director
    To provide specialist HIV counselling (individual and group)
    With the help of the Social Work Manager, conducting interviews with individual youth to assess and review their situation with use of My Star Tool
    To support the development of intervention criteria for the psychosocial cases and design appropriate technical responses to psychosocial and mental health cases.
    Conduct individual mental health assessments, document case notes, referrals, and interventions, prepare monthly activity reports, and contribute to funder reports, as needed.
    Liaising with the Social work department team and programmes department team to identify youths in need of counselling support and to ensure confidential records regarding the youth are well managed.
    Perform any other duties assigned by the Social work manager and/or Executive Director.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology or a related field.
    3-5 years of work experience as a counsellor, clinical psychologist or psychologist
    3 years experience working with children and adolescents
    Must have exceptional attention to detail.
    Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize. Must be a self-starter and driven.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
    Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google products.
    Must have a passion to work with vulnerable children, youth and adults.
    Must be able to work in a challenging environment.
    Must be conversant with child protection policy
    Must possess excellent team leadership skills.
    Related Short courses will be an added advantage.
    Must have a certificate of good conduct.
    Fluency in English and Kiswahili both verbal and written

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

    Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Sacred Theology; Christian/Islamic Philosophy; Pastoral theology; Counselling; Theology; Divinity; Christian or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Sacred Theology; Christian Philosophy;

    Duties and Responsibilities:-

    Requirements for Appointment

    Thematic Coordination Lead for Generation Equality’s Gender-Based Violence Action Coalition Consultancy: Analysis of Gaps and Opportunities for Gender Integration in the Africa Programme of Action for Implementation of the Sendai Framework for DRR (SF DRR)

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Manage the Generation Equality Action Coalition on Gender-Based Violence:

    Convene the Action Coalition on Gender-Based Violence regularly and in line with Generation Equality core principles of intersectionality, intergenerational and co-leadership
    Drive multi-stakeholder dialogues and collective agreements around contentious issues between member states, private sector, philanthropic organizations, civil society, youth, adolescent girls, and international/multilateral organizations, drawing on the expertise, knowledge and experience of relevant UN Women focal points.
    Convene, coordinate and drive progress towards an Action Coalition annual workplan through consensus building leading to co-accountability with a wide range of stakeholders across the Leaders and Commitment-Makers, and in collaboration with UN Women regional and country offices.
    Develop and deliver a Commitment Maker Engagement Strategy at global level, to ensure engagement of new and existing Commitment Makers to the Gender-Based Violence Action Coalition.
    Facilitate cross-thematic collaboration between Action Coalitions that break up siloes, advance thematic synergies and foster collective action.
    Develop opportunities across to Action Coalitions to support Global Alliances, including the Global Alliance for Care and the Alliance for Feminist Movements, to advance joint action of Commitment Makers.
    Develop and deliver a clear communications strategy and associated mechanisms with Leaders and Commitment Makers to ensure effective, consistent, and transparent communication, and ensure consistency in approach & synergies across all Action Coalitions. 
    Support the meaningful engagement of youth and adolescent girls across all aspects of the Action Coalition’s efforts and engagement, drawing on the expertise, knowledge and experience of relevant UN Women focal points.
    Facilitate a regular self-assessment of Leaders on the alignment with the Generation Equality core principles (intersectionality, inter-general, co-leadership).

    Lead advocacy, knowledge exchange and external engagement efforts for the Generation Equality Action Coalition on Gender-Based Violence:

    Develop a thematic advocacy strategy on Gender-Based Violence in collaboration with Generation Equality Action Coalition partners (Leaders & Commitment Makers) to accelerate action on (a) Commitments; (b) Global Acceleration Plan targets; and (c) Resource mobilization. 
    Oversee implementation of the advocacy strategy to expand and strengthen the impact of prioritized commitments on Gender-Based Violence, and support partners to design individual and collective commitments through new or improved partnerships.
    Support the execution of 2-3 political dialogues per year, bringing together multi-stakeholder partners on Gender-Based Violence, in collaboration with regional and country offices. 
    Develop relevant technical guidance and knowledge products on Gender-Based Violence, in collaboration with multi-stakeholder partners, which fosters peer-to-peer learning and cross-thematic collaborations
    Harness Action Coalitions leadership structures to support Commitment Makers reporting for the annual GEF accountability report.  Provide commitments analysis to Leaders using the results of the accountability framework
    Identify and build a pipeline of stories of progress and impact as a way of conveying the results of the work of the Action Coalition, and work with Communications teams to share and promote these stories
    Identify strategic opportunities to leverage UN Women’s coordination mandate to influence and enhance the coherence of UN system work to facilitate the mobilization of joint and coordinated action for the Acton Coalition on Gender-Based Violence.
    Ensure coherence and synergies across all Generation Equality Action Coalitions by sharing lessons learned and co-designing products and approaches with Action Coalition Thematic Leads. 
    Support the execution of thematic-specific and overarching Generation Equality events and milestones in line with the Generation Equality Project Document.
    Contribute to and participate in stakeholder engagement and communications opportunities convened and facilitated by the Generation Equality Coordination Hub on the work of the Action Coalition and its contributions to the Generation Equality Project Document, including with the Multi-Stakeholder Leadership Group in its advisory capacity to UN Women and its role as convenor of Generation Equality.

    Support localization of the Action Coalition on Gender-Based Violence across UN Women Country & Regional Offices:

    Prepare and implement a prioritization strategy that leverages existing mechanisms and potential entry points for greater impact of Gender-Based Violence commitments, in concert with Country & Regional Offices
    Engage Leaders and commitment makers in forging new partnerships and collectively identify and implement prioritized commitments in collaboration with UN Women Regional Offices
    Provide technical support to regional and country offices to generate new Generation Equality commitments on Gender-Based Violence, monitor implementation and facilitate synergetic collaborations among partners.
    Foster and promote opportunities for local actors to have global voices for Generation Equality and to meaningfully contribute to and participate in global advocacy initiatives.

    Contribute to Resource Mobilization efforts on Generation Equality

    Actively support a joined-up approach to resource mobilization for the Generation Equality Project Document as whole and expand / deepen UN Women’s overall partnerships for Gender-Based Violence.   
    Contribute to the whole-of-organization approach of Generation Equality in collaboration with UNW colleagues and in alignment with the approved Generation Equality Project Document

    Manage financial resources and supervise staff:

    Supervise and manage staff, review performance and mentor/ coach staff [as applicable]
    Develop and prepare annual workplans, financial resources of the programme including budgeting and budget revisions, and expenditure tracking and reporting.
    Oversee and monitor the allocation and disbursement of funds to participating partners.
    Ensure appropriate actions are taken to optimize use of programme funds.
    Contribute inputs to narrative and financial reporting in relation to the Action Coalition’s commitments in the Generation Equality Project Document.
    Work in regular and close collaboration with the Generation Equality Coordination Hub, including through the exchange of information, given the Hub’s role in coordinating the timely and quality delivery of project document results.

    Help in identifying/seeking out vulnerable youths who need to be enrolled in the youth prevention programme and offer tailored interventions aimed at aspiring youths aim for a brighter future free from poverty

    Offering trainings, information and support to youths and ensure they access the right support to address concerns or challenges
    Recommending and sometimes making decisions about the best course of action for a particular youth or family
    Participating in meetings regarding, For example Case Management and Child Protection
    Prepare activity reports for both internal and external use
    Liaising with the youth mentors to identify and address various concerns regarding the youths in the program
    Liaising with the counsellor to identify youths in need of counselling support and to ensure confidential records regarding the youth are well managed.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in social work and/or community Development , or a related field. 3-5 years of work experience as a social worker.
    3 years experience working with individuals between the ages of 11 and 20 years.
    Must have exceptional attention to detail.
    Strong organisational and time management skills, and ability to prioritise. Must be a self-starter and driven.

    Duties and responsibilities

    Supports the implementation of the ACT Alliance Africa Adaptation Advocacy project, its monitoring and reporting, under the guidance of the Global Climate Justice Programme Manager.
    Provides assistance and coordination of ACT national and regional forums on climate-related topics and programming.
    Assists coordination of regional Communities of Practice on Climate change.
    Supports the advocacy and engagement of ACT Alliance in the context of UN processes, such as the UNFCCC, and others as appropriate.
    This role will entail 10% travel.

    Technical guidance, advice, and substantive leadership

    Support the undertaking of research, analysis, and evaluation of climate change intersections with social, economic, and humanitarian issues, and advise Global Climate Justice Programme Manager and team as appropriate.
    Help coordinate regional ACT Alliance’s climate change policy and advocacy work, campaigning, including policy briefs, position papers, information sharing, capacity building of members and forums, engaging with relevant international processes under the UNFCCC, and others as appropriate.
    Provide assistance and coordination of ACT Alliance regional climate structures.
    Provides assistance and coordination of ACT national and regional forums on climate-related topics and programming.

    Project management

    Assist in overseeing and implementing the “Adaptation Advocacy project’’ including its activities and related internal and external communications monitoring and reporting, as well as supporting budget management of the project finances.
    Develop a draft workplan, standards for measuring progress and results, and determine the processes, tools, and methodologies to be used to ensure effective and efficient project implementation.
    Monitor the different steps and stages of project implementation and timely actions to ensure results are achieved.
    Plan and oversee the implementation of required project evaluation to address any design or implementation issues.
    Facilitate the preparation for meetings and other designated forums and follow up on all decisions taken to ensure implementation and/or timely action.
    Regularly monitor regional ACT climate projects and other initiatives.
    Contribute to the preparation and finalisation of ACT climate programme reports.

    Knowledge and capacity building

    Support the various structures at regional and national levels, and work closely with ACT Alliance members and partners at regional and national level to help build ACT member and group capacities, and to facilitate increased collaboration and joint initiatives.
    Develop and disseminate knowledge products to strengthen Secretariat and forum capacity on issues of climate justice.
    Contribute to the climate justice module of the ACT Advocacy Academy.

    Skills and experience

    At least 5 years’ experience in a project coordination, advocacy and/or campaigns role, including international experience in a network setting.
    Good understanding of global civil society working environment and multilateral processes within the UN with a particular focus on UNFCCC and the UN sustainable development and disaster risk reduction agenda.
    Strong knowledge about climate mitigation, adaptation and loss and damage.
    Experience in engaging with regional processes and governments including facilitating multi-stakeholder communications and dialogues.
    Experience working with the faith sector is desirable.
    Advanced degree in climate change and environment studies, development studies, international relations, or any other relevant discipline preferred. Demonstrable knowledge and experience will be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
    Ability to work in multi-cultural situations and/or multi-locational settings using a flexible, collaborative approach.
    Proven capacity to build and maintain trust among diverse groups towards consistent collaborative work.
    Highly organised, with strong project management skills.
    Demonstrated experience in developing and undertaking capacity-building initiatives.
    Ability to manage one’s own work and time within the context of multiple responsibilities and projects, and a demonstrated capacity to work under pressure to deadlines.

    Roles and responsibilities 

    Strategic leadership and programme development 
    As member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Senior Leadership and Management Team (SLMT) support the process and engagements in setting the strategic direction of the organisation around strategy, people, operations, culture and corporate issues. This will include engaging in decision-making;taking collective responsibility for SLMT and SLT decisions,supporting and disseminating them; and activelypromoting staff engagement and setting a kind, collaborative and professional culture.
    Oversee the design, development and delivery of a large, complex portfolio across Africa at continental, regional/corridor and national levels to improve Africa’s trade environment.     Undergraduate degree holders will have at least 15 years’ working experience, including seven years of leadership and management experience.
    Postgraduate degree holders will require at least 13 years’ experience including seven years of relevant leadership and management experience.
    A minimum of 10 years’ experience in leading the development and delivery of trade improvement initiatives and trade-related capacity development programmes to enhance the capacities of developing countries in trade policy development, formulation and implementation of trade reforms, regional integration, and support to national governments.
    Significant work experience and networks with Regional Economic Communities in West Africa, East Africa, Horn of Africa or Southern Africa. 
    Experience in working with private sector and civil society to deliver trade capacity support and to support trade related advocacy.

    Governance
