    Duties and Responsibilities
    The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. We support programme implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, conference and information services. The post is located in Gigiri Nairobi, at the Joint Medical Services .The individual contractor will be at NOC level 5 -All inclusive.
    Appointment against this post is on local basis.

    Under the supervision of Deputy Chief of medical services ,The individual contractor will carry out the following duties & responsibilities,
    Perform day-to-day clinical duties, e.g. attending to walk-in clinic,
    Medical evacuations, emergencies,
    Pre-placement and periodic medical examinations,
    Immunizations, travel advice;
    Refer staff to and follow up with outside specialists as necessary;
    Provide health education and medical counselling to clients;
    Organize/Participate in addressing work environment and occupational health issues
    Emergency response within Gigiri Complex.
    Undertake house calls and hospital rounds when required
    Screening for Wellness Program Clients.
    Undertake medical examinations (entry, periodic) according to UN guidelines and procedures
    Undertake ‘outpatient’ treatment
    Perform any other tasks as may be required.

    Qualifications/special skills

    A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s in medicine and Surgery, MBChB). Must be Registered with Kenya Medical and Dental Practitioners Board.
    A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in clinical medical practice in field environment, hospital environment, pre-hospital environment or related area is required.
    At least two (2) years experience working in a busy Accident and Emergency Unit, Intensive Care Unit or Aeronautical medicine is required.

    Responsibilities

    Ensures continuous functionality of relevant APIs (Application Programming Interfaces).
    Coordinates support on software development matters, including security, data integrity and recovery; assists with needs assessment for new systems and modifications to existing systems.

    Provides basic support in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of customized workflows based on the Unit’s ProcessMaker, Data Manager and Queue management software applications:

    Assists the Chief in the definition and specification of requirements; builds, tests, and modifies prototype application software based on detailed instructions; installs and maintains software systems.

    Supports HCSU’s core client business process management application and the field office staff to ensure the smooth processing of documentation and tracking of all documentation submitted to Government offices and other UN agencies:

    Provides user support to the Protocol/Liaison/Team assistants (users).
    Performs ongoing reviews with users and responds to requirements; requests, implements, provides operational support, and maintains various applications.

    Assists the field team by maintaining the databases containing records of all internal business processes.

    Reporting & Documentation:

    Drafts instruction manuals and generates a variety of standard statistical and other reports.
    Tracks expiry dates of documents and visas and notifies clients to initiate renewal action in good time.
    Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.

    IAVI is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager, Clinical Laboratory Operations to lead lab operations for IAVI-sponsored clinical trials.  The Manager coordinates central lab activities, liaises with clinical research sites, clinical teams, and vendors ensuring lab operations are executed effectively. The Manager improves and develops SOPs, prepares the lab for trial operations, and oversees central lab operations. The Manager is knowledgeable and versed in relevant regulations and ensures quality and compliance of lab operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Laboratory operations:

    Coordinate and manage clinical research site (“site”) and central lab related activities, including regular meetings, managing timelines and deliverables, lab budget management, coordinating activities and deliverables with other lab leads for IAVI conducted clinical trials.
    Serve as main point of contact for lab operations for sites, lab vendors and the Clinical Trial Team.
    Support site lab feasibility assessment and conduct site laboratory qualification visits, follow-up, and review site laboratory SOPs.
    Contribute to development of lab related information in protocol, ICF, CRF and study operations manuals.
    Develop laboratory operations manual (including specimen management plan) and update as needed throughout the clinical trial and specimen shipment plan.
    Assist in development of diagnostic algorithms for laboratory endpoints in clinical trials (e.g. TB, HIV).
    Develop protocol specific tools for the management of research samples, e.g. sample collection tables, Laboratory Requisition forms, data/sample flow maps.
    Prepare site laboratories for enrollment, including support with procurement of reagents, assay development and testing (if required) and coordinate provision and distribution of central lab supplies and materials.
    Assist in the identification, evaluation, and selection of central laboratories, including review of vendor SOPs, operational strategies, budgets, and support budgeting and contracting activities.
    Develop and implement laboratory quality oversight plan.
    Develop and conduct training for site lab operations during Site Initiation Visit
    Proactively identify and resolve issues/risks with sites and central lab operations that arise and implement corrective and preventive measures as required.
    Oversee site sample storage e.g. review of temperature reports management of excursions and oversight of sample management in the Laboratory Information Systems.
    Review site lab equipment maintenance logs and service records during Lab oversight visits.
    Monitor internal quality control procedures, including monitoring and reporting of contamination rates and cross contamination rates at site labs and /or central laboratories, as applicable.
    Conduct lab quality oversight visits at site labs to ensure compliance with protocol and relevant lab standards.
    Coordinate and oversee internal / external audits of site labs and central labs and coordinate and review CAPAs.
    Ensure lab related essential documents are filed in the TMF throughout the study conduct.
    Coordinate data transfers from laboratories to clinical database, including execution of data transfer agreements.
    Coordinate sample shipments and documentation, including material transfer agreements, export permits , import permits for lab samples and reagents.
    Support data cleaning activities of lab data, in consultation with Data Management.
    Coordinate sample destruction / storage and documentation at the end of the study.

    Departmental and knowledge development activities:

    Remain up to date on knowledge of GCP, GCLP and other relevant regulations.
    Remain abreast of scientific knowledge, EQA programs and TB, HIV and Emerging Infectious Disease (EID) diagnostic technologies, trends, and activities.
    Participate in training activities for new staff, as needed.

    Education and Work Experience:

    IAVI is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Trial Manager to oversee and execute day-to-day operational activities for the conduct of clinical trials according to ICH/GCP and relevant regulatory guidelines. The CTM will lead clinical operations of early and late phase clinical trials, mentor other clinical operations staff, contributing to clinical operations process improvement.

    Lead implementation of risk-based monitoring for assigned studies and liaise with sites and IAVI CRAs and data management to perform data reviews and resolve data queries.
    Review and approve monitoring visit reports submitted by CRAs for assigned studies.  Complete monitoring oversight visits as needed to review clinical data for accuracy and completeness and resolve discrepancies in accordance with the study monitoring plan.
    Maintain good relations with IAVI collaborators and trial sites to facilitate site development and execution of clinical trials.
    Mentor and train CRAs and Clinical Trial Associates as needed.
    When assigned a trial with a Clinical Operations Specialist (COS), delegate clearly defined clinical trial management activities to the COS and ensure deliverables are met with appropriate timeliness and quality.  Mentor and provide training to the COS as needed.
    Contribute to the Clinical Development (CD) departmental Standard Operating Procedures for conduct of clinical trials based on IAVI templates and ensures adherence to regulations/guidelines for GCP. When applicable is a member of the CD SOP task force.
    Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

    Education and Work Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or other relevant field is required; an advanced degree in relevant field is preferred.
    Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in clinical trial operations, including at least 2 years in clinical trial management or equivalent experience at study sponsor or CRO is required.

    Qualifications and Skills:
