    Duties and responsibilities
    The News Editor/Content Manager will oversee the day-to-day running of CIFOR-ICRAF’s news sites and develop content for the organisation’s digital channels and direct the production of multimedia content. From reporting, researching and writing, to commissioning, copy-editing, content packaging and disseminating, this role will oversee a range of materials including news stories, feature articles, op-eds, speeches, fact sheets, briefs and infographics, and will be used to raise awareness about global issues that CIFOR-ICRAF research addresses, as well as the organisation’s activities and will be used to promote the organisation’s work.

     Manage all facets of day-to-day publication, including but not limited to building a content calendar, commissioning articles and liaising with writers, scientists and stakeholders
     Interview, research and write engaging, scientifically accurate content, including blogs, briefs, press releases, news items and leaflets
     Develop content for CIFOR-ICRAF websites
     Assist with newsletter production
     Source photos, fact-check content and copy edit
     Recruit and cultivate a roster of talented, diverse writers
     Develop strategies for coverage of different kinds of events and news coverage
     Develop relationships with partner organizations and stay abreast of the latest trends and research
     Plan conference coverage, theme-based coverage, news coverage
     Develop monthly in-depth features highlighting key aspects of CIFOR-ICRAF’s work
     Coordinate with social media team to support outreach via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and other platforms
     Liaise with production team to produce graphic art images and infographics for stories or social media

    Education, knowledge and experience

     The ideal candidate would have an undergraduate degree in journalism or a related field, a master’s in a subject other than communication (or a combination thereof) and at least five years of print journalism experience
     Fluency in English (flawless idiomatic written English). Other major languages, especially French and Spanish, an asset
     Experience in working for a research organisation or within the development sector is desirable

    Detailed Description
    Reporting to the Tribe Lead, the Product Owner – Market Solutions, will be responsible for building and scaling a digital agriculture product to connect smallholder farmers to markets.     Key Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities
    Overseeing of Field experiments

     Prepare field experiments (trials and nurseries), including trial designs and seed preparation using Fieldbook/EBS according to the breeder’s instructions.

    Seed Processing and Storage

     Lead seed processing and shipment with different partners, both internally and externally.
     Manage cold storage facilities by consolidating germplasm inventories and developing SOPs.

    Data management:

     Lead data input and analysis of field trials with guidance from the scientist.
     Examine data for accuracy before analysis.
     Prepare historical data for curation.

    Data analysis:

     Timely statistical data analysis using different software depending on the objective of the experiment.
     Genetic data analysis depending on the objective of the experiment.
     Implement electronic data capture in all the field testing locations using the KDSmart or other appropriate application to ensure quick turnaround.
     Assist M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in divers data analysis.

    Capacity building and Supervision of casual labor

     Provide training and backstopping services especially with Fieldbook and data analysis to NARS and seed company partners.

     Supervise contract and casual labor in data taking according to instructions from multi-location trials in Kenya under both optimum and managed stress conditions.

    Other

     Implement mechanization and digitization in CIMMYT eastern Africa breeding program.
     Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

     Basic knowledge of administrative and/or operating protocols and procedures of research support function.

    Architect and design security solutions in line with best practices to ensure they meet Enterpriser customer requirements.
    Ensure Enterprise Solution have information security at concept stage.
    Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration tests against risk-prioritized infrastructure and applications and provide remediation recommendations.
    Conduct security awareness training for our enterprise customers.
    Design and implement SIEM solutions and conduct continuous tuning of rules and use cases
    Work closely with EBU product teams, Technology Security to evaluate the viability of vendor products for the MSSP
    Drive managed security products go-to market and uptake in the Enterprise market.
    Participate in definition of security requirements and acceptance criteria for new Enterprise customer solution
    Draft, evaluate and respond to Enterprise RFIs/RFPs
    Liaise with Supply Chain in the procurement process of Managed Security solutions/systems.
    Participate in the technical evaluations for security systems that run Enterprise platforms.
    Participate in selection of the best solution and present to the CAPEX board
    Ensure all vendors have up-to-date contracts (contract management)
    Implement Test, Deploy and Commission new systems for Enterprise customers.
    Develop the ‘as built’ Enterprise security solution for support handover
    Recommend major upgrades where required and liaise with the operations team when doing the upgrades especially if it affects the design/architecture of the Enterprise support system
    Ensure all security technology and processes implemented are continually improved to maximize on their returns/benefits
    Define metrics and report periodically that clearly demonstrate value to the enterprise customers
    Conduct research and development/security intelligence on new areas in security and present on them for sensitization and knowledge transfer to other team members/staff                                              
    Ensure all security systems implemented have high availability and disaster recovery in accordance with best practices
    Ensure change management and system handover processes are followed
    Excellent communication skills with an ability to right level conversations
    Lead and implement integrations between internal and external solutions
    Serves as the technical liaison to the security product owner, internal security team and external stakeholders.
    Collaborate with internal cross functional Enterprise customer facing domain architecture leadership

    Qualifications

    Degree in Science/computer science/Engineering/Business related.
    Strong business acumen and mindset
    5+ years of technical experience in a busy IT development environment, 2 years of which must include experience in designing systems and solutions.
    3+ years’ Experience in Technical Leadership of large IT projects
    3+ years’ Experience in RnD or Innovation tech role
    Team player who is skilled at building up and managing stakeholder relationships successfully
    Ability to persuade stakeholders and to champion effective techniques through delivery
    Ability to drive initiatives in new areas
    A curious and innovative mind that built things.

    Qualifications

    Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Information Technology/Telecommunication
    Advanced professional information security certifications e.g. CISSP/CISM/CISA/GIAC/CEH/CPTP/OCSP
    Certifications in Security appliances OEM e.g. Fortinet, Juniper, Palo Alto will be an added advantage.
    Advanced Networking certifications: CCNA/CCNP/CCSP/CCIE
    Certifications in the use and administration of security tools e.g. Firewalls/IDS/Content Filters/Antivirus/Ethical Hacking tools
    Certifications in Microsoft Windows and Linux/Unix Operating Systems
    Certifications in virtualization technologies: VMware, HyperV, Open Stack
    IOT security
    Cloud Certifications like AWS, Azure

    Skills and Experience

    Experience in Cyber Security Systems – e.g., Firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, Content Filters, Security Hacking tools, Antivirus, Encryption, Kali Linux, Burpsuite, Nexpose etc…
    Experience in IT Networks and Systems Administration e.g.  Cisco, Huawei, Windows, Linux, Unix etc…
    Working knowledge of web technologies e.g. cPanel, ModSecurity, Apache, PHP, Joomla, WordPress and ASP
