    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Reporting to the Venture Management Tribe Lead, the Venture Portfolio Manager will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing key strategic initiatives and establishing key ventures inline with Safaricom Group goals and objectives. 
    The role will oversight Safaricom Group Consumer & Enterprise Business, Brand, Marketing portfolio and will maintain digital services, base growth (CVM & Voice) and mobile data in an integrated and consistent way, across end-to-end customer journeys with digital and agile frameworks. 
    Primary objective will be to execute key strategic and cross-functional initiatives and establish envisaged venture’s in a bid to spur business growth and enhance customer experience.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Strategy and Roadmap

    Collaborate with stakeholders, such as product managers and business leaders, to identify and prioritize key strategic initiatives and allocate resources effectively.
    Develop and execute an execution roadmap for key strategic initiatives, aligned with the overall organizational objectives. 
    Identify market trends, competitive landscape, and client needs to define the strategic roadmap.

    Venture Building

    Drive the ideation, design, and development of ventures and cross functional strategic units. 
    Coordinate execution of key ventures and initiatives.
    Proactively identify and address any barriers that may hinder execution of key initiatives/ventures.

    Post-Launch Support 

    Work closely with Venture/Business Unit leads to ensure the venture/strategic initiative meets the 12-24 month objectives and milestones. 
    Foster cross-functional coordination to ensure portfolio companies meet the 12-24 month objectives and milestones. 

    Stakeholder Management

    Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, senior executives, and business partners. 
    Collaborate with other tribes, teams, and departments to foster a holistic and integrated approach to venture building and execution of key strategic initiatives.
    Communicate effectively to convey the tribe’s vision, progress, and achievements.

    Performance Monitoring and Reporting

    Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs)for each initiative.
    Prepare regular reports and presentations to update senior management on the execution of key initiatives, outcomes, and challenges.

    Data Analytics

    Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to wealth management products and services, analyze data trends, and provide actionable recommendations for performance improvement.
    Drive data-driven decision-making by presenting insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

    WERK seeks a Grants Manager for a Reading Champions project in Kenya. The purpose of the activity is to improve and sustain student learning through a resilient and accountable education system together with families, communities and other Kenyan partners. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world and demonstrate leadership, versatility, and integrity in their work. All candidates must possess a degree in a relevant field and English fluency is required. Experience in Kenya or East Africa is preferred.
    The Grants Manager will report to the COP and be responsible for all subaward management, particularly the youth grants. This individual will work closely with the Reading Specialist and the Finance and Administration Manager to manage all the subrecipients. The individual will also work closely with the COP to leverage private sector support for relevant Reading Champions activities.
    The primary responsibilities of the Grants Manager will encompass strengthening the grant function, particularly during the onboarding process for sub-grantees. This includes offering support in the review of budgets and narratives. Additionally, the Manager will be actively involved in the monthly review of financial reports submitted by active sub-grantees, which encompasses reviewing invoices for reimbursements and conducting field visits to physically verify financial documents. Furthermore, the Manager will provide on-the-job training to sub-grantees, addressing identified monitoring gaps, and may engage in various supportive assignments as required. The Manager will ensure monitoring and capacity building of the sub-grantees is extensively conducted to reduce risk in the mismanagement of the active signed agreements. This will also ensure necessary technical support is given to all sub-grantees. It will also help to fast truck the packaging of the grants package for client approval.

    Responsibilities include:

    Facilitates capacity-building initiatives for sub-grantees by collecting necessary paperwork for the purpose of monitoring technical and financial alignment.
    Assists in the preparation and documentation of the grants award cycle for both grants, ensuring that the technical prerequisites required for capturing relevant information in the solicitation process are readily available.
    Provides support to sub-grantees in reviewing WERKs processing requirements and tracking tax reporting.
    Aids in reviewing sub-grantees’ budgets for accuracy and reasonableness, ensuring that budgets are well supported with precise budget narratives for onboarding purposes.
    Documents identified gaps during routine monthly and weekly monitoring to facilitate capacity-building efforts.
    Maintains a financial management filing system for Reading Champions project, including the accurate tracking of fund reimbursement, liquidations, and burn rates, and ensures there are no delays in fund disbursement.
    Collaborates with project teams to ensure that deliverables remain on schedule.
    Ensures that sub-grantees comply with periodic requirements as per grant agreement clauses.
    Establishes sound mechanisms in accordance with WERK’s policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to facilitate grant fund disbursement and the justification of expenses.
    Analyzes grantees’ funding requests and technical reports as needed.
    Provides support for day-to-day operational activities to ensure that the grants mechanism offers the necessary support to the project team.

    Qualifications:

    A Bachelor’s level degree in a related field from an accredited university.
    At least 5 years of demonstrated experience managing projects, preferably those related to early grade reading.
    Grants management experience, preferably in Kenya or East Africa.
    Experience building the capacity of local organizations to implement and manage development projects is highly desired.
    A proven ability to identify high-potential business ideas, demonstrated experience working collaboratively with youth and/or institutional and private partners, and experience implementing activities designed to leverage private investments to support development goals.
    Ability to write, communicate and prepare contractual documents and reports clearly in English.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Financial Shared Services Department of the Finance Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.            
    Reporting to the Record to Report Team Lead, the role holder will be responsible for general accounting and internal control support in line with IFRS including preparation of journal entries, maintenance of Chart of accounts, completion of the month end closing process and ensuring that the general ledger account balances and trial balances are appropriately reconciled as per the company policy for both Safaricom and its subsidiaries. Additionally, they should assure delivery of services as defined in the Service Level Agreement (SLA) /KPI’s applicable for the role.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Below are the key skills and competencies required to be successful in this role:
    Accounting Expertise:

    Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries for a parent company and its subsidiaries.
    In-depth knowledge of month-end closing activities, including general ledger finalization, maintaining close schedules, and making materiality decisions on closing entries.
    Expertise in validating and reporting revenue accurately for the organization and its subsidiaries.
    Consistently upskilling on best practice in accounting processes and accounting systems

    Financial Reporting and Data Integrity:

    Strong focus on ensuring data quality and integrity in financial reporting to stakeholders.
    Proficiency in maintaining and analysing standard chart of accounts and performing timely account reconciliations.
    Managing intercompany accounting modules and related entries effectively.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools such as Power BI and Qlik Sense to enable accurate and efficient examination of and interpretation of financial data 

    Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge:

    Comprehensive understanding of IFRS 16 for proper accounting of leases.
    Proper management of accruals and prepayments, including control of related schedules.
    Effectively revaluating foreign currency denominated balances.

    Payroll Accounting:

    Accurately and effectively recording payroll journal entries and reconciling payroll expenses for accuracy.

    ERP Systems and Integration:

    Ensuring seamless integration of new products through end-to-end mapping to guarantee transaction completeness, timeliness, and accuracy in ERP systems.
    Ability to work with financial systems (knowledge of Oracle E Business Suite and Hyperion)

    Process Improvement and Efficiency:

    Commitment to continuously seeking and implementing process improvements in Record-to-Report (R2R) processes to enhance efficiencies.

    Previous experience working in reporting function necessary.

    JOB DESCRIPTION
    Reporting to the Tribe Lead – Enterprise Solutions, the role holder will be required to identify and enhance all key opportunities of Roaming and International Services, deliver planned footprint rollout for both inbound & outbound and monitor and grow Inbound revenues. In addition, the role holder will negotiate & effectively track outbound costs, develop roadmap for roaming Value-Added Services and develop robust framework for International Services. Part of the responsibilities will also include growing International Voice Services and SMS Services and Negotiate & effectively monitor international calling costs and Sms costs. 
    The role holder will also be expected to manage key relations & partnerships, represent the business at key networking events regionally & internationally and identify and pursue large scale opportunities international business. In addition, he/she should stay updated on emerging market trends across legal, regulatory and technological landscapes. Further to this, the role holder will conduct process audit and secure key compliance certifications as well as  Implement risk management audits for critical service.
    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Deliver planned footprint rollout for both Inbound & Outbound 

    Coordinate and project manage bilateral roaming partners and all other outsourced partners to deliver against Safaricom rollout plan, in line with the commercial priorities. 
    Drive contract negotiations and drafting (with legal support) all the way up to signature.
    Contract ownership for all bilateral roaming contracts. Which includes creating a comprehensive database where all deviations for all bilateral roaming partners is managed.
    Oversee and manage the process of setting up the configuration of new roaming partners for both IREG and TADIG testing by all concerned parties.
    Coordinate and assist with the troubleshooting activities with all concerned parties as appropriate.
    Ensure that all testing criteria have been met and communicate with all concerned parties the outcome of testing and service readiness.
    Track and note various business models being used regionally and internationally to develop and growth wholesale sales.
    Explore different roaming technologies that deliver excellent and improved services to the roaming customer at affordable prices.
    Ensure compliance with GSMA guidelines and protocols.

    Monitor & grow Inbound Revenues   

    Track and monitor on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis revenue growth against set budgetary targets.
    Develop a well thought out IOT e commercial mode framework that ensures regulatory compliance while optimizing inbound roaming opportunities for the business.
    Develop effective business case that clearly justify investment potential for new inbound roaming opportunities.
    Monitor and track roaming pricing both locally and international for similar products.
    Minimize revenue leakage due to under-reporting and incomplete recognition of revenue.

    Develop Roadmap for new Roaming Valued Added Services (VAS) 

    Identify new roaming customer segments that can drive valued added services for roaming customers.
    Monitor and track product pricing both locally and international for similar VAS products.
    Minimize revenue leakage due to under-reporting and incomplete recognition of revenue.

    Manage Outbound Roaming Costs

    Ensure all IOTs for outbound and properly tracked and implemented on TAP in the system.
    Ensure all testing impacting outbound roaming scenarios are done effectively to minimize cost over-runs.
    Develop robust and insightful business cases that help demonstrate the more effective cost strategy.
    Ensure quality is not compromised via Sim-box and is a key compliment in optimizing the cost framework.
    Institute a clear framework for mitigating fraud by liaising effectively with internal stakeholders and developing complementary tools that proactively mitigate fraud

    Develop Robust framework for International Services

    Carry out a SWOT analysis to identify potential areas of new business.
    Track and note various business models being used regionally and internationally to develop and grow international interconnect and SMS
    Carry out extensive research and market intelligence to identify new opportunities for growth of revenues.
    The framework should include clear decision milestones for review of the international interconnect rates and their implications on retail.

    Deep conceptual and applied understanding of DevOps concepts, tools, and practices
